How many hours per day did she practice? Just curious. My daughter is dreaming of being in an orchestra and is starting violin. She doesn't realize that it means lots and lots and LOTS! of practice, not what she is putting in on her piano (1-1,5 hour per day), but probably at least double or more and amazing talent to progress this much in one year. Please, tell me.... she needs to know it's not a piece of cake!
@edytais I know this is like a 3 mnth. late replied and idk if ur already start your daughter on the orchestra. But I been playing since I was 6 and practice ATLEAST 3-4 hrs a day. It not just simply as playing, you must truly love your violin in order to play as well as Valerie did. I'm 13 now and practice 3hrs/day on weekday and 5 on sun and sat. I hope ur daughter can do well. I play violin, and piano, and I love them all dearly,i even dream im playing it ;)
@edytais It depends on the child. I know a mum whose daughter attended Juilliard Pre-College. She told me some kids practice 3-4hrs a day and it's enough but there's those who do alot more so it really depends on your daughter.
I'm 16 and I'm playing this for my recital tonight...this makes me feel really lame. Haha good job little girl but stop being so good! You make the rest of us feel bad! Haha :)
Nicely done! :) The notes were a bit scratchy and off, but just a little. Otherwise she did wonderfully. :)
Oh, and for the record, it's normal to play with your eyes closed and still be conscious, people. It's called feeling the music. I do the same thing when I play.
yes true... but it's sometimes hard for non-musicians to understand, because they don't really know what it feels like when you yourself is holding the instrument and making music...
@totothepuppydog yeah its really scratchy.. i can notice that because im also a musician.. a flutist actually but she really the best.. imagine she can play that at her young age!. and instead of putting the eyes close, i do the movement of swaying as feeling the rhythm.. :-)

this is getting a lot more credit than it should. There are a lot of out of tune notes, and it is unbareably sharp in the fast section. This piece is also about grade 5 standard which isnt anything for a girl of this age.
Violin/any other instrument is NEVER easy to master at first. You should never really give up on an instrument. I admit I sound pretty bad at Violin, buttt I'll still try to master it somehow. :)
still very frightening, I don't know if it's manerism or real expression... tho this czardas is quite beautifull, this little girl just keep on confusing me.
its spelled Csardas by monti it even says on my music. In the begining she should work on more sliding 4 gypsy like and practice a little more on the fast part to do spicatto more otherwise pretty good
work on counting.....1 and 2 and.....also the fingering isn't very even....she is rushing and her tempo is moving at different places but overall not bad but still needs more work
Amazing, if I had seen her talent when I was I kid, I would have quit a long time ago. Violin was never my instrument and you can clearly tell she is passionate about it, unlike myself, whom cannot transfer my love to an instrument of my mother's choice. My piano skills may also be bloody horrible, but when I am happy the music is nice, however if I am sad, all the notes just came out wrong....
To Flickin' Pickin': Please shut up if you are not a musician or if you don't play the violin. As a violinist myself, I think she played just fine. It did sound a bit scratchy, probably because she needs to put more rosin on the horsehairs of her bow.
This sounds like a Russian rhapsody or something like that. Does anyone know who the composer of this piece is?
Okay, this is pretty nice, but she is so small. What kind of parents does she have? Please, give her a little break - i guess she plays all day. And great for a little kid, really beautiful performance.
amazing but is the technique she used for tempo changes a "valid" technique? My teacher taught me the whole breathing-and-conspicuously-nodding-your-head to indicate tempo changes
Listen here, she's fantastic for her age. Valerie here has already mastered many difficult techniques and I bet she would beat any adult that plays violin.
Has nothing to do with view at all, she's 8 here and quite frankly expecting adult perfection from an 8 year old is just borderline stupidity.
If you go and look at her 3rd movement summer performance... 2 years later and shes performing better than most adults playing violin could ever hope to touch. Take age into consideration, it's important. As you age you gain motor skills etc etc.
very goood for 8 yr old.. its a difficult piece.. one of the grade 8 pieces this year but i think she should prehaps have waited maybe a year later before playing pieces at this standard to work on tuning, tone, posture more ect and then it would have been AMAZING!!! but still very very goood for her age..
watch any serious violinist: joshua bell, itzak perlman...NONE of them stand still. She is stunning, and is still discovering herself as an artist. this is raw and natural talent. It does sound a bit "tinny", which could also be the value of the recording, or the quality of strings she plays on. Regardless, this piece is demanding for any violinist, and for an 8 year old to show that kind of mastery is inspiring and touching.
Your right shoulder shouldn't be rising that much as you go to the G string. Also, some of your shifts in the beginning were off. Your tone in the second part of the piece was not too good. The 3rd part sounded very...gritty and harsh. Some of the double stops were off and the artificial harmonics were bad.
You wouldn't expect her to do all that! She is already playing at an upmost position that none - not even a random person of her age can play.
Her shifting was very good, tuning; I did not notice a single out-of-tune note.
One thing that all violinists should do regardless of their age and size; ALWAYS STAND STILL! Don't move your shoulders about or your body especially your posture over your waist. If you do then you will defo go out of tune.
I agree that she sometimes makes extra movements, but that doesn't mean it doesn't help contribute to her performance. Like sometimes her movements help with the bow off of the string
she is to little she cant reach the notes in high positions on the g string, but for her age to play this piece is truly amazing, but mommy and daddy want too much from there little wonder kid.lol

