  • why the hell did i watch that

  • there may be cctv but its isn't being constantly monitored. Do you think anybody actually cares? Its more of a deterrent. Nobody is going to sit staring at a screen all day and night. The reality is nobody gives a shit

  • 2:02 no thx

  • 7:46!! a one car dlr train? NEVER!

  • @Grenade45 Indeed so, yes; in the DLR's early days... not nowadays!

  • quality video, but is there a source for your comments at 4:44 ?

  • @Grenade45 TV and media reports showing the technology, that it exists, how it works...

Below I quote from the Wikipedia "Facial_recognition_system" webpage.

"In addition to being used for security systems, authorities have found a number of other applications for facial recognition systems. While earlier post 9/11 deployments were well publicized trials, more recent deployments are rarely written about due to their covert nature."

  • @Grenade45

btw, its worth bearing in mind the importance & high sensitivity of the area around London's Bank station.

  • Have they ever thought of extending the DLR to Waterloo?

  • @KasHCubeD Not Waterloo, but Victoria/Charing Cross has been considered.

  • Do you have clips of Waterloo station?

  • @hakc97isback sorry, its unlikely that I will have, as I hardly ever used that station.

  • @citytransportinfo what other clips of stations do you have that you havent uploaded?

  • @hakc97isback Oh my goodness, loads. Morden depot open day 1990. Upminster depot 25th anniversary. South Kenton. Many stations on the Circle Line. Steam trains on the Met & District Lines. DLR footage. Manchester Metrolink (plus a little before Metrolink). Melbourne, Vancouver, Calgary, Portland MAX, Montreal, Paris (just a little) Geneva, Turin, Gent, Amsterdam, Karlsruhe, plus more European stuff.

Currently (Oct 2011) I'm working on buses outside London. Then Bordeaux Megabus, then....

  • @citytransportinfo can you upload any Circle Line footage please?

  • @hakc97isback yes, but not yet, as it has not been digitised and I need a new hard drive, as both the hard drive on my computer and my backup hard drive are almost full.

I hope to get a new hard drive in the winter sales.

    Simon

  • @citytransportinfo I would be happy to contribute :P well, if you pay me

  • @SMALTV Thanks; despite the global shortage of hard drives (caused by factory flooding in Thailand) I have managed to buy a new hard drive.

However a change of job now restricts time. Also, I still have some films which have been digitised to uplift, which I hope will be completed in January (2012).

Creating the 'New Bus For London" films has also set me back a bit, as I'm getting these finished before catching up with the other stuff.

  • @citytransportinfo Can you do the South Kenton clips please, that would be so fantastic.

  • @TheCatapultTV

    Now Done! :-)

I hope you found it to be of interest.

    Simon

  • when you used to be aloud to video stuff likes this..... how times change

  • 0:37 Looks like a horror movie all creepy

  • Fantastic vid, congrats!!

  • The old DLR livery looked so much better. :(

  • they probably have a more upto date underground system in ethiopia

  • Is the train the has south east on it still reconnoitring?

  • 4:23 they should use those in new york

  • i like waterloo and city line it takes alot of pressure out of other lines

  • Couldn't they have made Waterloo & city line a bus service instead??

  • @andrewhurricane not back in the days when the line was built. Anyway, if you saw the number of people who travel on it - especially in the rush hours - you'd understand why its so worthy of new trains and other investments.

  • @citytransportinfo The central line 1992TS has 8 carriages and the W&C only has 4 I wonder y

  • @Cazkumali The Central Line has longer station platforms... it would indeed be useful if the platforms on the W&C were longer. All that is needed is for someone to pay for the works and planning approval.

  • @andrewhurricane on the 1940 waterloo and city line stock there was a BR sign on it! lol =D

  • may i ask, what was the point for the Waterloo and city line? it seems a bit pointless to me???

  • @jamwithmates123 To get people who arrive by train at Waterloo Station to the heart of London's Financial district.

    Simon

  • nice vid

  • nice video's i like the old w&c trains :D

  • Unfortunately, I dislike Dockland railway because the problem is sound like pong is really loud is possible broken ears become deaf!

  • Comment removed

  • @ecxpac although you've removed your comments I'd like to reply...

yes it is ages since the DLR used single unit trains, double (twin) unit trains are still used on many services whilst triple (3) unit trains were reecently introduced on the Bank -Lewisham service and once station platform lengthening works have been completed will be used on some other routes too.

    Simon

  • At one time, there were plans to inguriate the waterloo and city line into the DLR network. But they havn't come to anything and there were plans to also extend the line into the Finsbury Park to Moorgate branch of the national rail network, but they also havn't come to anything because if went ahead, the W & C line would need new platforms at Bank which would be tiome consuming.

  • Good thing the DLR introduced 3 car units. Helps ease the overcrowding.

  • I believe you when you say that facial recognition technology is being used, but how did you find that out and who is responsible TfL or the Met?

  • @astralwarrior8

Local TV news feature showing how it works, limitations, etc.

    Both CCTV technologies.

    Simon

  • Wow pretty big difference lol...
