I tested out the Newtons before I ever heard of Chi Running. Didn't like them. I think they aren't really Chi shoes they are more forefoot than midfoot and pretty expensive. You should be at 5:30 in no time. I will be happy at 6 but have my sights set on 5:00
actually, this is an old video and I am at 5:30 but haven't really run the mile very much lately. my last one, which I kind of let go in the last 200, was 5:36, so I'm getting better.
It is the only mile road race I have found. San Diego,California.
It took me a while to figure out the Chi running. There are some good videos on youtube. I would suggest buying the dvd and or book.
Things that helped me the most were: shorten my stride, land midfoot instead of ball or heel of foot, lift feet instead of pushing off the ground, relax the legs and hips, lean forward to use gravity.
yeah, I'm still learning. I bought a pair of Newton Running's shoes and they were too extreme for me. too bad I don't live closer to SD or I'd come and run it. :(
lol 1:17 in the one lap. er 400 meters maybe?

How old were you when you ran this? My first sub-6 mile was last year (11 years old)... Nice by the way!
