I'm with Wells Fargo right now and just got hit with $175 in overdraft fess. I received a check and put the $ in a couple of days after to cover everything. Called them up and they said, "sorry, we can't reverse any of these fees". I escalated the call and they still would not do anything for me.
I absolutely love documentaries like this, even it is cut down to under 5 minutes. It makes a quick point that people who aren't political can understand. This is so much more effective than stupid Occupy Wall Street demonstrations everywhere.

Bank of America doesn't care about customers ALL they worry about is making money and screw all the customers, Do What We Ask You To Do & We Will Deny You No Matter What ALL We Want Is Your Money & Make Your Life Living Hell, They Are Pretty Much A Profit Making Corporation saying they are a bank, YOU KNOW ITS AMAZING WHAT THEY CAN DO IF THEY REALLY WANT TO ! ! SOUNDS LIKE THEY JUST WANT TO SEE IF YOU WILL FIGHT AND ARGUE ABOUT SITUATION ! ! ! I HAVE HEARD THEIR NEW NAME IS BEND OVER AMERICA
just go to you branch and be super annoying. come there everyday, call the supervisor, call everybody to talk to you. eventually they will give up and refund everything.
after a $700 row of overdraft FEES, not to count the charges themselves, I think I'm definitely gonna do this... 20 overdraft fees for things that I bought that were at the most $10... freaking ridiculous... but I'm removing this so called overdraft "courtesy" from my account... courtesy my a$s...
@anafau84 yea I agree. How did it became that BoA gets to act like the law and charge you almost like it's a speeding ticket? If someone fucks with you or I we have to fight to get it righted, like sue in small claims court like the guy does above. Bank policy reverse this process, charging you and making YOU have to fight to get the money back.
now i m aiming this method to sue GOLDGYM.. they charge me for gym canceling fee.. wtf.. no fair.. they didn't say anything about the word when i sign up for it.. they are just like BOA
I had a problem with a bank and reversing charges. I told them...no problem. I was coming down and wanted all my money in cash and that I was bringing several friends of mine who also had accounts to cash out as well.. and not accept a check but cash... They reversed all the charges. Why? Banks don't have cash... or very little of it. They need your cash as reserves for loans at a ration of 1:9... Do the math. They need you... you don't need them.
@BourneAccident Umm yeah, thats how banks have worked since the Knights Templars first developed the banking system in the 12th century. James Stewart explained it in A Wonderful Life. Everybody knows that.
I love these pompous pieces of shit who say: "It's your own fault for not reading the fine print dumbass!" To all of you condescending geniuses out there: You're right, I didn't read the fine print. I just assumed, like a logical fucking human being, that if I didn't have sufficient funds in my account to pay for something with my debit card the register would reject the transaction. Why didn't paper checks just overdraft your account back in the day? Why did they bounce instead?
Wow!! I thought I was the only person feeling small and insignificant from shitty bank practices of overdraft fees. Just accrued close to $200 today and looking to get more. Small claims court sounds like a good idea. Thanks for the awesome video. Appreciate it. Very cool!!
I watched your video and I really understand your frustration. If you want to make Bank of America pay for what they did to you, and thousands of others, you should watch this guy's video;
DEADLY BLOW ! TO Bank of America
You should contact this guy, he is really serious.
I plan to take Skank of America to small claims this week...they fucked me for 800. in overdraft fees...Leave B of A ASAP and join a local Credit Union, what a difference!!!
I mean I moved $ from one BofA to another Bo A acct so why is it pending. If you had an emergency and needed $100 and went to the ATM, the ATM will ask you if you agree with the OD fee. You hit OK, get ur money w/ the knowledge that you are accept this with one fee. But, instead the bank places that $100 withdrawal at the bottom and you not only get the fee to take the 100 out but then you get hit with 5 more fees for all the other things that were from before. That's illegal
this is 2 of 3 Then two days later I transfer $100 in my kids account and for whatever reason check my B of A account and saw that his transfer dropped to the bottom while at least 5 debit purchases that were already done move up to the top and show as pending . Now imagine if you were on a budget and only had $40 or so left in your account to your name. Let's say you had an emergency and needed $100. Those other charges and transfers should have been done.
so I just accidentally ran across this video and will absolutely try this method. I don't on purpose go out to run up OD fees only to try to get them back but, just last week I made several debit charges that you would think would automatically come out of your account because it is a debit transaction (if you don't have the money the transfer can't happen).
They're doing it in purpose to corrupt the whole....wherever you put your money it's no safe,,they'll take it or they'll take you...Their purpose is to collapse the whole worlds financial....so never dream to get rich and stock your treasure in these scam bugs...don't work hard...just enough for food, shelter, clothing...no more working hard...take time for God, and will have peace. These gold diggers are going to melt their gold w/them in a hellfire.
