Also, Israel had encircled the Third Army, which was in Sinai! Israel took African parts of Egypt in this war, and Egypt also took a small part of the Sinai. What the Israelis did when the war turned to their side was cut through the gap of land between the Second and Third Armies :)

What you say is true - in 1975 the Suez canal was reopen again, but that was only possible because of the cease-fire agreement, which Israel basically agreed (as a favor - because it was ON the canal) to let Egypt control both sides of i.

@ofri75 The Egyptian Army had passed by the Bar Lev line, 12 KM into the peninsula and then they stopped. That land was kept throughout the whole war. A favor? The Isrealis had put thousands of mines in the canal and when Egypt reoccupied it they removed those mines with American help. The Egyptian army kicked out the Israelis from Suez city and Ismailia before the war ended.
Egypt has only lost the two wars since World War 2. Israel on the other hand lost against Hezbollah. LOL!

The 1973 war ended in a very CLEAR Israeli victory. Not only that ALL Israeli troops were in Sinai at the end of this war, but some of them were even west to the Suez canel.

Egypt didn't receive the Sinai back as part of their war effort, at the top of their offensive they were only a few km from the canal, not even close to retaking the Sinai and it wasn't even part of their plan. Israel however by the end of the war, was a 100km from Cairo. Egypt got the Sinai back because of the peace treaty Sadat has signed with Israel, not because of their war effort. Sadat could have offered the peace treaty, while avoiding a war altogether and still get Sinai back.

I don't know what you are been taught in the Egyption propaganda education system, but at the end of the 1973, not only that ALL of Sinai was held by Israel - parts of Egypt that are west to the Suez canel ("African Egypt") were also held and occupied by Israel. Egypt totally lost that war.

@ofri75 Egypt DID hold territory in Sinai. First, where does it even say anything about the Second Army being pushed behind the Suez? Nowhere, cuz Egypt never let go of it. Also, Israel had encircled the Third Army, which was in Sinai! Israel took African parts of Egypt in this war, and Egypt also took a small part of the Sinai. What the Israelis did when the war turned to their side was cut through the gap of land between the Second and Third Armies :)

What you say is true - in 1975 the Suez canal was reopen again, but that was only possible because of the cease-fire agreement, which Israel basically agreed (as a favor - because it was ON the canal) to let Egypt control both sides of i.
By the way - why did Egypt lose in ALL wars i participated since WW2? is that because you are so weak, or only corrupted?

@ofri75 The Egyptian Army had passed by the Bar Lev line, 12 KM into the peninsula and then they stopped. That land was kept throughout the whole war. A favor? The Isrealis had put thousands of mines in the canal and when Egypt reoccupied it they removed those mines with American help. The Egyptian army kicked out the Israelis from Suez city and Ismailia before the war ended.
Egypt has only lost the two wars since World War 2. Israel on the other hand lost against Hezbollah. LOL!

1967: WE were attacked by Israel.

@ofri75 President Sadat had offered Israel a peace treaty in return for Sinai BEFORE the war but Israel refused. Only after the war did Israel accept the treaty.
Even after the 3rd Army was encircled Egypt won 3 battles. At the end of the war before Egypt was pressured by the UN, Soviet Union and the US to sign the peace treaty Egypt had pushed out the Israeli army from el-Mansoura and Suez city. There were 11 battles between Egypt and Israel, Egypt won 6 and Israel won 5.

When the 1973 war ended on 26/10, Israel had more land west of Suez Canal than the Egyptians had on the east.
So between 06/10 and 26/10 Israel gained land and Egypt lost land.
The status on 26/10/1973 was:
Egyptians forces in the canal area were exposed to Israeli air strikes unlike the air superior Israelis.
30,000 Egyptian troops were encircled with no access to drinking water.
Egypt begged desperately for a cease fire while Israel wanted to continue the fight.
So who won that war ?

And also consider that Sadat's goal was not Israel's absolute military defeat, which was near impossible. Sadat wanted a return of the Sinai, which Israel, prior to '73, refused to negotiate as it considered Egypt's military threat with condescension and contempt. The '73 war scared the Israelis enough that they entered into extensive negotiations with Egypt and ultimately returned the Sinai.

None the less, Egyptian crossing of the canal, was a splendid achievement by any Military scale.

and Egypt as an obedient ally.
If Egyptians want to celebrate the event that gave them Sinai back,
it should be Henry Kissinger's Birthday rather than 6/10.

Before the war Saadat did offer peace with Israel with no diplomatic relations
in condition of an Israeli withdrawal from all 1967 occupied Arab lands. Not only from Sinai.
Israel also wanted to keep part of Sinai to itself.
But it was the U.S secretary of state Henry Kissinger who forced U.S. will on both sides.
Egypt gained the saving of its 3rd army, American weaponry, Israeli withdrawal from the canal's west bank in 1974, another part of Sinai in 1975 and from the rest of it in 1979.

The Sinai Peninsula is on Egyptian hands today, unlike before the 1973 war.
It doesn't mean that Egypt won that war.
When the war ended, Israel held almost all of Sinai and a lot of land on the west bank of the Suez Canal.
Iwo-Jima was in Japanese control before the American invasion of the island as it is now.
Is it mean that Japan won the battle of Iwo-Jima ?
No. America occupied it and later gave it back to Japan.

Egypt didn't receive the Sinai back as part of their war effort, at the top of their offensive they were only a few km from the canal, not even close to retaking the Sinai and it wasn't even part of their plan. Israel however by the end of the war, was a 100km from Cairo. Egypt got the Sinai back because of the peace treaty Sadat has signed with Israel, not because of their war effort. Sadat could have offered the peace treaty, while avoiding a war altogether and still get Sinai back.
