  • Please someone tell me what she said about the masa? I need to know asap/ I got confused bc the video cut off for a split second at the end while making the dough. SHe started making one with water and a package of chicken stock and then next it switch and was she making a different kind or adding to the one she was making? im so lost at 5:14 she says one thing than at 5:39 she says another. what?

  • Muchas Gracias senoras, double besos.

  • what kind of vinegar?

  • I don't know why people in the U.S boil the meat. Just live the meet by it self no water, then the pork meet frys on its own fat (Dont use lean meat). It is a long process, but that's how we make them

  • she didnt even make a mess if it were me there wud be crap everywhere. must.learn.how.to.make .pupusas! i love el salvadorrr!!!!

  • i can show you people how to mak them the right way and the curtido and salsa

  • can this be made with chicken

  • @joeredd11 Yes, you can. I would use chicken breasts or thighs, skin on, and bone-in. Besides the seasonings, add a chopped onion to the water. When cooked, skin, de-bone, and finely shred the meat. Add cheese or cooked vegetables.

  • @bersaidavega Thank you !!!!pupusas are the best food on this earth I do believe

  • @bersaidavega you're a dumbass if you use chicken, the appropriate ingredient is pork

  • Can somebody tell me what she added to the meat? I couldn't understand her? Thanks

  • @unlbob1 I am so sorry. You can find the recipe at bersaida.com

  • @bersaidavega Sorry, it was put under meats and poultry. Go figure.

  • This is a wonderful and concise video. I checked many and found it to be the best. We're originally from VA where you can find great ethnic food on every corner, but then we moved to Jax, FL and found almost none here. After 3 years of craving pupusas, I will be attempting to learn how to make them with your help. Dona Carmelina reminds me of our wonderful lady, Dona Maria, who took great care of our family in VA for 6 years and who made us MANY pupusas. Thank you for a great job!!

  • I followed the recipe exactly and it came out amazing! I can't believe I made pupusas, I thought it would be more difficult. Thank you!

  • MmMmmm PuPuSaS Con MuChOoooOo SaVoRrRrR

  • Everybody complains that "this is the wrong way of doing it". I'm from Mexico and I can tell you that the way we make tamales vary even within the same family, and we all think our way is best. I love pupusas and this is the most comprehensive video I found that completely explains the process of making pupusas. This may not be your way, but it's definitely a way. As someone new to the world of Salvadorian cooking, I thank you for making this video. I already started making the curtido! Thanks!

  • ha ah ha ah dumb salvadoriens they cant even talk there first language first thumbs up

  • Great video, thank you so much. El Salvador: beautiful country, beautiful people, beautiful food.

I'm a chef and at my restaurant I make them the mexican city , el salvador way

  • AHAH im eating some now!!! YES!!

  • Please dont substitute the corn oil for virgin olive oil because, like some of us know, olive oil has a perfumed aroma of olives do just as the recipe. This is a staple dish from El Salvador.

  • no mames. no puede ser. 1 and a half CUP of vineager

( 3dl ) in the coleslaw , thats just too much. the senora in the video does only pour a little . more like 1 and half tablespoon .......

  • @mahadevaji Oops I agree with you. I think she only added 1/2 cup. But ultimately, it is a matter of taste. Thanks for the observation.

  • made using real pupu

  • They look good but i would rather have listened to the lady speaking spanish

  • Sorry, girls, but I think MY pupusa video is better. (Not really.)

  • @Espiritukun NO SE NESECITAN INGRDIENTES SOLO CORTAR LA CARNE Y BUSCAR QUE CONTENGA MAS CARNE QUE GORDURA O GRASA PONERLE SAL AL GUSTO PONERLOS A FREIR Y YA TE LOS COMES CON TORTILLA O LOS MUELES Y HACES PUPUSAS SI EL CERDO NO ES CAPADO PONELE UN LIMON PARTIDO PARA QUE LE QUITE EL CHUQUILLO DE LA CARNE CUANDO ES UN CERDO NO CAPADO POR QUE LA CARNE YEDE A BARRACO FACIL .

  • what language is this??portuguese?

  • @maricuatica2008 ...spanish o.O

  • hahahah i swear that i didnt understand the lady's english hahahah

  • what kind of pork? what should I look for when I go to the supermarket? thank you for this informative video!

