  • that still bugs me about the loss of my lunch pail when i saw the man that took it.

  • the orange and black engine in the very beginning is in the new movie "unstoppable" with denzel washington

  • @supergodzilla33 Wasnt this the yard in the opening part of "Unstoppable" where the bozo train crew loses the train???

  • @TheZeke1974 I haven't seen the movie, but I don't think they filmed it at this yard. they did use some wheeling and lake erie engines/trackage as far as i know...

  • great video....doesnt the tracks outside of rook cross a trestle near the entrance of fort pitt tunnel??

  • Thanks, glad you liked it. Yes, there's a WLE trestle over the parkway west just south of the Fort Pitt tunnels. They also have a trestle over West Liberty Ave. just south of the LIberty Tunnels. Actually, if you head south on Rt 51, you can see about half a dozen trestles up on the hillside.

  • Where is this Rook Yard At? I might plan a trip out there sometime..

  • It's right next to the intersection of Rt. 50 and Mansfield Avenue in Greentree, not far from Parkway Center Mall.

  • oh ok the one out on 279?

  • Yeah, if you take 279 from downtown and go out towards the airport, you'll see Rook on the right side between the Greentree and Carnegie exits.

  • Ok, thanks! If im ever out that way and dont have anything to do i'll make my way there

  • the prime movers sound like GP40s in disguise (they're turbocharged, I'm assuming?)

  • You may be right, but I'm not exactly sure. W&LE has so many rebuilt engines that it's hard to tell anymore. I'll see what I can find out, though.

  • That's Kool Is there any ex UP engine on any W&LE you have not railfan

  • Speaking of Ex: Up units, there are a Trio of Ex: CNW/UP that now belong to HLCX that are seen every once and a while around the Pittsburgh area

  • Those diesels reminds me of the D&RGW railroad Great railfan video & those diesels sounds great to me

  • They actually have several former D&RG units, and some still have the Rio Grande name on them.

  • Great video clips!
