stop shopping->bring down the GDP->get people unemployed / shop -> support the exploitation of natural resources and workforce + go daft / middle way : shop but dont get consumed by consumerism and inform yourself about the things you buy.
@ElenaEvgenjevna If you stop shopping you won't bring down GDP, that can only happen i you stop working, or if you work and put your money under your bed. If you have money in the bank, that money is being spent on your behalf, and you are contributing.
Plus, if you stop shopping you will probably die, so there really is no option today, unless you can manage in the wild. I don't think informed consumerism is very ideal either, as it is easy to exploit that tendency too.
@astroboomboy what do banks spend money on? To finance debt or securities..not on commodities. I used tho think a decrease in consumer spending affects the GDP..whatever. Hope for what? A perfect world? Of course not.
@ElenaEvgenjevna Banks invest in everything, they lend money, invest in bonds, invest in businesses by lending, etc., the money you put in the bank will in most cases be invested in something that leads to growth in GDP. The only way to bring down GDP and spending is to stop working, or work as little as possible.
@astroboomboy I know what banks invest in. Without growth in demand for goods and services there is no growth in GDP. Why the fuck to invest in businesses if people dont buy what they offer. Yes by incurring debts they can survive for a while but if they dont have sufficient reveues the cant pay back the loans, which is very bad for the banks. Without demand no supply, without supply no production and jobs, no economy, duh.
@astroboomboy Of course you can not not shop at all, but if all people would only buy food and the basic things they need to survive, a hell a lot of people would loose their jobs. Since resources are very limited i guess we should emphasise on services rather than on commodities now. But then again..'in the long run we're all dead' and this planet wont exist for ever so its all relative. Sorry if my english is not perfect.
@ElenaEvgenjevna What you don't realize is that the money would be invested in foreign firms if you stopped shopping in your country and put your money in the bank. Your idea would be on an international scale. Anyway, the idea is unfeasible, purchasing power is growing every day, and we will consume more every year. There is no way to stop it because people have been induced to think that life is work.
@astroboomboy Internatianal business is one of my majors in university, so I realise, thank you. What my idea? When did I say that people should stop shopping, I said the opposite. I dont get your point anymore. Purchaising power is rising everyday? Tell that to Greek, Spanish, Romanian businessmen. Well theres no need to induce that because its a fact. Live is, in a large part, work. Has always been´, will always be, under any economical, social system.
@ElenaEvgenjevna Purchasing power is rising on a global scale, what is happening to the countries you mentioned are local. You said that if people stopped shopping GDP would go down, but that would have to be on a global scale. If the whole of US stopped shopping but continued to work and produce, and put their money in banks, the GDP would not go down. Life has for the most part been hunting and gathering, not waged labor.
@astroboomboy Ah ok. I was never talking about the US only, I always referred to the global scale. But even if we're talking about the US only, its not a good idea to 'stop shopping'. You dont consider hunting and gathering work?? I think that sounds like fucking hard work and what is worse, people had no choice. And so is agriculture that has been around since the Neolithicum since 10000 years or so - VERY hard work, believe me. I know how hard.
@ElenaEvgenjevna I would never suggest either that one should stop shopping or to stop working. But, if people stopped shopping, it would not automatically reduce GDP. On a global scale that would happen. I have no idealistic thoughts about humans. We are complex animals that are driven by irrational desires. One day our race will die, and it will cease to make sense. Life to me is just a ride, an epiphenomenal experience. Hopefully something better will one day exist.
Give your bucks to China and what are the chances you'll ever see them again? They're more likely to buy gov't bonds to get even more of your money. Give a buck to a neighbor and it won't be long before it comes back to you and your friends.
Isn’t it cathartic? … For a girl who belittled small businessmen - businesswomen and their “SHIT” at The Javitz Center …Is this video with the good reverend means that you have seen the light of support your local “SHIT” peddler, or it’s just an exercise in oxymoronic video production?
I agree :) doesn't hurt to try that kind of economy actually, we should all be part of the 1%!! (Lol joking) ! even though i'm not religious, nor believe religion should be of weight in decision making, well.. he has a good point.
@theresident : Not directly related, but have you checked the new volume of Philip K. Dick's Exegesis, and if so would you give us your enlightening opinion about it when you have time?
The whole buy local idea looks good on the surface, but if everyone only bought local, they'd only get what is produced locally, and producers would be limited to the local market to sell their goods. The stricter you get to that policy, the closer you get to a stone age economy.
But it's more self righteous to say things which sound good.
@kueballl There is not a danger of that happening. If it gets somewhere near that, we'll be the first to know. We aren't even getting close to "buy local" turning us into the "stone age".
There is PLENTY more beneficial things that can be done in the arena of "buying local".
You are sounding like the manager of a national chain store.
I grew up in a town, less than 20k and we had SIX grocery stores, four hardware stores & at least 5 FULL service stations. Now? 2 grocery stores (none mom & pop), two hardware stores (none mom & pop). and two mechanics. Screw the box stores. I want Mom & Pop back!!!
Those big chain stores started off as little neighborhood five and dimes, but grew into goliaths of industry. Globalization was like the Dr. Jekyl elixir that has allowed those businesses to sell their souls and to mass produce products in 3rd world countries so their share holders can have that new Lexus and their wives can have epic shopping sprees. They used to be human, now they just remind me of the MCP in Tron, no life, and you are just "User (insert name). But thanks for the post Lori.