  • lol just buy them its easier

  • Dona Carmelina used pork butt, trimmed and cubed.

  • OMG! these came out soooo good. I altered alittle since i didnt have pork, I used a thick steak and braised it and slow cooked it till it was soft and then shredded N added cheese & loroco. It was awesome. I only made a small amount, just wanted to verify the dough base. Is it just one cup more water than masa mix? I found another recipe asking for 2 cups masa and 1 cup water and it was way to dry, I ended up adding 3 cups water for it to come out right. was so easy I love that you made a video!

  • I like how the guy is just singing about food and coffee

  • TE QUEREMOS DAR LAS GRACIAS POR ESTE EXCELENTE VIDEO..DESDE U.S.A..ES L NUMERO UNO DE YOU TUBE PARA HACER PUPUSAS..(y creeme buscamos muuuchooo) thank you sooo much!!!!!

  • Wow! Gracias. El honor ha sido mio.

  • what did she put in the meat ?

  • She added vinegar, garlic, salt, chicken bullion, and achiote seasoning Goya.

  • wow she makes it look pretty easy to make lol i have to learn! my husband loves pupusas

  • Do you happen to know how to make the rice flour variation? I quite enjoy the ones made with rice flour, but I wasn't sure about the dough. Is it just rice flour and water?

  • Hey there...Thanks for da video!!!!

I'm hella hungry...I'll see u guy later...I'm about to eat 4 pupusitas yummy!!!!!!!

  • WOW! Thank you so much for posting this. I moved from L.A. to a part of TX. where they dont even have Salvadorean food or people. I used to love this dish, since you can find it almost anywhere in L.A. but since I'm not Salvadorean i never knew how they were made. Thank you so much. I can wait to make some very soon! By the way, what kind of pork does the woman in the video use? as in the cut of the pork? Thank you in advance for any info you may share with me.

  • I am so happy you are going to be able to make your own pupusas now. They freeze pretty well, too. Just prepare them, let them cool, place them on a tray, and put in the freezer. When they get hard freeze them again in a ziploc bag. When you are ready to eat them, microwave for a couple of minutes. They will taste like you just prepared them. About the kind of pork, I believe she used pork shoulder. The meat was very lean. Thanks for your comment and enjoy!

  • Thanks for your reply, I havent made them yet, but i really appreciate the fact that you mentioned that they can be freezed. That encorages me to make them even more now, especially since they will taste pretty much the same as they did when they were first made.

  • I tried making pupusas this evening. They turned out delicious, but I had a problem with the filling coming out of the dough when I flattened them. What am I doing wrong?

  • I prepared the chicken filling yesterday and I agree with you. Unless you let it dry completely, it is too wet. Maybe we need to replace the tomato with tomato paste dissolved in 1/2 cup of the reserved liquid. You can also use the same pork recipe, add the cilantro, and just shred it without the cheese.

Sorry it didn't completely work. I usually use this chicken filling for a kind of shepherd pie I prepare with mashed boiled yellow plantains; also for empanadas with rasins and boiled eggs.

  • I prepared a ground beef filling. I made sure that most of the water evaporated, so there was very little moisture. Maybe my dough was either too soft or too hard. In you video, the chef is making a lot of dough. I only wanted to make about 8 pupusas so I didn't know the correct ratio of water to masa. I just guessed. Thanks.

  • For those of us who do not eat pork, can we use chicken or beef. If so, how do we prepare them?

    Thanks for the video!

  • Season chicken with salt and pepper and place it with onion, celery, pepper, garlic, bay leaf, and cilantro. Cover with water, and poach until chicken is cooked through, about 20 minutes. Transfer chicken to a plate; reserve 1 cup cooking liquid. Skin, de-bone and finely shred the meat.

Place the cooked chicken in the saucepan. Stir in the 1 tbs. vinegar, reserved liquid, and 1 cup crushed tomatoes. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes or until sauce thickens.

  • You'll be surprise how good and lean this pork recipe is. However, here is one with chicken. Let me know if you need more details. Bersaida

  • Thanks for the instructions for making the chicken filling. I'm sure the pork is delicious, but I do not eat it for religious reasons. Thanks again.
