  • Just out of curiosity can anyone tell what kinda of bass that is?? I know its a fender but I cant tell whether it is a P- bass or Jazz.

  • @GunGrave112985 It's Fender 5 String Jazzbass

  • I watched the whole thing and waited for him to feck up, he didnt i feel pathetic

  • i love how he isnt looking at his hands....

  • I feel like slapping my mom across the face after watching this

  • Are all electric bass guitars lighter than the average electric?

  • @MrStoryoftheyear much more heavier

  • @MrStoryoftheyear do you mean between 6 string electrics and electric basses? Because there are many factors which make certain guitars heavier than others like the kind of wood it's made of, and the size. But I would say that most basses generally have a larger scale neck and body but can be quite light as well.

  • cant get enough of this.

  • WOW!!!!!

  • Get hin outta that tie. Freakin awesome.

  • Cartman was right about all black people being able to play bass. . .

  • Thanks, O'Neal, for showing David and me this!

  • did mean to sound cocky in my last comment i meant to say i can only compare to him when he isn't slapping so i gotta work on that

  • @joeyda25 Your last comment didn't sound cocky, because it too incoherent to understand.

  • lol I think he was better as a kid , did they put this threw the studio listen to the cleaness of this and it is so hard to play clean with a lot of trebble im 15 and can't compare to his slappin but if you compare this to a him in Hollywood i would tear up what did there his slappin is so good im mad right now lol he gave me goose bumps at 3:31 no homo lol

  • To bassyness and bowser, if it is funk, gospel, rock, metal, or bluegrass; it does not matter. Six, five, four, or Tony Levin's three string musicman; the bass can get the job done and anyone playing such a thing will be considered a bassplayer . If they slap the bass, walk the bass, or just slide on one string, it's all good. Stop being so ignorant!!!!!!!!!!
  • @byjuu246 bitch shut up

  • I used to think i was good...

  • No no no. This is all wrong. He's in a suit and tie, playing funk? I get if it was supposed to be sarcastic, but they're treating the bass like a violin.

And bassyness, you're a fucking dolt. Is playing a Viol cheating? It's like a violin, but wait, it has six strings, and frets. Oh no! Those low down dirty cheating viol players! To hell with them, and those 7, 8, and 12 string guitarists, and 5, 6, 7, and 8 string bassists!

  • @Socioistic A 12 string guitar is used for the different styles that it play (like folk). But as far as I know bass is used for every style and the 4 strings that it has seem to work well for every style. 5 string basses are just giving the player a bigger advantage. and 6 string is just stupid, cause then your not a bass player-your a guitar player. Brandon is playing a 5 string. a bass has four strings-maybe you should do more research on the bass. There is no need for another string.

  • @bassyness

The twelve string guitar is used in Rock and roll, metal, folk, classical, and many other sub-genres of said music; the six string guitar is used in- well look at that: all the same genres of music.

Music is a living thing, like fashion; it is always evolving, and our ideas about music, along with our instruments change with it; if we didn't, blues, jazz, rock, and most every other genre ever would have never came to be.

  • @Socioistic I agree with you 100% in the fact that music has always been evolving. from classical to concert > jazz> rock> metal>rockcore>rap>hip hop>techno. Music is a way of life and expression. There is always a song that everyone can relate to in every situation. Music is magical. No words, No pictures. It's truly amazing how you could express emotions in sounds, in only 12 notes, that are the building blocks of music. Everything you hear is one of those 12 notes. Thats the power of music!

  • @bassyness

Right you are, sir! Music communicates to humans in a way that no other input does; it's a magical thing. I just have to wonder, why do you see an extended range bass guitar as "cheating?"

  • Lord Have Mercy lol.. He put grown men to shame lol

  • @SouloSwang Thanks

  • unreal Brandon!

  • this kid is incredible for such a young age. this little dude has a very promising future.

  • holy shit that kid is amazing and that song is also

  • i think im gonna start playing guitar...

  • And he in not even a totally black bassist!!!!

  • little dude i hope fender are hooking you up you are awesome!!!