Buy a slinky! It's inexpensive, it's lots of fun, it lasts a long time...and most importantly, it's MADE IN USA! Walmart has them for $3. It's not so much where you buy the stuff, but where it's made. If it's made in USA, and you buy it, you are putting Americans to work. If it's made in China, you are putting poor children to work in sweat shops.
Yes Lori, lets hear more from New York City folk wearing $2000 suits, with $50 worth of gel in their hair, fresh from an afternoon Botox session - telling us about how bad consermerism is.
How about you do the interview from his 5th avenue apartment next time?
@watevatube They already do. Not in geographically way, more in demographically way. At least Chinese do. Wrong communist country, more "social" traffic.
Look USA is one country. The less a state does.. economically. The more power go's to Washington. The FED gives billions to stimulate the economy in 'poor' states. Without succes and with succes. What states in the US should do is search for what they're good at. Search their export capabilities on macro level. Villages will always be micro leveled likable business partners. The meso public go's for cheap or likable. The micro entrepreneur will always lose on many occations.
@MrStillmans He's promoting micro economy. Means he's fond of living in a village and aware of how economy works on micro level. Something else would be, when his village would export or sell products to other villages. His village didn't do that.
I know a good macro market for the USA. Buy a lot of Dutch cows, incl. Dutch logistic intellects and USA set foot or food at South American countries. But hey.. Mexico could also do that, when they wouldn't be continually being harassed by mafia practises and corruption. USA already buys Dutch knowledge. Do something with it. Only by export an economy can grow.
Something an OWS protestor said in one of your videos changed the way I shopped this year. Now whenever I feel like buying something I ask myself if I'm happy now without that item; the answer is usually yes, so I don't buy it. The only things I asked for this Christmas are jackets, shirts, stationary supplies, and a thermos. That's what I needed, things that I would be happier with.
So thank you for asking people the right questions =]
@Brulluhman In France, ALL sheep are slaughtered according to Muslim conditions. People sell their faith to get the customers. White men are on their way out, as others have many more kids
@wwwonderful I don't distinguish people by their color. According to Islamic Khomeini hadith they are also allowed to have sex with animals, but only when they sell that meat in another village or country. I wouldn't buy French meat at all.
@Brulluhman For one so tolerant, you have extrempely sectarian ideals. It is very possible that you eat French meat without knowing it. Pork, for example
@wwwonderful We're the biggest exporter when it comes to vedgetables, meat and loots of other stuff in the world. Why would we eat French meat? French meat sucks. Everybody buys Dutch cows.
@wwwonderful Argentina? more Britain thing. Maybe we buy and control their biggest port in the future. That doesn't mean we're going to live there. Hambuger costs 4 euro over there.
@Brulluhman You have only negative comments about : jews, muslims, the French, the British, the USA. I wonder why so many people flee the Netherlands to go to those countries, plus Spain. It can't be that good in the Netherlands. Here in the Cayman Islands life is just fine
@wwwonderful I'm against Jews when it comes to their ideas about Christianity, not only about Christianity, also about Christians. Jews have so much to tell about nazi's killing them, while they don't remove their citates that tells to kill all Christians, even the best Christian. My grandparents hided Jews during WW2. How nazi is that? I believe Jews should make up their mind about certain things. Not their Torah, but the rest of it.
@Brulluhman Don't worry. Not all jews are Zionists, just as all men are not racists. I just take each person individually, avoiding putting labels on a group. Otherwise we'll all be fighting forever, and that's not ideal
@wwwonderful I'm a zionist. I believe people have the right to make something of their own country and enjoy the bennefits of that. I believe you can show people the way on micro level, meso level and also macro level. People should be taken responsible for their own actions. City wise, state wise and country wise.
@wwwonderful Islam isn't a religion, more a cultus. Science in the quran contains the exact same mistakes as old Greek science. Sura 23:12-14 and the science of Galen. Don't foget that the Quran was written after the Arabs conquered Alexandria. Before that, Alexandria and Greece shared a lot of knowledge. In 1400 years the only thing that has been invented in the Islamic world, was coffee and sex with goats. The first we could have invented ourselves. Amazing how they came up with the rest.
@Brulluhman Every religion that has a holy book is a cult, period. ...and religions don't truly know who wrote their books.
... most people don't have time to give a crap about the explanations of authors, alleged divine revelation, proper translation etc.
We are busy first and foremost trying to find ways to get along ~as humanity, The elitist cults with their scriptures (causing mostly bloody wars) get in the way of human progress.
@woodsprout Our culture and language is based on Judaism/Chritianity/Modern Humanism (invented by an ex-catholic with a Christian vision) and old Greek philosophical norms and values. Most bloody wars have been caused by Atheists, like Hitler, Mao, Stalin and people like Kim Jong Il. For the rest not every religion is a cult. If you don't like our western culture, most closest thing to Atheism is a culture like North Korea has. By the way our western human rights are a result of Christianity.
Really? Most bloody wars were caused by atheists? I didn't know that? Would you care to provide your source for that? Also, Hitler was an Atheist? Please, I'd love to see your sources for that as well...and I can assure you western human rights were not the result of Christianity. For example, slavery was predominately practiced in the south and southerners were ferociously Christian. If you do some research you would know much of their justification came straight from the bible.