Ummm take them to small claims court for what? because you think the fees are too high? Thats like buying a burger at macdonalds and then suing them for charging you more thna you think the burger was worth. Who says the fees have to be an amount that you like?... esp when you are forcing overdrafts just to generate fees
Im trying this on Key Bank. I racked up over 300 in overdraft fees off of one miscalculation. Its well worth 40 dollars to try and take back a little of what I work for.
Ok i dont like the OD fees either, but I have a friend who use to work at a bank.... and they said that bank represenatives are allowed to reverse a limited amount of OD fees. There are people out there who get OD fees because items mispost, or a check written to them bounces, or transactions are processed largest to smallest. You on the other hand walk into a mall TRYING to create OD fees, and then call the bank to reverse those fees.
- Those reversals could have been saved for someone who really deserved to have them reversed. If your just playing games to create OD fees.... why should the bank help you?
@Dobber9million Yes they have limits!!! branch managers get fired for it. (or they would simply opt NOT to reverse your fees)The banks are messed up from way uptop. The people who would get hurt for you to do your little expierament are employees who have no say in what fees are assessed. maybe the reason that innocent people cant get their fees reversed is cuz banks waste so much of their budget reversing fees that could have been avoided
I have a solution. Be responsible with your money. Most banks offer free check registers. I've had 2 OD's in the past couple months, and i overdrafted a couple times lol. Your video example is totally irrelevant. You knew damn well you were going to overdraft, so why should the bank give you back those fees? It's those who accidentally do it, and have a clear account history that should get refunded, not you. Luckily, legislation is now letting irresponsible, or those who dont want it, opt out
@oldskool2121 Are you in any way shape or form suggesting that banks are responsible for their actions? I didn't think so. You know I bet a few people have been told they were 'irresponsible' in their spending by the banks, but it's that irresposibility they prey on. I don't knowk, maybe deep down inside you feel this is somehow right or maybe you just don't know...
@oldskool2121 I believe the video was to prove a point clearly he intentionally received the overdraft fees the point of the video was how to get rid of them. I received tons of unnecessary over draft fees from bank of America because their manipulation of transaction dates and amounts. How can a debit transaction take 5 days to clear some times and the same day other times depending on what day will make the bank money.
Go to FaceBankBook, com Together we can end these practices it is a social network for people like us and make sure to tell as many people as you can so we can stop this
i got gas with my card but 5 days later it still didnt go through and i forgot ,then on 2 separate occasions i bought microsoft points for about 7 bucks each time, the first one i was 1 buk short then the next was for the full amount of 7 bux so i got 2 overdraft fees for 40 each but didnt know until after they slapped me for 3 days and i think 5 days later for not payin it yet,so as of now i owe them like 160 just for that 8 dollar overdraft
GO GET YOUR MONEY BACK!!! here is a link to every state's small claims court - you have to retype this into a browser with LAW . FREEADVICE . COM / RESOURCES / SMALLCLAIMSCOURTS . HTM
Yup... I agree with you! Although, think about it, if you're suggesting, as banking customers, that we should be financially responsible and honest with ourselves and to our bank ... shouldn't our banks be honest and responsible towards us? It used to be called "good banking business". Something that unregulated banks today would like you to forget ... while accepting today's profitable, banking scheme as the norm!
People need to realise when they open an account it is within their duty of care to read the terms and conditions that are provided to them. The banks provide the documentation at account opening. If a fee is charged it is at the fault of the customer and they need to take accountability for this. Penalties are their to cover costs and can set a level of behaviour to ensure your account balace is sufficiant in order to avoid fees. Stop blaming the banks, and take accountability for your actions.
I have a better idea that will get irresponsible customers to balance their check books, overdraw from their accounts, while saving banks all the hassles ... banks need to STOP customer transactions when their account funds are insufficient to cover! Your reasons why banks charge to teach a lesson is equivalent in having an AA meeting at a bar! No lesson is learned! Banks INDIRECTLY promote this problem and profit! What I suggested, banks used to do and closed accounts!
It was reported in 2009 that the banking industry had earned over 17 billion dollars alone from overdraft fees! Yet, the problem of overdrafts continues to rise! This is telling us that many are willing to pay the overdraft fees while continuing their bad habits! It's become a financial addiction to some customers! An a addiction the banks can look down upon but, at the same time, allowing the problem to persist knowing they can profit over customer's bad habits!
Why do people think they can overdraw their accts and get away with it? Banks cover them for you as a favor saving you the embarrasment and additional fees from the merchant! The bank fees are punitive in nature to serve as a deterent to spending money you don't have! If you don't like the fees, DON'T OVERDRAW YOUR ACCOUNT! It's that simple!!!
