That's true sprotsmanship. Jeremy Roenick from San Jose did the same thing one game against the Minnesota Wild (I could be wrong). A player fell feet first into the boards and broke his leg. Roenick was by his side until he left the ice on a stretcher.

People say that hockey players dont have to worry about players on another team, but if you think about it, they could easily be playing together the next season. The one thing I like with accidents like this is when the oposite team help the injured player,even if he is from the other team.

The commentator is an idiot. The crowd was cheering for Knuble as he was taken off the ice. Not that they weren't worried about shanny but hockey fans are the best and care if the other team gets hurt (unless it's Sean Avery)

Joe Micheletti isnt an idiot. him and Sam Rosen are great commentators. he got a bit confused b/c the fans reacted at same time when knuble got up and when Shanny moved is legs. But yeah, most fans in any sports do cheer whenever a player gets up from an injury regardless of what team. :P

I was at that game too. it was an unbelievable sight. I had never been at a game where someone had to be carted off like that. Everyone was focused on Shanny. It seemed like he was down forever. From where i was, all I could see were Shanny's legs, and it was pretty tense up until his legs started moving. Looking back on it, both players were lucky to have returned by the end of that season.

and besides this whole bit, that was probably the best hockey game i had ever been too.
