@markmarktarmann no problem . red house is one of my favorite song and you did a good job playing it. i'm just starting to learn to play the piano for the first time now in college. did you play red house from ear or did you get the sheet music!
and i never heard of these artist before so i checked them out and there pretty good , thanks . do you know of any artist that plays jimi's style of guitar or close ?
@thewestcoastishere by ear. though i have a bit of an advantage. i first heard it (ouch)
almost 40 years ago. hopefully it won't take that long for you to learn it. i play some guitar too, so it helps me understand what hendrix what playing. when i tried to figure it out on guitar back then i had no clue, and couldn't any of it. best way is to get a teacher, and check these great tutorials, which didn't exist then.
@thewestcoastishere randy hanson was (is?) a perfect clone of hendrix. stevie ray vaughn is the best example of a guitarist who mastered hendrix' style and then developed his own. great singer and songwriter too. arguably the best ever at all 3. there's a island/phillipino looking kid on youtube that can play anything by anybody. jeff beck(amazing guitarist), hendrix etc. can't remember his name. i studied jazz piano in my 20's and that helped me develop my "ear". good luck with your music.
@thewestcoastishere i've been thinking about your question (guitarists who play like hendrix).you're probably familiar with the original red hot chili peppers guitarists.(NOT the current guy w/way too much costume tattoo makeup) he does a lot of straight.up hendrix riffs. if you really want the secret of hendrix, you have to go way back before jimi&listen to muddy waters, t bone walker, albert king, Isley brothers, down home swamp, memphis, texas chicago blues. where it all comes from.
@markmarktarmann yo, thanks a lot i needed that because i produce and sample a lot and i need more guitarists like that for sampling purposes and i'm working on a black history month project and needed more black guitarists like that. so thanks again and if you ever find more guitarists like that or maybe an artist you find interesting or different feel free to let me know at any time. Thanks
@thewestcoastishere yo, wesss coast BTW,.i'm from the 6-5-Oh, West Menlo.(Park) Northern Cali. (the burbs, dude) "ya betta not GO in the six.five OH". that's mine so don't EVEN try to steal it. heh heh. some more names. albert collins, john lee hooker. bb king. buddy guy and meditate on this...james brown, who EVERYbody sampled played drums in a rythmn and BLUES band back when he was coming up in the 50's. where it all comes from. the blues. amen.
@PaperTreeMusic thanks very much. i tried to learn this song when i was 15, couldn't figure it out.(on guitar) guitarists were stingy, my accordion teacher scammed my folks for years of guitar lessons. worthless.got some great education at Calif. jr. colleges. (at 25)
played with chris cain in the 90's, but haven't done much with bands here. i should try, and record this & my Muddy Waters stuff instead of this lo-fi posting.