Have you ever had a check deposited 7 business days ago and then when you want to use your card seven days later it goes over draft since the stupid it took them 7 business days to clear the freaking check?????????
That's a real nice way to speak to a lady. You are showing what a foul mouthed low life you really are. But then again, I see you're some towel head Afgan that shouldn't be in this country anyway! It's because of low-lifes like you that we have to have bank fees in the first place. You've been blocked, you human filth!
@ACM3140 uuuhh...hello...the whole point of america is to have things you can't afford and the right to bitch and whine when those things you couldn't afford are taken away...it is wholly unamerican to expect to pay for things in full before having them in possession...
I have accumulated about 300$ in overdraft charges.. thinking about going to small claims court but a bit lost - nervous as to what will happen there.
I had to take out extra money for a cab & when I went to put the extra back in because I knew I had a pending check, it was too late smh....the $40 check turned into a $75 one.....
, i used to have td,, they are the worst . however because they have so many underqualifies employees with undeserved authority , i just told them im not gana pay it , and they respond with.. |"we will wave this overdraft for for you this time." but they told me that four times in a course of the three years i had the account.. coast capital baby!!!
Overdraft fees MIGHT become history soon. But there are a lot of other banking practices that are harming hardworking consumers like you and me. I just recently got royally screwed by Bank of America, after being their customer since 1997. This is it. It's time for us to fight back! Please join us and spread the word for a class action suit against BofA!
Woodforest Bank is doing it too. I bought two mcdoubles, one 2 liter pepsi, and a twenty dollar withdrawal and Im being charged 133 dollars for it. I wasl ooking forward to payday but now it's ridiculous that because some asshole in a leather suit wants to make money I lose half my paycheck.
i have a^^ terrible time with chase bank there. thye chrged me a check for 71.00 for hsbc an i racked up fines for 3times the amt then the hsbc people from great best buy guru would chalk up to me gusess this >> 168.00 bucks..for one check that i told them to stop payment and they went and charge me anyways and i hope i DONT get another surpirise this morning from hsbc i couldnt even talk to the "hsbc" rep because he was from another country from the u.s.a
CitiBank isn't the only one. Here comes Charter One Bank. Charter One Bank is a new scam bank in the making. I am a student at CSU in Cleveland Oh and I need my check/accnt so that I may deposit my Grants, Student Loans etc. Charter One collections dept intentionally didn't send me a notice about a $35.00 fee for a balance inquiry. They allowed the fee to double to $70.00 which caused my account to overdraft. What a scam! STAY FAR AWAY FROM CHARTER ONE BANK!
Good just remember. CitiBank isn't the only one. STAY FAR AWAY FROM CHARTER ONE BANK!!! The New Scam. They purposely allowed my account to go into the negative just so they could charge me. I have prepared a 15 page complaint to the Federal Trade Commission and the BBB will get a copy also.
We need to put the word out about both CitiBank and now the new insect CHARTER ONE BANK.
While my car is getting repaired I rent a car. The Rental Car company Hertz, puts a hold on my money of $300 which they call a deposit. The repair takes longer that anticipated and so Hurtz goes in and takes more money which caues several over drafts. I walk away from my bank because they will not help me against the Car rental co. I open an account with a credit union. I go to look at my account on line and they are still paying my car payment and insurance and charging me ofer draft fees
fucking bank of america screwed me on 300 bucks on overdraft fees because they processed a 5 dollar meal at dunkin donuts 3 months later?!! FUCKING TWICE!!! i was a college student at the time with only two days of work per week.. if that. i had to get D.S.S. to grant me some money just to pay them. TWICE.
its like they would let their own bank do that to them if they processed a transaction late.
oh wait, they dont need to worry because they make so much fucking money on shit like this.
I agree 100%. Definitely follow H.R. Bill 1456 regarding overdrafts. However, something that is overlooked is that everything that banks do is "legit" on paper. I was looking at my past statements with overdraft charges and it all looks legit. That makes it very difficult to show any wrongdoing. Wow. Try to explain that to the courts. I'm sure the big banks had these risks pre-calculated and they will let the occasional small-timer get his money back. Screw banks, Use cash! Or Walmart Money Card
what i think is everyone who have been charged should go to the small claims court. cuz you will get EXPERIENCES of how to file at the court and how to process. Gaining experience somethings is reli important in life. right? Only 40 bucks for filing fee and you will know how to file at the court and gain more experiences in your life.. i had done it before. Don't be afraid.. we have to fight for the ripped off banks like BOA..
However, the problem this guy now has is that they have your details... and although it is illegal, the bank will put you on a "blacklist" which will jeapordize you ever getting any credit from a bank ever again. This is how they get you back and stab you from a different angle.