& for an EIGHT year old, to PlAY it!? shes great, and you know it! shes playing with FEELINg,shes not "immature" sometimes i dont get these comments.
This is so absurd. If the video TITLE would be "blindfolded 8 yo plays violin solo" you would be like omgosh I gotta see that! And now she's keeping her eyes shut, which thus is only even more expressive and "good".
for cying out loud to all you idiots and your stupid critisism....she's 8 and playing czardas...one of the most difficult pieces to play....she's talented plain and simple...a prodigy....keep up the good work little angel :)
Well... that wouldn't be a wise thing to say for someone in your position (Let's just say that I took a peek at your page and witnessed your "skills")... Hmmmm, On the other hand, I might be able to reconsider after experiencing your rendition of the Monti Czardas...
Okay, she probably plays better than you so you shouldn't be harsh. And no one should ever try to call an 8-year-old a retard. She does lack the maturity needed to play this piece but it sounds excellent. I'd like to hear you play this piece on youtube. try to play it just as well, but i doubt that will ever happen.
She is amazingly mature for her age. She is gonna do great things in the future. Some notes out of tune though. I dont really think you guys should be judging so much because I bet at her age, you couldnt play a C Major Scale in tune or do a vibrato like hers. I think she is amazing. None of us are perfect! Disney books?! SYKE!
Why is everyone so critical of this performence. She's eight! i couldn't play anything near the standard of this when i was eight. obviously technique will improve over time.
The piece is indeed a bit difficult for her from a technical point of view. But this absolutely doesn't mean that she has no technique. Besides she is amazing mature for her age. The character of the music is really there. She plays it like it has to be played: a real czardas.
she plays with such passion for being so small, and she plays it very well for her age.
although i feel this piece is a bit too mature for her, because i feel you need a little bit more experience in order to get the correct "feel" of the piece.
although i enjoyed the performance. she played extremely well.
Lol, everyone thinks asians are always so talented. I think we see alot of talented asian musicians simply because in their culture, there is more pressure on them to succeed. More asian parents would sign up their kids for music lessons than people from other cultures.
For example, how many arabs do you see involved in classical music? Not many. Their parents would rather they become doctors or engineers, lol.
Everyone who's trying to correct her. Seriously get a life and wake up. She's 8. She's kicking your ass no matter what you're doing with your life.

megapraimturvo 3 years ago 9
Czardas certainly isn't "one of the most difficult pieces to play".
MySelene 3 years ago
of course not,if you already know how to play it....HELLO??????????
megapraimturvo 3 years ago 2
Well... that wouldn't be a wise thing to say for someone in your position (Let's just say that I took a peek at your page and witnessed your "skills")... Hmmmm, On the other hand, I might be able to reconsider after experiencing your rendition of the Monti Czardas...

I think she's very good for a year 8 violinist.
However, she could still improve some parts of the song. But this performance is quite impressive, really.

SYKE!
loraloveely 3 years ago 4
She is really good but has tones of out of tune notes. I think it would be better if she chose an easier song.

Why is everyone so critical of this performence. She's eight! i couldn't play anything near the standard of this when i was eight. obviously technique will improve over time.
CrazyCellist92 3 years ago 8
As long as directed in a constructive way, criticism is as necessary as food. Must be taken and digested. Valerie appreciates that aspect of learning.
Please see her later performance of same piece (somewhere in my channel) for evidence of this process.
I try to scan the comments and remove those with racial/ethnic/religious/sexual or other inappropriate tones.

The piece is indeed a bit difficult for her from a technical point of view. But this absolutely doesn't mean that she has no technique. Besides she is amazing mature for her age. The character of the music is really there. She plays it like it has to be played: a real czardas.

MINKIM122 3 years ago 4
wow she's absolutely amazing for such a small person.....
sharpiehustlerxoxo 3 years ago 4
she plays with such passion for being so small, and she plays it very well for her age.
although i feel this piece is a bit too mature for her, because i feel you need a little bit more experience in order to get the correct "feel" of the piece.
although i enjoyed the performance. she played extremely well.

darn those crazy asians with their crazy talent! Xo
chibiviolinist21 3 years ago 4
Lol, everyone thinks asians are always so talented. I think we see alot of talented asian musicians simply because in their culture, there is more pressure on them to succeed. More asian parents would sign up their kids for music lessons than people from other cultures.
For example, how many arabs do you see involved in classical music? Not many. Their parents would rather they become doctors or engineers, lol.