@penn919 Christians ended slavery. The period of 200 years is still a short time when you compare it to other continents. Africa still has slavery, during the colonisation, African sold slaves to the colonisers. Asia still has slavery, China, India, North Korea. The Middle East (Asia) still practise slavery. Hitler is a case that he was raised as catholic, but was an ex-catholic in his days. Second when we talk about Mao and Stalin, we talk about above 200 million victems.
OK first off, your first point is moot. What difference does it make that Africa or any other country had slavery? So then it was okay for the American Christians to do the same? Secondly, there is no concrete proof that Hitler was an Ex-Catholic, and for the record, he was NEVER ex-communicated. Thirdly, atrocities of Mao, Stalin, etc to the countless atrocities committed their religious counterparts because you have to adjust for their FAR superior technology.....
Just think what could've happened in the Dark Ages if they had Machine guns, misses, tanks, and war planes....yeah that's what I thought.
I'm not even going to Humor your last argument. That guy was a Christian terrorist pure and simple. He self-identified himself as such...and even if he did claim to be Atheist, his influences were clearly Christian. Knights Templar? Crusades? Preservation of Monocultural Christian Europe. Does that sound like an atheist to you? Oh please.
@penn919 No he identified the western culture as Christian and therefor called every western citizen a Christian. Breivik himself is an agnost, but mostly an atheist. Since you don't have his manifesto.. and I do. I'll place some of his writings here. I don't buy the Norwegian psychologists. Paranoid, yes, he is, otherwise the Norwegian police or secret services would have captured him long time before. No empathy. But scitzo?? I don't think so. Breivik didn't even believed in democracy.
@penn919 What would Atheists have done when they would have it, btw.. those are inventions done in a western culture based on Christian norms and values. First gun was invented in Czech republic instead of Spain.. with their pistolera. Fire powder was invented in China, fireworks. To chase away ghosts. Got a vid for you search later.
What would've atheists done? That will never be known. Atheists have no equivalent of the inquisition, crusades, Salem witch trials. But I suppose there might have been...had they not been put to death by Christians just for being Atheists. And one other thing, Atheists such as Mao and Stalin didn't commit their atrocities on behalf of their Atheism, they were motivated by their religious-like political ideology. I say state worship is no better than worshiping gods.
@penn919 That's easy, so when Atheists do something, you say Atheists didn't got motivated by Atheism. That's like blaming the unemployment on the people who work, because that all started when someone finally did something, the rest became unemployed. Atheism is nothing, so they aint responsible. Why don't you move to an Islamic country, because that's what Europe would have looked like if it wasn't for crusades and inquisition. Or to North Korea, closest cultural thing to Atheism.
Easy? Well yeah. It's pretty obvious too. There isn't anything in atheism that can motivate you to do anything. That's something only religion and ideology can do. That's why you can never blame it. If you do, you might as well say that murders commit crimes because they don't believe in fairies & elves. That wouldn't make any sense. There is no evidence that atheism causes violence or atrocities, but the same can''t be said for religion...and by the way, that analogy made no sense.
@penn919 A-theism is the lack of believe in God, theism is believing in a God or more gods. Now when Atheists blame religious people for their doing things wrong. First of all you should be able to find the motivation of those actions in their religion. Because religion is something else than religious. When you do measure by just looking at if people are religious or not, you should do the same with Atheists. Believe - action - result. Atheists believe in nothing, so it is nothing.
@penn919 So Atheism is more like being unemployed and blaming people who work for their mistakes. Telling everyone how good you are because you don't make any mistakes. Believe - action - result. Like I told, Atheism is nothing.
Well it's strange you look at it that way. From the way I see things, religious folks love shoving the blame on atheists for things they know damn well has nothing to do with them. If you understand that atheism is nothing, why are Christians so quick to place blame on atheism? Why must I continue to hear over and over again by you religious folks about how atheism lead to mass murderers like hitler and stalin? Seems like your kind is the one doing the blaming for your own failings
@penn919 What blame? The only thing I see, is that Atheists like to applaus themselves a lot while they have a lack of self reflection when it comes to Atheists. When you are in a hell hole called prison. Probably most people even atheists start to believe that there must be something better. And they are there to think about what they've done.
"The only thing I see, is that Atheists like to applaus themselves a lot while they have a lack of self reflection when it comes to Atheists."
I won't deny that such is probably the case sometimes, but the same doesn't apply to Christians? Are Christians not always running around telling everyone how immoral they are and how we're all going to hell? If Christians were as "self-reflective" as you desire atheists to be, then there would be no need for such behavior. they should be...
@penn919 Nope. Christians are not hypocrites at the basic. Jesus died for our sins. Before you believe anything like that, you say that you are not without sins. Atheism is nothing.
Jesus was a Jewish revolutionary who was killed by Roman authorities for challenging the political order of his day...that's it. He's dead. It's time to let him rest in peace. Every individual is accountable for his or her own actions. Leave the fantasy behind. Know one can shoulder your wrongs for you. Correct what you can, and as for the rest....you just have to bear the consequences.
@penn919 Look, believe - action - result. All entrepreneurs do that. They believe in something.. completely nuts. Suddenly jobs exist. When we want a lovely world. People should believe in Love. Believing is not something you do on your own. Neutral respect is also one of the basics of Love. For Christians God is Love and when it comes to love people may/should have their boundaries. With Atheïsm that's not the case. I also believe those pedophiles in the Catholic church hate Christianity.