This is a great example, the whole target market is that they are giving you a fee, because your lazy, or you use a Debit Card, when you never have to deal with that with cash. Remember that next time you see a Visa or Master card commercial.. The whole big game plan is to create traps for fees, and soon they will begin charging you to use your Debit Card if they don't do it already to you. Get away from Big Banks, go to credit unions. Great video! ;)
When you sign up for an account, they explain how much the fees are. Also, the laws are changing later this year. Please people, don't open an account if you are too irresponsible to balance a checkbook, and write your friend a check and let the bank return it. You all are morons. I have had an account for 7 years, I am 25 and have NEVER had an overdraft fee. And I have car payment, mortgage, etc. What happened to saving?
Jabb, Jabb yourself in the eye. you are a tard hole. Wake up, they try to get you to overdraft, they have methods in place which are predatory towards those on tight budgets, (the poor). They make about 40 billion a year on overdraft fees. So you are fucking special..... Congrats you above average Level 4 reasoner.
@jabb11930 ok @jabb... so Ur saying everyone in this video, from the Director of Consumers Union to Ralph Nader are morons? I have to ask, do U find it difficult to breathe so high up their on Ur self righteous high horse???
well, u may be good at tracking out the # from your account.. sometimes ppl makes mistakes. u might have somethings not good at, then u will make mistakes in your life, don't u?.. ppl are not morons. who says "ppl are morons" is a moron. cuz they don't understand about ppl and they only good at tracking their own account..
@jabb11930 Not that simple, they deliberately delay small posts to your account, they post large items almost instantly in hopes they can put you in overdraft and then rob you $35 a piece for every smaller post that comes in while you're overdrawn.
This is cynical and in my opinion criminal. I can accept a fee for an oversight and being overdrawn, but I've been charged as much as $300 for as little as $20 overdrawn. That is just no fair regardless of what you signed up for.
Thank you so much for this video. I too am a victim of the banks accounting. This really needs to be a class action suit. But I will be taking them to small claims court.
There are two types of banking customers on this planet, those who have overdrafted and those who are going to overdraft. The banks are working daily trying to figure out the right way to ensure each of us use their overdraft service - they'll never settle for just the lazy or irresponsible - too small of a market.
your a skim off the top debater who dances around the real issue . I dont think anyone here is truly opposed to paying a fee for intentionally fucking up their balance, however, I am saying that people are opposed to the cowardly automated scam of moving the ammounts and deposit/withdrawl times in order to capitalize on those with limited incomes - which you apparently lobby for . I strongly urge you to grow a set and debate the real issue - not twist my words
Check out " THE CALLING 1-8" this will help those who wish to study/understand the banking system and its history. I say this for those who actually seek the truth and not just regurgitate what theyve been told in order to feel like they belong to something larger and more powerful. AGAIN - ( the calling 1/8 thru 8/8 )
So, you ARE for predatory practices that hide behind large automated systems set up to withhold deposits and process all large withdrawls first - in order to capitalize on all the small ones ? Wouldnt that be like throwing stones in front of your childs bicycle and penalizing them for falling saying they get what they deserve - but for a hefty fee I will "protect you " ? did you even watch the video before you responded? because Ive really got to wonder " where the hell you are coming from"!
I am in favor of ANY charge levied against people who can't read and think they're entitled to money that isn't theirs.
Your comparison of yourself to a child is apt, though you're really throwing stones in front of your own bicycle. The adults among us know how to watch our money and need not pay anything for any protection. We know we're responsible for our money. The children will whine when penalized for spending money they never had and point fingers at everyone but themselves.
@4n4Lv4p0r, Are you serious, or do you work for Wachovia? Why would they "let" you overdraft in the first place. Why don't the card say "insufficient funds" and stop any transaction? It's a trap intended for poor people and its sad that you fail to see it.
stop being a leech? you mean the passive aggressive approach to the same thing that the banks are doing by setting unrealistic traps for the average joe? I'M willing to bet you live an easy life do to rip off techniques and hate it when this is exposed ! before typing back, consider your situation and why you think you are an authority on the issue? perhaps you live with mommy or perhaps you have been set up for the cushy life by daddy , maybe you prey on the financially unstable- just think.
The average joe is smart enough to NOT spend money they DONT have. If you're not, then you're a BELOW average joe. I never claimed to be an authority on anything. I do know that people who can't or don't keep track of their money are stupid and lazy. I have no sympathy for them. You can't keep track of your own money and you come at me with that tired old "I'll bet you live with mommy and daddy" garbage? Maybe you should move back in with yours... Perhaps they could pay your fees for you.
You know you could just not be such a god damn leech and balance your checkbook. Stupidity should be taxed, and that's EXACTLY what over draft fees are.
