You see you see many Hindus especially (Urban variety) have no idea. Two Devas are Muneeshwaran/Virupaksha/Veerab­hadra..... they are found throughout India/Nepal.....I am not being casteist..... but many castes across India have as their "clan deity" .....

As you have Tamil name I have a question:

Is "Ayyanar" same as Muneeswaran ?

Thanks for sharing the history of Muneeswara. Ya I don't see any history about Muneeswara in Youtube except for songs and Urumi Melam. I came to know about him when a friend brought me to his temple, but sadly the temple has been demolished by the government. Later, I came to know about Lord Ayyappa. At first I thought it was Ayyah which is Muneeswara. Then I when I heard of Ayyappa's history, I became interested to know more and eventually I followed a group to Sabarimala in 2009.
