Another way to tell the difference between a raccoon or a fox, is the coloring of the fur. Foxes are heavily orange, with a white patch in the breast area. Raccoons also have an organge tint mixed in with their mainly grey coloring, but mainly in the breast area (the opposite of a fox). Now look at the second picture of the montauk monster. There is a heavy orange tint to the fur, mixed with grey, but the grey/white is mainly in the middle area, while the rest has a mainly orange color.
It isn't a fox. There is no doubt of this. I am trained in anatomy and I gave reasons why it cannot by a fox. These reasons need to be overcome before anyone can even entertain the idea of it being a dog or related animal.
First of all, I am not a "Roadkillogist." I study anatomy, as well as taphonomy. Both are aspects of paleontology.
Next, it isn't, "a pig on a poke." It's, "a pig IN a poke," as a poke is a bag, not a stick. They used to sell small pigs in a bag at the market in the Middle Ages. Sometimes people would try and rip-off the customers and place a cat in the bag instead, hence the phrase, "Letting the cat out of the bag," which means to reveal the truth.
All you are seeing is dead skin pealing off, just like is seen on the flanks of the animal on the other side. Heck, you can still see the hair attached to it. I have seen this type of pealing on many dead animals...it is common.