Sir, I completely agree with you on that, and I don't think I ever hinted otherwise. I may be an atheist, but that only describes what I'm not. Not what I am.
(Continued)....more than busy handling their own shortcomings rather than running around acting all self-righteous and patronizing towards others. Atheists couldn't even dream of rivaling the level of serial hypocrisy from the Christian community.
I don't deny that he was catholic. I was just pointing out that even if he was an atheist, that wouldn't mean all the bad things he did were because of atheism. It would be because of his political ideology....but as we all know, Hitler most certainly wasn't an atheist.
Continued.....Just go check the prison statistics. Even when you adjust for population percentage, Christians out number atheists many times over. Don't blame atheists for that.
In fact, I bet they got most of their cultish ideas from religious types such as yourself.. So as with Breivik, It seems these atheists were infected by the culture of religious obedience and dogmatism.
@penn919 Even Modern Humanism was invented by an ex-Catholic... I mean infected by Christianity. I think that's what Breivik meant with his comment on monocultural Christian Europe. Our culture is based on those norms and values and old Greek philosophical ones. When we would have lived in a Pegan culture, we probably would have sacrificed babies for lovely weather. But hey.. Atheism isn't responsible, atheism is nothing.
It's very disingenuous of you to presume that humanism was "invented" by an ex-Catholic. First of all, humanism doesn't even imply a lack of religion. You can be an atheist humanist as well as a Christian, Islamic, Buddhist, humanist. If you meant "secular" humanism, than it would certainly be far fetched to presume that no one in history has ever done anything good in spite of religion until a certain ex-catholic came along. The word may have been invented, but the practice wasn't.
@penn919 That's why i'm telling "modern" humanism. Humanism doesn't imply religion, but it does imply Christian norms and values. Atheism is nothing more than that you don't believe in a God or more gods. Theism are people that do believe in a god or more gods. There is no such thing as an Atheist Christian. Because Christians believe in a God. What Atheists can do is practise the Bible or practise Yoga, that doesn't make you a Christian nor a Buddhist.
Sir, please provide evidence that humanism imply's "Christian values". The main focus of Christianity is getting a ticket into heaven or as you would call it "Salvation". That's very different than in humanism. Any individual in history, whether before or after Christianity, who believed in doing good in spite of religion could be considered a humanist. The actual person who coined the word is a trivial point.
@penn919 Breivik wrote: "Regarding my personal relationship with God, I guess I'm not an excessively religious man. I am first and foremost a man of logic. However, I am a supporter of a monocultural Christian Europe." Breivik writings are all about his country is being taken over by immigrants. What makes it scary. 'Der Spiegel' German newspaper wrote that during the attack there was a lot of chearing on Islamic forums. A Jihadist group called 'Ansar al-Jihad al-Alami' claimed the attack first.
@penn919 I'm always surprised by Atheists that like to point religions on their mistakes, while they forget to measure their own mistakes with that. When you point someone on behaviour, you should at least show some selfreflection when it comes to your own group. Take Breivik for instance. Atheists are very quick to say he's a Christian and that Christians are just the same terrorists as Muslims. From there they applause themselves. Breivik was an Atheist (page 1344 and 1404 of his manuscript).
@Brulluhman Hey I'm no "atheist", and certainly not as you describe it. When people take their holy books with such literal seriousness, they are behaving in a cult manner.
Also, the founding of the USA, with slavery PLUS native conquest is quite an ugly stain. Does "Human rights" mean human rights on hold permanently and/or for undetermined amount of time, until we convert/absorb you ?
Religion is cultural. Culture is geographical. The origins have been mixed up by migration.
@woodsprout First tell me what your are. I'm not a Catholic, but a (free) protestant. The founding of the USA with slavery PLUS native conquest?? Also the Indians had black slaves. When you ask an African where he want's to live most. In the USA or in Africa. What do you think he would say? I don't see African American run to Africa.. going wild about how good black people treat them or they want to build up the continent with the knowledge they have.
@Brulluhman Simply, It's none of your god damn business what a person with African ancestry wants to do. ...and you could have kept it that way. ...if your religion was so stand alone awesome.
@woodsprout I think our human rights came closer to the Bible in time, than that it has been practised in the past. Now we deal with immigrants, that have other opinions about 'human' rights. When it comes to muslims, they have a pact of Umar that says, non-Islamic people don't have rights at all. Of course muslims have some "obligations" towards non-muslims, but with sura 2.106 (abragation sura), I don't think they do or isn't that peaceful.
@wwwonderful Maybe the reason why France is exporting 'pork' from Holland, is because we're world leader when it comes to logistics (international trade). Holland also advises other countries, works together with other ports. So when there's a ship coming in Holland knows what capacity the country has to ship things over or .. knows what ship is avaible to do so. From A.. to Z. When you want to ship something. You end up in Shang Hai, have to find a transporter for destination x your screwed.
@wwwonderful Maybe the reason why France is exporting 'pork' from Holland, is because we're world leader when it comes to logistics (international trade). @2nguyen2 Nope, I think he has a good point. Although in practise it only can work that way in villages. Where you do your shopping at the locals.. the baker, the butcher, where the baker and butcher buy products directly from farmers. That's where everybody knows each other. In the city, it's about being the cheapest and maybe the church buys from their own members to do certain jobs.