How dumb do you have to be to spend money you don't have and then whine when the people that had to cover for you expect to be paid for it.
You people are pathetic losers and drains on the rest of us.
but they're not a "tax". if they went to public schools and to build roads then fine... but they go to the fat cats at the top who could give a shit about their customers. if you think this is okay, then you are the golden shining example of why capitalism is officially dead in america.
Fine, then call it a charge... Like I did. Why would any bank give a shit about "customers" who spend the banks money rather than they're own? If you're too broke or too stupid to have a bank account, don't open one.
You're saying the I am the reason capitalism is dead, when you're protesting a bank charging someone to use it's money? That's rich.
I called my bank and told them that I wanted the overdraft fees removed. She told me know and I asked to speak to her boss. After I told them that I was potentially close my account because I have been a good customer, getting them clients because I used to love the bank, he changed his tone and gave me my money back. Just threaten to leave and be serious about it all the time. It's a recession, they need the service and good rep.
mother fucking wells fargo!... they so manipulated my numbers in my accounts causing me to have and overdraft fee!!.... something that had already been paid for with debit 1 week ago they decided to move the transaction to today's date!
Skank of America has been doing this snit for a long time, u check online and everything is clear, go spend some money and the next day u have overdrafts that was caused by one charge and they moved paid items back into pending so they can get a gang of fees. They ARE the mob, true gangsters!!!
the other weekend I had an overdraft fee of $39 for being off by a couple dollars. Then on Monday, my usual $5 transfer from checking to savings obv wasn't there b/c account was now neg. They took it to the savings acct anyway and charged me another $39.00 fee. Then I had two more transactions pending that overdrew b/c now my account is like neg $80. All said, that two dollars cost me $160 in fees. At least I now know I can take them to small claims court.
Yes Chase charged me $500. In overdraft fees this week. that's about 15 times. They charge overdraft fees for their own overdraft fee. Because of a slight miscalculation and delayed postings. I was good for the money and had a check come in. so Now I'm -269, have no money for food. Should be +230. I fought with them, and they said EXACTLY what Nader said. After fighting for 20 minutes, the man got short and said "thank you for banking with chase". FUCK. I want my fucking money back.
Overdraft is a scam!!! Its not right that the banks rape everyday Americans! All bank cards should stop when it reaches $0.00, Every time you swipe your card and your past $0.00, their is a fee to every transaction, this can be stopped easily!!! The damn card knows when you make a purchase, no matter if its a $10,000 or $00.99. I think its smart enough to know when the money runs out!!! The banks want this to happen and its wrong!
It is YOUR responsiblity to know your account balance, not the bank. The bank paid items beyond the balance in your account, GUESS WHAT! there's a fee for doing that! The fee is because the bank is LENDING you their money! the fee is also considered a PENALTY or WARNING so you don't keep operating your account in the red.
I'm sorry, but I work in a bank call center, so normally I have to be very delicate when explaining OD penalties to customers, but on Youtube I don't have to!
With the economy the way it is & all these banks going out of business, take your money out of the banks and buy a fireproof safe & place it under the floor somewhere. If you have any 401's, stocks, etc, take your money out or you are going to lose it. One day you'll go to the ATM and the bank won't be giving you your money. I only keep a few bucks in there to keep it open so I'm not charged to cash checks, etc.
@feckineejit Do you believe or not believe it's going to happen? With BO in office, it's going to happen. Banks have been going under left and right in the last year. The one you work for may be one of them though I hope not so you can keep your job. And that is a sincere comment because I know what it's like to be out of work and look for a job everyday.
Good stuff! I definitely have a problem with the bank posting large drafts first! Nearly all of the overdraft charges I've gotten over the last year were cases where more than one item came through on a given day and the bank posted the largest item(s) first so that all of the items incurred overdrafts as opposed to just the last/largest draft.
you've you've agreed to the fees in your terms of service with whatever institution you are with as there are full disclosure laws in every developed nation.
how about people try taking accountability for their own actions? pay attention to your balance before going shopping. it is that simple.
When you credit card is at it's limit it is simply declined. This should be the case with debit cards. If nothing is there to handle the charge then it should be declined.
I can't believe the government isn't doing anythiing about this immoral practice by the bank screwing people over by overdraft fees! This is just redicolous!
I'm going through this right now. 24 cents overdrawn cost me $34.00 and even after I deposited cash to cover a $6 transaction they still piled 2 more of those fees on me. I have the entire thing recorded. Thinking I might send it to the news