  • now lets see if he could do that on a 4 string, like a REAL bass player

  • @bassyness wow, what ignorance. If anything, him playing a 5 stringer is more difficult just on account of his physical size and his hands

  • @Bowser28 an extra string is an extra advantage. The instrument called bass has FOUR strings not 5, not 6. FOUR-its always been that way it always should. using a 5 ot 6 string bass is what I look at as cheating. Why doesnt he just play the same thing he just played on a 4 string. nothing says he cant! but he is playing the 5 string because he cant play it on the four string-like a real BASS player should.

  • @bassyness

If you actually watched the video, and used your ears instead of your narrow-sighted eyes, you would have noticed the fill (that, judging by your immature attitude, you probably can't play or even comprehend the scale it's in) from 1:07-1:10. This ends on a low Db, a note that is, surprise surprise, IMPOSSIBLE on a 4-string (even with a D-extender tuner). The resulting bridge, lasting until about 1:30, is in Db dorian, where the strong, low root is unapproachable by a 4 stringer.

  • @Bowser28 if its impossible for you and brandon to play that on a four string-then you guys both probably are not bass players. You could use octaves and other different notes. Nothings impossble on the bass. People like you and brandon just always want to take the easy way out.

  • @bassyness What is the role of the bass player? To form the low end and foundation for the song in which you are playing. What better way to form the low end than to play the low octave of whatever key you're in, ESPECIALLY in gospel music (which at this point I'm just gonna assume you don't listen to because you wouldn't have the retarded inspiration to say the stuff you're saying). Listen to Fred Hammond, Maurice Fitzgerald, and most importantly, Sharay Reed and you'll see they're "real"

  • @Bowser28 but he's not playing gospel! he's playing funk! no need for 5-strings there!

  • @bassyness So you are conceding that there is in fact a time where there is a need for 5 strings. Already starting to go back on your statements? Nice. And who here thinks that a song with such a religion-glorifying title as "Hold Up the Light" isn't a gospel song?? I hope you're not just saying it's funk because of him slapping- that would be absolutely retarded. Slap is used in Gospel quite often, check out the live version on youtube of "I want my Destiny"- Fred Hammond

  • @Bowser28 I know that 5-string is used in most gospel. I knew that from the beginning, ever since I wrote that comment. I find it funny how you think that this is a gospel song just because of the title. I know gospel has slap! buy funk has it too-and just cause the title is hold up the light don't mean its a gospel. If you listen to the song you would be able to understand that this is not a gospel song and this is not a 5 string situation. A real bass player could've played this on a 4 string.

  • @bassyness "It's time for all of us, who claim in god we trust, to take a stand". This song has some elements of gospel. And for the record there is no such thing as a standard, established 'situation' in terms of using a bass on any particular song. It is up to the bassist to determine what instrument he feels he will be able to use in the best way for the song, and in this case Brandon chose to use a 5-string. Yes, perhaps another bassist could have played on a 4, but that doesn't matter.

  • @Bowser28 maybe if you watched more of brandon's videos you will find that he always plays a 5-string. I know the bass is the players decision-most gospel players prefer a 5-string. Brandon doesn't play gospel so playing a 5 string is his choice but there is definatley no need if he almost always plays funk. Therefore I predict that he cant play a four string and therefore is not a bassist.

  • @bassyness is a 5-string bass considered a bass? Yes. Therefore he is a bassist, end of story. I'm done with you, you will obviously never open your eyes to reason.

  • @Bowser28 right on man... i got every word you were sayin, and couldn't agree more... i am surprised you haven't tracked this douche down and given him a slap upside the head! prob wouldn't have helped his reasoning skills no more...

oh and by the way, 'bassyness', i got a question for you. i play both 4 AND 5 string basses, so what the f#$% does that make me....? if 4 string players are REAL and anything else is cheating.... i am genuinely curious to hear what you think about that.... ha ha!

  • @bassyness Lol.... I mean i kno u have been bombarded with comments of how stupid you are but i just have to join in and beat up on you to. A 4 string has no low B string so you cant hit notes like low Eb or low C#. But the B string on a 5 string guitar helps us to do this. A six string