Well soon there will be no more stores period anyhow. We will all shop on line and our purchases will be delivered or picked up at a universal central pick up point. Possibly a drive through.
When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." Ô, Billy, don't be a zero, give away that flashy suit and gain in crediBILLYty
i know consumerism is bad. but to be honest, what alternative is there? we dont stand a chance to stand up and make a diference unless politically someone drastically changes something. the way i see it, we're already too deep in this hole to do anything about it. with the USA as the leader of the free world, developing countries are only going to adopt more of this culture. just look at china now. im all for change, but what feasible alternative is there that wont sacrifice much of my comfort?
@Brulluhman When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
@wwwonderful Because everybody wants to move here. When I go the the supermarket. I first pass a Turkish one, than some pizza hut runned by Chinese, than some Serbian restaurant, after that some Afro shop, some Turkish hairdresser, a multiculti center, an Indian restaurant, another Afro shop, a Egyptian shoarma restaurant, another Indian restaurant and then I finally at the Dutch supermarket.
@Brulluhman I have seen the same phenomenon while I lived in London, Paris, and Naples. The world is becoming cosmopolitan which can be exciting and sometimes scary. We must not listen to politicians who seem to want us to be afraid of something, in order to keep us quiet. It was communism for a long while, now it's Islamic terrorists, next it will be Martians. " Be still, little man, your big, brave government is there to protect you."
@wwwonderful Immigrants all concentrate in capital cities. I live in the center of one. The holidays I spend with my family who live 20 miles outside the city, you won't see no immigrants at all. Totally different world.
@wwwonderful Somehow they did met the population, because they are not planning to leave. So it's welcome to the new Holland. Afro shops and tulips. Except for the thousands of foreign change students that come here every year. They stay for halve a year and after that they go back.
@wwwonderful Dutch don't move to Belgium. A lot of Dutch do move to the USA for a while. After a while they think Holland is a little bit more social, while they thought US was better. And.. USA buys a lot of Dutch talent.
@wwwonderful We do have got the immigrant calculater. You type the postal code and you see how many immigrants that neighbourhood has. My neighbourhood has 10% of non-western immigrants (1 januari 2010). Polish, German and Serbian are considered to be western. You see a lot of white licence plates here with D (Germany) and PL (Poland). So it's possible for tourists to see the real Dutch. They just have to search neighbourhoods with 0% immigrants.
I think he gives way too much credit to advertising.
And living in New York, Wall St is our main street. The money gets spent on my neighborhood. And anyone can own stocks. So wall street is really all of our main street. However, people don't' want to watch their money, and would rather have other people do it.
Being in NYC "Big-Box" stores save us a ton of money. How much is a bottle of soda in a Bodega than a A&P? People in inner cities pay more for things because there are no chains.
@wwwonderful The church is non-profit. Our western culture and language (proverbs and sayings) is based on Judaism/Christianity/Modern Humanism (invented by a ex-catholic with a Christian vision) and old Greek philosophical norms and values. Maybe the church should tax atheists for living in a modern western society. Because the closest cultural thing atheists invented was something they've got in North Korea... Kim Jong who was il .. and very dead now.
@Brulluhman "non-profit", yeah, right! I have worked with priests and evangelical preachers. They pay themselves the minimum wage, but wear really good suits, have a big house and a really expensive car, expensive pens, food etc. The Vatican is oozing wealth, and they tell a Mexican mother of 10 kids living on a rubbish-dump that her reward will come later. It would be funny if it weren't so hypocritical
@wwwonderful I've got one in my family. She doesn't make that much money and has to be stand by 24 hours. She does drive an expensive car, they also life in a big house. But that's not because the Church pays that. It's because of her partner had a good job and retired. He pays tax and payed tax all his life. That big house is also their office. I'm protestant and Dutch (one of the wealthiest countries in the world). I don't know about the Catholic church.
@theresident He's speaking correctly in general (im muslim) and i just want to say that America's economy is built up cuz of jews ...JEWS are controlling you all the big companies are controlled by jews! they're controlling everything you're doing
as i'd also like to point somethin out wall street big boys aka bi companies (jews)...
please make a video telling us what do you think about freemasons zionists jews and illuminatis (especially in the media) PLLLEASE (andtellmewhaduthinkboutmycomment)
@SuperMcusername Illuminati is a myth, Zionists are not a secret society and they stat their goals very Cleary and freemasons? Heck if you hangout in Connecticut long enough even you may end up as a member to one of their loges and Jews? What about them! They are just people like every one ells …
@Gaus212 illuminati ...it's not a myth ... i never said that zionists are a secret society ....and freemasons ... they're evil...other wise why would it be so secretive? last but not least ...jews ...if you'd know the goals of the illuminatis and freemasons ....you would know that they don't really care about you they want the economy to fail cause people like you and me will be affected not them! we will die .... they will live ...(i'll send you a message check it out)
In generel i dislike priests (religion), and think they're bad for economy too. They don't work for free after all. The money people pay them could be used to help others.
That said: This one seems to have the right ideas, and thus -to me at least- he may be worth the money he's paid. People DO need to stop buying into the colourful ads and i agree that spending money in your local neighbourhood is a great idea. I do it myself whenever possible.
The malls are cathedrals. The corporations are churches. The CEOs like Steve Jobs are considered to be saints.