if your tired of these crooks then lets start a class action lawsuit and take back our land. come visit me at (THE NEW VOICE OF THE PEOPLE) on Facebook, and voice your concern and invite all your friends so that we can fight together and get our country back. The majority rules and if we get enough that come together they have to listen!
BANK OF AMERICA IS THE MOST CORRUPT BANK IN THE COUNTRY!. Bank of America harassed me, ruined my credit, charged me over $800 in fees over a 10 day period, tried to humiliate me, and never stopped calling my house- all because of $50 overdraft!!
In one day I was charged over $250 in overdraft fees because of a company that took advantage of my bank account- BofA charges more fees than any bank in the World!
F*** Wells fargo.... I bought four items yesterday, each other $10.... guess what... $35 overdraft fee for each one!!! thats $140!!!! I wanted to strangle the mother f**** on the other end of the phone when i called.... im through with wells fargo, have a good day
Hey everyone I'm respond to all your comments because first midwest bank of northwest Indiana is posting out ragous over draft fees and charges to my checking account that should not be there. I know what it's like to be ripped off by your own bank because this bank is doing this to me and I'm on a fixed income. I may have to sue them in small claims if I can't get my complaint resolved. Please feel free to respond to my coment.
In this economy, our of work, with kids and family struggling for survival... I paid around $800 this year in overdraft fees to FUCKING Bank of America. For about $40 in small overdrafts. I didn't ask them to pay those, why not just decline card transaction?
The FR just came up with a rule for banks, that you can opt out from the "overdraft protection". Guess what, it starts in... July 1010. Why not now& So they can make more cash?
I know how these consumers feel about overdraft fees. In Canada, I deal with Scotiabank, one of the big four banks here. Those idiots at Scotiabank refused to give my wife and I overdraft protection but then charged us a NSF fee for being over a lousy 65 cents. 65 Cents, can you believe it? No wonder the banks are doing so well financially, they screw people and steal from their customers accounts. The Governement of Canada should do something about this stupid practice!
wow im going to take bank of america to a small claims court too. I have lost about 400 dollars in the last 2 months over me spending under 50 dollars.
Shit, now I want to take my evil bank to small claims court even though I haven't overdrafted recently. Only because I love them (and want them to die)!
The legislation against the banks is a joke. Almost everything in this country is built around the banks. Why do you think they've been getting bail outs while there has not been nary additional stimulus check for the people? MESSAGE! And have you even read some of the legislation? It will be stonewalled just like it has in the past. It is something cute that politicians use to garner votes and then let die during review. Just being realistic. Check the history.
Some people stand behind the banks due to the fact that the overdraft fees are presumably the consumers fault. However, the problem with this is that we, the consumers, DO NOT WANT the ability to overdraft our accounts. It is there to take advantage of people with the lowest amounts of money because we don't have as much cushion in our accounts. And the fact that the bank doesn't alert you to the fact your overdrafting is ridiculous.
Thank you so much for doing this! I have sued Bank of America twice and won both times. If it hadn't been for your video, I would not have even tried this. You have saved me hundreds of dollars and showed banks that they can't trample on consumers like they are accustomed to doing.
I don't know why I switched from Wachovia they have 24 hour service and when I would occasionally overdraw they would charge me but not for each individual overdraw. Regions however has horrible customer service. Items pend for way too long leaving you thinking you still have money in the bank. I just got charged $336 dollars in overdraft fees now I don't think I'll have enough to make it the next two weeks.
HAHA, F BOA, they are pack of liars and scam artists, I paid off everything to them and canceled all my accounts, They did something similar to me, raised one of my cards to 30% saying I had bad credit? I told their bank what? I own a car and house that are in good standing and have always paid my bills they lie and will tell you have bad credit as justification to their rates that rip people off,
I went back to the federal credit union FU BOA 6.9% on my cc now ps: boa got class action sue they settled for 35 million out of court as their banking procedures intentionally make you od as much as possible, they dont take the charges out in order but in an order to get as many OD fees.
this just happen to my with my first bank account and my capital one credit card between the both of them they charge me around $309 for over expend $70 now i got $200 for two weeks of food ,gas, and pay $450 of rent which is due tomorrow
i just pay $309 on overdraft fee for expending .....$65 now i got $ 200 dollars to get food for 2 weeks , put gas in my car to get to work and pay my rent wich is due tomorrow and is $450
OK i half to post this seems like a good video to hit it with .. ive worked with a large banking inst. for years now. with the new govement bill going into effect soon. are bank (among others) will now NOT b reversing fees of any kind short of a bank error. also they have raised the intrest ratio on 70+ % of all there credit cards that ive seen threw out the days of late so watch ya selves
what would've been your defense if you had to go to small claims?

