I just order one of these (July 2011) the last one in stock at my store I know its already an old computer but I really like the slim design and cant wait to get my hands on it :)
Well not really if you have a bit of technical experience. You have to take out a few screws on the bottom then flip over and take out the keyboard and mouse cover then your done. You can youtube how to open a eee pc 1008ha and there should be a few videos. REMEMBER Always unplug the battery first if your gonna install ram or do anything on the inside.
Those idiot little doors: = TOTAL FAIL. I would not buy this because of the doors, or the integrated battery. Other EeePC models are designed much better.
I wanted to buy this but its too much expensive for that how small is it... It costs like 400€... For 400€ i can buy cheaper acer with 15,6' inch and like 2gb of ram etc... I think this one is one of nicest eee pcs but useless too because of prize...
i Just bought one for 120 dollars mint condition . I already installed a 2 gig ram and windows 7 . Also added copper shims to the heat sink for better cooling . In the software i downloaded gma booster and fsb overclocker . Works like a charm for a net book . Sad part is no 720 or 1080 videos can barely work even overclocked .
@cisco760ca Hi i just got one second hand for my daughter coming in post soon and i already have a EEE PC 900 with couple of batteries and i never realised that battery was inside can it be changed is it hard to get at?
@gavilaston first of all, this is a hands on, that's why the title says "hands on" and not "review". Besides that, what do you wanna know? I know all the specs, you are getting a feedback for the keyboard, trackpad and build quality... do you want me to check if it can fly?
sometimes i am really wondering about some commenters on youtube
Can u plz suggest a good netbook with HD LCD Display, wifi, blue tooth, 3G, LAN (Ethernet), USB, very good Audio/Video Playback for HD Video`s, TV Out (TV Tuner), 4-5 Hours battery life, light weight.
Noooo!! I wanted this one but unfortunately it wasn't in the shop that i looked for .... :( so, im buying the 1005ha one instead!!! But i rly wanted this one :(
I want to buy a light notebook and I'm a bit confused. I'm not so sure that the keyboard is easy to use and also I don't know that the 6 hour battery is enough or not. Usually when they say 6 hours of battery, it only works for around 2-3 hours! And I don't know whether to buy this one or 1005PE. If any one can help please leave me a comment... tnx
@MrPeaceMessenger I'll say it in few words only: do not hesitate to buy it. Works perfectly, no problems with keyboards, battery holds 4-6 hours. Take 1008HA.
Just google for boingboing hackintosh and you will find a chart of netbooks that can run os x. you will need to get a new wifi card for the 1008ha to make it compatible
sorry i have no clue what you are talking about. Like i said in the video, this was a preproduction sample with xandros linux, it is showing the easy mode and even this one has a desktop. It's only getting sold with XP Home and Win 7 Starter and both of them have of course a desktop!

ive been looking around and this seems to be the best netbook. Is this really the best choice in terms of both portability and performance if money is not a problem?
This is a top choice. I would also look at the Toshiba Nb200 & another netbook that has recently fallen into favor is the HP mini 5101. Of course so close to the release of Pinetrail in February 10 it might be worth holding off for the extra 4-6 hours of battery life!
yea.. i bought a 1005HA as well. Has 3USB ports, and a full sized VGA port. Also the battery isn't integrated, so you can get a 6 cell battery. Also the port aren't behind flimsy little flaps, but are rather exposed as is the case on most laptops. Otherwise, they are pretty similar
Nope! The 1005HA-M sports the N270, while the 1005HA-H comes with the N280. The performance difference is like 2%, mainly because of the higher FSB of the N280
the 1008ha might look better and of course it is slimmer but i would recommend the 1005ha-m which comes with a non-glossy display and has an exchangeable battery
Those recessed USB ports are cool. Means accessory manufacturers can build a 3G modem (or other USB) accessory that blends with the case curvature. No more modem plugs sticking out ! Especially the right hand recess is great for this.