Don't let those corporations control you.....let my church control you!
What an asshat.....but you have to give him credit for tapping into yet another market and turning anti consumerism into a product.

There is no hope.
astroboomboy 1 month ago in playlist Uploaded videos
@astroboomboy what do banks spend money on? To finance debt or securities..not on commodities. I used tho think a decrease in consumer spending affects the GDP..whatever. Hope for what? A perfect world? Of course not.
ElenaEvgenjevna 3 weeks ago
@ElenaEvgenjevna Banks invest in everything, they lend money, invest in bonds, invest in businesses by lending, etc., the money you put in the bank will in most cases be invested in something that leads to growth in GDP. The only way to bring down GDP and spending is to stop working, or work as little as possible.
astroboomboy 3 weeks ago
@astroboomboy I know what banks invest in. Without growth in demand for goods and services there is no growth in GDP. Why the fuck to invest in businesses if people dont buy what they offer. Yes by incurring debts they can survive for a while but if they dont have sufficient reveues the cant pay back the loans, which is very bad for the banks. Without demand no supply, without supply no production and jobs, no economy, duh.
ElenaEvgenjevna 3 weeks ago
@astroboomboy Of course you can not not shop at all, but if all people would only buy food and the basic things they need to survive, a hell a lot of people would loose their jobs. Since resources are very limited i guess we should emphasise on services rather than on commodities now. But then again..'in the long run we're all dead' and this planet wont exist for ever so its all relative. Sorry if my english is not perfect.
ElenaEvgenjevna 3 weeks ago
@ElenaEvgenjevna What you don't realize is that the money would be invested in foreign firms if you stopped shopping in your country and put your money in the bank. Your idea would be on an international scale. Anyway, the idea is unfeasible, purchasing power is growing every day, and we will consume more every year. There is no way to stop it because people have been induced to think that life is work.
astroboomboy 3 weeks ago
@astroboomboy Internatianal business is one of my majors in university, so I realise, thank you. What my idea? When did I say that people should stop shopping, I said the opposite. I dont get your point anymore. Purchaising power is rising everyday? Tell that to Greek, Spanish, Romanian businessmen. Well theres no need to induce that because its a fact. Live is, in a large part, work. Has always been´, will always be, under any economical, social system.
ElenaEvgenjevna 2 weeks ago
@ElenaEvgenjevna Purchasing power is rising on a global scale, what is happening to the countries you mentioned are local. You said that if people stopped shopping GDP would go down, but that would have to be on a global scale. If the whole of US stopped shopping but continued to work and produce, and put their money in banks, the GDP would not go down. Life has for the most part been hunting and gathering, not waged labor.
astroboomboy 2 weeks ago
@astroboomboy Ah ok. I was never talking about the US only, I always referred to the global scale. But even if we're talking about the US only, its not a good idea to 'stop shopping'. You dont consider hunting and gathering work?? I think that sounds like fucking hard work and what is worse, people had no choice. And so is agriculture that has been around since the Neolithicum since 10000 years or so - VERY hard work, believe me. I know how hard.
ElenaEvgenjevna 2 weeks ago
@ElenaEvgenjevna I would never suggest either that one should stop shopping or to stop working. But, if people stopped shopping, it would not automatically reduce GDP. On a global scale that would happen. I have no idealistic thoughts about humans. We are complex animals that are driven by irrational desires. One day our race will die, and it will cease to make sense. Life to me is just a ride, an epiphenomenal experience. Hopefully something better will one day exist.