I'm with Wells Fargo right now and just got hit with $175 in overdraft fess. I received a check and put the $ in a couple of days after to cover everything. Called them up and they said, "sorry, we can't reverse any of these fees". I escalated the call and they still would not do anything for me.

after a $700 row of overdraft FEES, not to count the charges themselves, I think I'm definitely gonna do this...

I mean I moved $ from one BofA to another Bo A acct so why is it pending. If you had an emergency and needed $100 and went to the ATM, the ATM will ask you if you agree with the OD fee. You hit OK, get ur money w/ the knowledge that you are accept this with one fee. But, instead the bank places that $100 withdrawal at the bottom and you not only get the fee to take the 100 out but then you get hit with 5 more fees for all the other things that were from before. That's illegal
sethkuoha 1 year ago
this is 2 of 3 Then two days later I transfer $100 in my kids account and for whatever reason check my B of A account and saw that his transfer dropped to the bottom while at least 5 debit purchases that were already done move up to the top and show as pending . Now imagine if you were on a budget and only had $40 or so left in your account to your name. Let's say you had an emergency and needed $100. Those other charges and transfers should have been done.
sethkuoha 1 year ago
This is 1 of 3
so I just accidentally ran across this video and will absolutely try this method. I don't on purpose go out to run up OD fees only to try to get them back but, just last week I made several debit charges that you would think would automatically come out of your account because it is a debit transaction (if you don't have the money the transfer can't happen).
sethkuoha 1 year ago
They're doing it in purpose to corrupt the whole....wherever you put your money it's no safe,,they'll take it or they'll take you...Their purpose is to collapse the whole worlds financial....so never dream to get rich and stock your treasure in these scam bugs...don't work hard...just enough for food, shelter, clothing...no more working hard...take time for God, and will have peace. These gold diggers are going to melt their gold w/them in a hellfire.
pigybnksbtr 1 year ago
Ummm take them to small claims court for what? because you think the fees are too high? Thats like buying a burger at macdonalds and then suing them for charging you more thna you think the burger was worth. Who says the fees have to be an amount that you like?... esp when you are forcing overdrafts just to generate fees
abprepboy33 1 year ago
Im trying this on Key Bank. I racked up over 300 in overdraft fees off of one miscalculation. Its well worth 40 dollars to try and take back a little of what I work for.
Dobber9million 1 year ago
Ok i dont like the OD fees either, but I have a friend who use to work at a bank.... and they said that bank represenatives are allowed to reverse a limited amount of OD fees. There are people out there who get OD fees because items mispost, or a check written to them bounces, or transactions are processed largest to smallest. You on the other hand walk into a mall TRYING to create OD fees, and then call the bank to reverse those fees.
abprepboy33 1 year ago
- Those reversals could have been saved for someone who really deserved to have them reversed. If your just playing games to create OD fees.... why should the bank help you?
abprepboy33 1 year ago
@abprepboy33 Because the bank can only reverse so many? They have a limit?
Dobber9million 1 year ago

