Hey Marty, thanks for all the great posts...You make it fun, informative, and best of all, we LEARN!...There is one song that you havent posted yet...Hall & Oats ACOUSTIC version of "Sarah Smile"...Up for it?...I want to learn how to play it for my wife...Appreciate it...
how much guittars in the song you play?? like the chord and the start and the second thing D D D U D UU UDUD its all the same guitar? or its few guitars?
I can't do that B minor barre chord yet, but the "easy B minor" xxo432 (capo 1) doesn't sound too bad, is a lot easier to get to from D, and that way I didn't have to give up on the song, which is otherwise so easy and fun to play for a total beginner like me. Thank you for this lesson.
I was just started messing around like we begginers do and fell upon E and A and asked my wife what song this was as i was strumming along and She told me. "My Sweet Lord" and of course I had to know how to play the rest of it and here I am...Thanks again Marty your the best!
Hmmm...this video is dated December 2009 which means it's 2 years old so I am wondering if you, marty, are still around and active because I would also like to make a request.
thanks ...especially for the subtle 'jazz' chord. George sang this at the Concert for Bangladesh ...and for me, being from that country, this song is like a second anthem. And you know what ...you should sing more in your vids :D ...not half bad!
If a could pay you 500 bucks online i would! Im really thankful to have you Marty! You're the man! Yes i believe what they say, You're the most helpful person on YouTube!
Thanks Marty for the lesson, this lesson helped me get the B7 chords down better! I always had a hard time with it but playing D to B7 helped me out. The Beatles used that chord a lot!! Robert
@neogeoriffic You do understand that DUDU stands for Down Up Down Up right? He's not gonna show you "just the cords", and if you're looking for "just the cords", you're searching the wrong place. Strumming pattern is also really important, so instead of going "Wtf" right away, maybe you should know where you are and what you want.
WOW YOUR FAB IAM 16 and love the beatles not alot of young kids my age love the beatles like i do hear comes the sun if my fav from george and i would love it if u could play that so i can learn of a fag guitar player thanks alot stace
@PalmerNirvana lol, i like the smiley. K, so what you do is (with capo on), first finger on the 2nd fret of the High E String, 2nd finger on the 3rd fret of the B string, and your third finger on the 4th fret of the G string. I'll repeat:
Hey Marty. I just wanted to tell you that your tutorials are awesome! They are by far the best videos on YouTube. I've learned about 10 songs from you on YouTube and each one gets easier than the one before it. Thanks for all the help and please keep posting!
Putting the capo on the 2nd fret made it work for me. When I had it on the first fret it sounded quite horrible. Why does Marty's still sound good with the capo being on the first fret?
Hey Marty, another great video - many thanks. I tried a D# diminished after D major and sounds okay and it's very similar to D major to its easier to get into (up a string and add pinky). I also cheated with the B minor by not barring it. For a beginner I found this a little easier. I think the thing about which fret to position the capo doesn't really matter too much (2nd fret for me), its just so the open chords don't continue to ring out and make it sound muddy. Thanks again.
I just watched George Harrison play this on a youTube vid with a band, and he played an acoustic guitar with the capo on the second fret. I would imagine he did that because of the key he wanted to sing it in. I think you can put that capo on any dang fret you want. As they say, if it sounds good to you, then screw what the so called "experts" say/think. Great lesson again Marty. I did play it with the capo on the second fret. Then again on the first fret. It's fret hell for me, I guess.
Hello Marty, thanks a million! This is fabulous. I was looking for someone to teach me the guitar the same way pianojohn113 teaches the piano, ie in a very neat and clear manner. Thanks to John, I can now play about 30 of my favourite Beatles songs. I hope I will be able to succeed on the guitar as well (acoustic and electric). But it is very very difficult! Will you teach some of Fogerty's someday? I caught Born on the Bayou, but it was not very well explained. Many thanks again Marty!
@beresitha9 Watch George Harrison play it on stage at The Concert for Bangladesh. Exact same chords progression. For the 2nd part click on the request song link. You get the video link. It's free. I got it for Yesterday.
Do you realise how many tutorials marty has posted? He probably just got mixed up with another song with the Capo. Calm you're hormones. Great job marty! Always a big help! :)
Thanks for putting the time and effort to give us all these great videos! I just started playing guitar and thanks to you this is the first real song I've learned to play
@MrRickyspencer if your to stupid to not be able to fix it yourself maybe you should stop playing guitar. he is playing the song right. its still the same chords no matter were the capo is.
I'm not trying to bust any chops but just for everyone's information, the capo should be on the second fret for the correct key of the recording. Thanks for doing these tutorials Marty.