The whole buy local idea looks good on the surface, but if everyone only bought local, they'd only get what is produced locally, and producers would be limited to the local market to sell their goods. The stricter you get to that policy, the closer you get to a stone age economy.
But it's more self righteous to say things which sound good.
kueballl 2 months ago
@kueballl There is not a danger of that happening. If it gets somewhere near that, we'll be the first to know. We aren't even getting close to "buy local" turning us into the "stone age".
There is PLENTY more beneficial things that can be done in the arena of "buying local".
You are sounding like the manager of a national chain store.
woodsprout 2 months ago
@woodsprout Of course we're not close. But the more strict a 'buy local' policy you have, the closer you get to a stone age economy.

I grew up in a town, less than 20k and we had SIX grocery stores, four hardware stores & at least 5 FULL service stations. Now? 2 grocery stores (none mom & pop), two hardware stores (none mom & pop). and two mechanics. Screw the box stores. I want Mom & Pop back!!!
clayp72 2 months ago

Amazing how they came up with the rest.

woodsprout 2 months ago
@woodsprout Our culture and language is based on Judaism/Chritianity/Modern Humanism (invented by an ex-catholic with a Christian vision) and old Greek philosophical norms and values. Most bloody wars have been caused by Atheists, like Hitler, Mao, Stalin and people like Kim Jong Il. For the rest not every religion is a cult. If you don't like our western culture, most closest thing to Atheism is a culture like North Korea has. By the way our western human rights are a result of Christianity.
Brulluhman 2 months ago
@Brulluhman
If you do some research you would know much of their justification came straight from the bible.
penn919 2 months ago
@penn919 Christians ended slavery. The period of 200 years is still a short time when you compare it to other continents. Africa still has slavery, during the colonisation, African sold slaves to the colonisers. Asia still has slavery, China, India, North Korea. The Middle East (Asia) still practise slavery. Hitler is a case that he was raised as catholic, but was an ex-catholic in his days. Second when we talk about Mao and Stalin, we talk about above 200 million victems.
Brulluhman 2 months ago
@Brulluhman
OK first off, your first point is moot. What difference does it make that Africa or any other country had slavery? So then it was okay for the American Christians to do the same? Secondly, there is no concrete proof that Hitler was an Ex-Catholic, and for the record, he was NEVER ex-communicated. Thirdly, atrocities of Mao, Stalin, etc to the countless atrocities committed their religious counterparts because you have to adjust for their FAR superior technology.....
penn919 2 months ago
@Brulluhman
Oh please.
penn919 2 months ago
@penn919 No he identified the western culture as Christian and therefor called every western citizen a Christian. Breivik himself is an agnost, but mostly an atheist. Since you don't have his manifesto.. and I do. I'll place some of his writings here. I don't buy the Norwegian psychologists. Paranoid, yes, he is, otherwise the Norwegian police or secret services would have captured him long time before. No empathy. But scitzo?? I don't think so. Breivik didn't even believed in democracy.
Brulluhman 2 months ago
@penn919 What would Atheists have done when they would have it, btw.. those are inventions done in a western culture based on Christian norms and values. First gun was invented in Czech republic instead of Spain.. with their pistolera. Fire powder was invented in China, fireworks. To chase away ghosts. Got a vid for you search later.
Brulluhman 2 months ago
@Brulluhman
I say state worship is no better than worshiping gods.
penn919 2 months ago
@penn919 That's easy, so when Atheists do something, you say Atheists didn't got motivated by Atheism. That's like blaming the unemployment on the people who work, because that all started when someone finally did something, the rest became unemployed. Atheism is nothing, so they aint responsible. Why don't you move to an Islamic country, because that's what Europe would have looked like if it wasn't for crusades and inquisition. Or to North Korea, closest cultural thing to Atheism.
Brulluhman 2 months ago
@Brulluhman
Easy? Well yeah. It's pretty obvious too. There isn't anything in atheism that can motivate you to do anything. That's something only religion and ideology can do. That's why you can never blame it. If you do, you might as well say that murders commit crimes because they don't believe in fairies & elves. That wouldn't make any sense. There is no evidence that atheism causes violence or atrocities, but the same can''t be said for religion...and by the way, that analogy made no sense.
penn919 2 months ago
@penn919 A-theism is the lack of believe in God, theism is believing in a God or more gods. Now when Atheists blame religious people for their doing things wrong. First of all you should be able to find the motivation of those actions in their religion. Because religion is something else than religious. When you do measure by just looking at if people are religious or not, you should do the same with Atheists. Believe - action - result. Atheists believe in nothing, so it is nothing.
Brulluhman 2 months ago
@penn919 So Atheism is more like being unemployed and blaming people who work for their mistakes. Telling everyone how good you are because you don't make any mistakes. Believe - action - result. Like I told, Atheism is nothing.
Brulluhman 2 months ago
@Brulluhman
Seems like your kind is the one doing the blaming for your own failings
penn919 2 months ago
@penn919 What blame? The only thing I see, is that Atheists like to applaus themselves a lot while they have a lack of self reflection when it comes to Atheists. When you are in a hell hole called prison. Probably most people even atheists start to believe that there must be something better. And they are there to think about what they've done.
Brulluhman 2 months ago
@Brulluhman
If Christians were as "self-reflective" as you desire atheists to be, then there would be no need for such behavior. they should be...
penn919 2 months ago
@penn919 Nope. Christians are not hypocrites at the basic. Jesus died for our sins. Before you believe anything like that, you say that you are not without sins. Atheism is nothing.
Brulluhman 2 months ago
@Brulluhman
Correct what you can, and as for the rest....you just have to bear the consequences.
penn919 2 months ago
@penn919 Look, believe - action - result. All entrepreneurs do that. They believe in something.. completely nuts. Suddenly jobs exist. When we want a lovely world. People should believe in Love. Believing is not something you do on your own. Neutral respect is also one of the basics of Love. For Christians God is Love and when it comes to love people may/should have their boundaries. With Atheïsm that's not the case. I also believe those pedophiles in the Catholic church hate Christianity.
Brulluhman 2 months ago
@Brulluhman

