The MT-32 tone module is very similar to the D-50 but it suffers from very noticeable audio distortion due primarily to poor ground isolation. There are ways around it, though, and a couple of companies have done mod services for them.
Not Bad But not as good as a DX7s or JX8P. Too much reliance on effects to lift and space the sounds. The DX7s can produce a better alround array of sounds from the fattest bass to the most awesome pads. Its a PURE SYNTH. The Roland JX8P to which I consider better that both a jupiter 8 and D50.
Are these Original factory presets sound? Or you make / modified them by with the Joystick. I have a D-50 here, I have never heard before some of the Strings/Orchestral you played in the video.
Thanks for posting this, using the Roland D-50 - a cool synth when programmed optimally. The factory sounds are nowhere nearly as good as the D-50 is capable of producing. Terrific synth patches for this classic synth (& the M1, DX7 & D-20) can be found at manymidi.com
@xan1242 D-20 have very little to do with the D-50 though. None of the D series has the full architecture and depth of the D-50, nor does the JD800 for that matter. D-50 one of the best synths ever made and with a real synthesizer (not 'just a rompler') lurking inside. I program mine fine.
Very nice synth!!! i'm considering getting one of these, how much did you pay for yours, what would be a reasonable price to buy one for?
also, do you think this would be a good choice for a 2 man band like breathe carolina or cookiebreed? my friend and i are starting a techno/metal band. and we need a synth.
I have the D50 too and i will never split apart from it anymore. One of THE best and most prettiest synthesizers ever made (a lot of ingeneurs passion is inside). It can sound anyhow you like. Analog phat or digital clear, acoustic or spheric, gentle or harsch. By the way. I have pretty much of your preset sounds in my custom library aswell ;)
@ 3:37 sounds just like Foreigner's "I Don't Want To Live Without You"

I was just listening to Jean Michel Jarre today, after which I heard this demo of yours.
I didn't know JMJ used preset D-50 sounds for Revolutions!
Apparently the D-50 was for Revolutions what the Synthex was for Rendezvous…
Great demonstration, as usual!

@StrangeQuarkStar ... and what the Eminent was for OXYGENE. Thanks...

@StrangeQuarkStar
I´ve got some JMJ Sounds from "Revolutions" on my D-50.
Jarre used many of this presets on this Album.

Nice demo! Do you know if the Behringer BCR2000 can replace the PG-1000?
fystasjoppheng 1 year ago
@fystasjoppheng maybe I will try one, because the PG-1000 costs almost like a D-50 today.

@AnalogAudio1
That is right, I spend as much money for the PG-1000 as for the D-50.
