If only Mastodon did a live album. This is the closer. I imagine them going immediately going into this after the last song. No pause or anything, just straight into it. It would be the metal show to end all metal shows.
@Saviorofthefallen They taped their Chicago show last October for a DVD release (Crack The Skye + The Medley setlist) so it's a very real possibility that they could also take the audio and release in on CD as well. If not, you can always rip the audio off the DVD... ;-)
@dhigh57 i went to that show in grand rapids, michigan. it was kinda a bummer they didnt play this song but still one of the greatest moments of my life. bill was sick and didnt play that night either
Everytime ive seen Mastodon live theyve blown me the fuck away. Even before I knew who the fuck they were I saw them open for Slayer and I was fuckin lovin it. Whoever says they suck live can sit on a dildo, its FALSE.
i saw them live last night and let me tell you, this video does NOT do mastodon justice. i always thought they were bad live, but last night's gig at the roundhouse, they were amazing. front row, center. caught brann's drum stick!
check out aeon live by neurosis, you can see the influence. If you like mastodon, then they are right up your alley. check out locust star as well for a ridiculously badass performance.
shouldn't record vocals that will be challenging live. singing was bad on letterman also. Seen them live twice bt didnt notice the vocals until this album
@nirvanaaddict8989 well u mean it's tuned as CGCFAD in the record rite?? what i'm saying is they should tune it halfway down from that when playing live like play it BF#BEG#C# or whatever. get what i mean?? it's not gonna be as cool but maybe brent can get his pitch rite
@@ my favorite nirvana song is mexican seafood. or maybe lounge act.. i think is a tie @@
@ahmadaz96001 oh okay my bad i thought you ment half step down from standard lolz- yeah they are both great songs but all of kurts music is gold in my eyes i am really and addict of nirvana, alice in chains, melvins, mastodon, in flames, shadows fall... to many to list so i'll stop there ha
I was standing directly in front of troy at this show and it was soooo flipping great because this album and this song is so fucking amazing!!! I was too close too actually hear any of the singing - but it was still faboosh!!
try king crimson.......song called 21st century schizoid man. ive heard the guitar players talk about how influence them big time. that part at 5:50 is pretty much ripping off the song im talking about....check it out. ripping it off in a good way that is.
king crimson are wicked, didn't connect the dots to that song until i read that, it is very similar. These guys are influenced by some really great bands. love it.
I love what the keyboardist did for the songs on Crack The Skye.. they add a really cool element when its played live. I'm mad that I didn't catch the opening keyboard part for this song.
i find this song to be beautifully majestic

Saw them live for the first time at Bristol.
OMFG. My dick actually moved throughout the entire show!
I swear I nearly cried when they played The Last Baron as it's so well played in all aspects and such a good song to end the main act on.
This album helped me remember events for my A level History on Tsarist Russia! xD

Their melodic vocals at live are really bad,
I've seen them 3 times now, and they are melodically poor.
Still a great band!!!
PauloJorgeMonteiro 2 years ago
i think its the sound, their live vocals usually arent that bad, especially with the newer albums were they sing instead of scream.

So you're saying they should have made the album sub-par so they could sing it better live?
I would rather have bad live vocals that sound good on the album than mediocre vocs on both sides.

Hahaha "The last baron", "The count of tuscany"
I dunno man, I think that the count of tuscany, good as it is, is just a bit too draggy and pretentious for me.

@hammerandpray
realy dude??
well, maybe a litle repetitious with the instrumental, but i don't think is "pretentious"
... however, i can't say much cuz i'm a huge fan, sooooooo for me is good as it is.
so my opinion shouldn't count much