penn919 2 months ago

penn919 2 months ago
@Brulluhman
In fact, I bet they got most of their cultish ideas from religious types such as yourself.. So as with Breivik, It seems these atheists were infected by the culture of religious obedience and dogmatism.
penn919 2 months ago
@penn919 Even Modern Humanism was invented by an ex-Catholic... I mean infected by Christianity. I think that's what Breivik meant with his comment on monocultural Christian Europe. Our culture is based on those norms and values and old Greek philosophical ones. When we would have lived in a Pegan culture, we probably would have sacrificed babies for lovely weather. But hey.. Atheism isn't responsible, atheism is nothing.
Brulluhman 2 months ago
@Brulluhman
The word may have been invented, but the practice wasn't.
penn919 2 months ago
@penn919 That's why i'm telling "modern" humanism. Humanism doesn't imply religion, but it does imply Christian norms and values. Atheism is nothing more than that you don't believe in a God or more gods. Theism are people that do believe in a god or more gods. There is no such thing as an Atheist Christian. Because Christians believe in a God. What Atheists can do is practise the Bible or practise Yoga, that doesn't make you a Christian nor a Buddhist.
Brulluhman 2 months ago
@Brulluhman
The actual person who coined the word is a trivial point.
penn919 2 months ago
@penn919 Breivik wrote: "Regarding my personal relationship with God, I guess I'm not an excessively religious man. I am first and foremost a man of logic. However, I am a supporter of a monocultural Christian Europe." Breivik writings are all about his country is being taken over by immigrants. What makes it scary. 'Der Spiegel' German newspaper wrote that during the attack there was a lot of chearing on Islamic forums. A Jihadist group called 'Ansar al-Jihad al-Alami' claimed the attack first.
Brulluhman 2 months ago
@penn919 I think it's too Christmas for letting you watch that vid.
Brulluhman 2 months ago
@penn919 I'm always surprised by Atheists that like to point religions on their mistakes, while they forget to measure their own mistakes with that. When you point someone on behaviour, you should at least show some selfreflection when it comes to your own group. Take Breivik for instance. Atheists are very quick to say he's a Christian and that Christians are just the same terrorists as Muslims. From there they applause themselves. Breivik was an Atheist (page 1344 and 1404 of his manuscript).
Brulluhman 2 months ago
@Brulluhman Hey I'm no "atheist", and certainly not as you describe it. When people take their holy books with such literal seriousness, they are behaving in a cult manner.
Also, the founding of the USA, with slavery PLUS native conquest is quite an ugly stain. Does "Human rights" mean human rights on hold permanently and/or for undetermined amount of time, until we convert/absorb you ?
Religion is cultural. Culture is geographical. The origins have been mixed up by migration.
woodsprout 2 months ago
@woodsprout First tell me what your are. I'm not a Catholic, but a (free) protestant. The founding of the USA with slavery PLUS native conquest?? Also the Indians had black slaves. When you ask an African where he want's to live most. In the USA or in Africa. What do you think he would say? I don't see African American run to Africa.. going wild about how good black people treat them or they want to build up the continent with the knowledge they have.
Brulluhman 2 months ago
@Brulluhman Simply, It's none of your god damn business what a person with African ancestry wants to do. ...and you could have kept it that way. ...if your religion was so stand alone awesome.
woodsprout 2 months ago
@woodsprout I think our human rights came closer to the Bible in time, than that it has been practised in the past. Now we deal with immigrants, that have other opinions about 'human' rights. When it comes to muslims, they have a pact of Umar that says, non-Islamic people don't have rights at all. Of course muslims have some "obligations" towards non-muslims, but with sura 2.106 (abragation sura), I don't think they do or isn't that peaceful.
Brulluhman 2 months ago
@wwwonderful Maybe the reason why France is exporting 'pork' from Holland, is because we're world leader when it comes to logistics (international trade). Holland also advises other countries, works together with other ports. So when there's a ship coming in Holland knows what capacity the country has to ship things over or .. knows what ship is avaible to do so. From A.. to Z. When you want to ship something. You end up in Shang Hai, have to find a transporter for destination x your screwed.

People hate you mr. the reverend.
2nguyen2 2 months ago
@2nguyen2 Nope, I think he has a good point. Although in practise it only can work that way in villages. Where you do your shopping at the locals.. the baker, the butcher, where the baker and butcher buy products directly from farmers. That's where everybody knows each other. In the city, it's about being the cheapest and maybe the church buys from their own members to do certain jobs.

Well soon there will be no more stores period anyhow. We will all shop on line and our purchases will be delivered or picked up at a universal central pick up point. Possibly a drive through.

i know consumerism is bad. but to be honest, what alternative is there? we dont stand a chance to stand up and make a diference unless politically someone drastically changes something. the way i see it, we're already too deep in this hole to do anything about it. with the USA as the leader of the free world, developing countries are only going to adopt more of this culture. just look at china now. im all for change, but what feasible alternative is there that wont sacrifice much of my comfort?

@Brulluhman Netherlands, densest population in Europe. In more ways than one.
wwwonderful 2 months ago

Brulluhman 2 months ago
@Brulluhman I love it when tourists just stay in the capital, and go home thinking they've met the population :-)
wwwonderful 2 months ago
@wwwonderful Somehow they did met the population, because they are not planning to leave. So it's welcome to the new Holland. Afro shops and tulips. Except for the thousands of foreign change students that come here every year. They stay for halve a year and after that they go back.

@Brulluhman How many Dutch have fled to Malaga, Belgium, the USA?
wwwonderful 2 months ago

@wwwonderful When I do my shopping there, I've hear all German instead of Dutch.

The church is the world's biggest thief. They don't even pay taxes.
wwwonderful 2 months ago 2
@wwwonderful The church is non-profit. Our western culture and language (proverbs and sayings) is based on Judaism/Christianity/Modern Humanism (invented by a ex-catholic with a Christian vision) and old Greek philosophical norms and values. Maybe the church should tax atheists for living in a modern western society. Because the closest cultural thing atheists invented was something they've got in North Korea... Kim Jong who was il .. and very dead now.
Brulluhman 2 months ago
@Brulluhman "non-profit", yeah, right! I have worked with priests and evangelical preachers. They pay themselves the minimum wage, but wear really good suits, have a big house and a really expensive car, expensive pens, food etc. The Vatican is oozing wealth, and they tell a Mexican mother of 10 kids living on a rubbish-dump that her reward will come later. It would be funny if it weren't so hypocritical
wwwonderful 2 months ago
@wwwonderful I've got one in my family. She doesn't make that much money and has to be stand by 24 hours. She does drive an expensive car, they also life in a big house. But that's not because the Church pays that. It's because of her partner had a good job and retired. He pays tax and payed tax all his life. That big house is also their office. I'm protestant and Dutch (one of the wealthiest countries in the world). I don't know about the Catholic church.