Luckily, legislation is now letting irresponsible, or those who dont want it, opt out
oldskool2121 1 year ago
@oldskool2121 Are you in any way shape or form suggesting that banks are responsible for their actions? I didn't think so. You know I bet a few people have been told they were 'irresponsible' in their spending by the banks, but it's that irresposibility they prey on. I don't knowk, maybe deep down inside you feel this is somehow right or maybe you just don't know...
imingzee 1 year ago
@oldskool2121 I believe the video was to prove a point clearly he intentionally received the overdraft fees the point of the video was how to get rid of them. I received tons of unnecessary over draft fees from bank of America because their manipulation of transaction dates and amounts. How can a debit transaction take 5 days to clear some times and the same day other times depending on what day will make the bank money.

FortNikitaBullion 1 year ago

What I suggested, banks used to do and closed accounts!
jahellaspartan 1 year ago
@sydneysmooth21

These bank fees are illegal and unfair. Period.

Great video! ;)

Calibre420 2 years ago
So, you ARE for predatory practices that hide behind large automated systems set up to withhold deposits and process all large withdrawls first - in order to capitalize on all the small ones ? Wouldnt that be like throwing stones in front of your childs bicycle and penalizing them for falling saying they get what they deserve - but for a hefty fee I will "protect you " ? did you even watch the video before you responded? because Ive really got to wonder " where the hell you are coming from"!
Calibre420 2 years ago

Calibre420 2 years ago
The average joe is smart enough to NOT spend money they DONT have. If you're not, then you're a BELOW average joe. I never claimed to be an authority on anything. I do know that people who can't or don't keep track of their money are stupid and lazy. I have no sympathy for them. You can't keep track of your own money and you come at me with that tired old "I'll bet you live with mommy and daddy" garbage? Maybe you should move back in with yours... Perhaps they could pay your fees for you.
4n4Lv4p0r 2 years ago
You know you could just not be such a god damn leech and balance your checkbook. Stupidity should be taxed, and that's EXACTLY what over draft fees are.
How dumb do you have to be to spend money you don't have and then whine when the people that had to cover for you expect to be paid for it.
You people are pathetic losers and drains on the rest of us.
4n4Lv4p0r 2 years ago
but they're not a "tax". if they went to public schools and to build roads then fine... but they go to the fat cats at the top who could give a shit about their customers. if you think this is okay, then you are the golden shining example of why capitalism is officially dead in america.
smeeling 2 years ago
Fine, then call it a charge... Like I did. Why would any bank give a shit about "customers" who spend the banks money rather than they're own? If you're too broke or too stupid to have a bank account, don't open one.
You're saying the I am the reason capitalism is dead, when you're protesting a bank charging someone to use it's money? That's rich.
4n4Lv4p0r 2 years ago
I called my bank and told them that I wanted the overdraft fees removed. She told me know and I asked to speak to her boss. After I told them that I was potentially close my account because I have been a good customer, getting them clients because I used to love the bank, he changed his tone and gave me my money back. Just threaten to leave and be serious about it all the time. It's a recession, they need the service and good rep.

mother fucking wells fargo!... they so manipulated my numbers in my accounts causing me to have and overdraft fee!!.... something that had already been paid for with debit 1 week ago they decided to move the transaction to today's date!
MrOldies650 2 years ago 2

At least I now know I can take them to small claims court.
hunterscion7 2 years ago

StumpAway 2 years ago

Nearly all of the overdraft charges I've gotten over the last year were cases where more than one item came through on a given day and the bank posted the largest item(s) first so that all of the items incurred overdrafts as opposed to just the last/largest draft.
kagetsujin 2 years ago
you've you've agreed to the fees in your terms of service with whatever institution you are with as there are full disclosure laws in every developed nation.
how about people try taking accountability for their own actions? pay attention to your balance before going shopping. it is that simple.
clampicus 2 years ago
When you credit card is at it's limit it is simply declined. This should be the case with debit cards. If nothing is there to handle the charge then it should be declined.

I can't believe the government isn't doing anythiing about this immoral practice by the bank screwing people over by overdraft fees! This is just redicolous!
They are thieves, plain and simple!
Something must be done to solve this problem!

I'm going through this right now. 24 cents overdrawn cost me $34.00 and even after I deposited cash to cover a $6 transaction they still piled 2 more of those fees on me. I have the entire thing recorded. Thinking I might send it to the news

They want the overdraft fees cause it's one of their biggest revenue streams. About 35 billion in raping people in the ass like that last year alone.

July 1010. Why not now& So they can make more cash?
vladtheeditor 2 years ago 2
go to the bank and ask them to opt you out of overdrafting. they do that now.

Check the history.

i wish i saw this before going ch7.... BOA and Capital One can BITE ME.
canosgmk 2 years ago
Some people stand behind the banks due to the fact that the overdraft fees are presumably the consumers fault. However, the problem with this is that we, the consumers, DO NOT WANT the ability to overdraft our accounts. It is there to take advantage of people with the lowest amounts of money because we don't have as much cushion in our accounts. And the fact that the bank doesn't alert you to the fact your overdrafting is ridiculous.
mike19864 2 years ago

I own a car and house that are in good standing and have always paid my bills they lie and will tell you have bad credit as justification to their rates that rip people off,
xiola6969 2 years ago
I went back to the federal credit union FU BOA 6.9% on my cc now ps: boa got class action sue they settled for 35 million out of court as their banking procedures intentionally make you od as much as possible, they dont take the charges out in order but in an order to get as many OD fees.
