It was writen one time that one of Angus Youngs Influences was The Great Foghat I Saw them in thier original form and Lonesome Dave Was a True show man. my point? Dave allways said Foghat was state of mind. Ride on The Slow Ride
That tele has some hot pickups and hes gotta be runnin a hot pedal in front of that marshall to sound that thick. Ive got DMZ choppers in my tele and it is like LP with the pickups up high ... almost too dark
Believe the tune is called California Blues. Off Live II. Just saw these guys in June of 2011. Great energy and show. For those of you hanging onto the past: let it go! Foghat is on a huge tour through the end of the year. Check 'um out.
I have not liked the re-incarnated Foghat ever since I heard the first cut from the first album. I never liked the way they played the old Foghat songs - the guitarist simply wasn't as talented as Rod Price.
So I'm pleasantly surprised to say that I really like this song! I think this is the direction they should take the band - new songs, new stylings based on the blues/rock theme. This turns out to be their version of "I Just Want to Make Love to You" and I really like it!
Holy Crap!!! THis is terrific!!! I think I am going to have to go and film these guys when they come to town here soon with another of my favorite bands, whom they frequently tour with. Yeah.. it SHall be a Mission! Mini Dv--Digital Hi-Fi. I'll let you know when I do... THanks for posting this... DO you have "Slow Ride" from this video? J/M.
You all needed to see Foghat when Lonesome Dave and Rod Price were alive. Man, the Boogie brothers were alive, well and kickin' ass. Not taking anything away from the new incarnation, but original crispy is better than grilled.
I actually own 1 of the telecasters they used in Houston at the Plaza in the early 70s...I still play it today.....its a blonde and they actually borrowed it from Red Novak formerly known as Novak Music. Interesting story I aquired the AxE on my birthday at the age of 13 or 14, purchased by my grandmother in March....coinciding with their tour that weekend in Houston. Yep, she has tone ....
This is what I mean when I tell the younger guys about "carrying on a conversation" on guitars. These guys are masters at it. Wow!!!!! And yes, what incredible tone!! There's not many vids on youtube that have great sound, but the tone on this on makes shivers run up and down my spine!! YEAH!!!!!
fuck today's processed shit the bean counters are pushing. i don't think it matters what age, this is serious guitar blues/rock. this has feel...soul....nothing being shoved on us has this. today's crap disappears as soon as some other crap comes along. hope this attitude of guitar comes back around. kids need to get off the computer & do this playing for real
hay Charlie and guys Glenda Grand Rapids here when ya all commin home charlie love the Blues song Charlie you have are awsome how is Holly doing? well we are all getting a little older these day's :) Danny Jay"s vic,John oh my gosh glad your still with the reall music we grew up on nothin like ya all God BLess and keep rockin and let us know when and if you will be in GR k lv ya Glenda Holloway grand rapids
These guys were (are) the balls!!! As usual all they produced all good songs, something that most Bands of the 70"s did !!! Thanks so much for an forgotten awe some tune, even if there not the original band
What a joke, Clevelanders should be ashamed of themselves. The Rock and Roll Hall of Shame. What will it take, the cinders of Armageddon to change this fallacy?
@bwho Man, I HEAR ya!! That's how I feel about their exclusion of another AWESOME group - Rush - who has been steadily producing GREAT songs for well OVER 35+ years!!
we all know it's not the original Foghat, but god bless Charlie Huhn and the rest of them for knowing a great band and carrying on thier legend! Rock on Foghat!
The drummer and the bassist are the only original band members left. Lonesome Dave died about 7-8 years ago........such a shame. BUT, I saw these guys in '08 and they actually rocked almost like the original band. Great show. I saw Foghat back in the 70's and this was just as good!!
@nutz4all - the younger generation doesn't hear music like this because it isn't mainstream anymore like back in the 70's - they are stuck listening to all the mindless crap that passes for music these days because some record label can make money off it - you're right it IS sad - but at least thanks to youtube they can find it if they want to - this is REAL music

Roger Earl on drums is probably the only original member...I think Tony Stevens (bass) retired and all the other original members have died.

@ctfair Actually Craig MacGregor is on bass...He took over for Stevens back in the 70's around the FOOL FOR THE CITY era.....
