First of all I'm not taking it to my handlebars, I am placing a lock around my front wheel, then taking the orange cord and placing it around the kickstand. Therefore if you need but he moves the bike in any way flips up the kickstand it would set off the alarm. This is all download and casually walking up the bike you do not notice the lock or the cord. Furthermore, every time I've ever used this lock, I have had my cover on the bike is well.
Thank you for the review, I'm thinking of picking this up for my bike as well. Any idea if it's possible to remove the key from the unit when the shank is removed? I'm just thinking it would be easier to store under the seat if the two pieces were separated
Thanks for the review. The range of the pager is supposedly 1/2 mile outside in clear sight. Does anyone know the approximate range of the pager inside of motels, restaurants, office buildings, etc? Also, there appears to be a LED on the lock. If so, does it periodically flash when activated?
I want to make sure it senses movement on a horizontal plane. I am thinking because you had the lock laying flat and not necessarily how it would be on the bike had something to do with its sensitivity.
I just bought this lock online and will be receiving it tomorrow.
Thanks again for the review, looking forward to one on and actual bike.
@siw21954 It's actually pretty sensitive! Almost too sensitive lol...but it has done it's job perfectly. I have had to replace the battery in the keychain pager already but that was because the alarm in the pager was going off while I was at work.
I just received the lock. I have one question. How are you opening it after it's been locked? Does turning off the pager disarm the lock so you can put the key in to open it? I thought it did but, it hasn't been the case. Unless I'm doing something wrong.
@siw21954 It's kind of tricky. Once you unlock it turn the key back and leave it for a few seconds and turn it back so you can remove it. It will beep the 2 times to let you know it has been disarmed. I'll be honest and say that is the biggest pain in the ass about it but peace of mind is worth it.
Thanks, I guess I have to handle it in a manner that won't set it off when I unlock it. I agree. It's a small P.I.A. At least I know that the pager goes off when I'm at work. Someone must have touched the bike and set off the alarm. I'm on the 2nd floor so, I looked out the window. In NYC the biggest issue is parking a bike and not having it knocked over.
@siw21954 Thats what I do....I even have a chain hooked to it and if it goes off I just cup my hand over the speaker part to deaden the sound until I deactivate it with the remote. I have had the wind set it off a few times too; if you hook it to the disc where it's not solid where it lays it may have just slipped and settled. But I am also sure you have the same issue as we do here in Hawaii...people like to take what's not theirs.
Thanks for the review brotha....I live in Hawaii and security is a must for anything here. There are plenty of people here wanting to rob you of your possessions.
How has it worked since you purchased it? Looks like it took some considerable movement before it went off.
Would you be willing to put it on your bike and simulate someone tipping the bike up with the lock in place and armed?

by putting a big flashy cord up to the handlebars, isn't that just inviting thieves to notice the lock and be able to cut it off right away?

does the alarm just keep going off until you use the pager to reset it? or does it just go off for ten or twenty seconds then reset itself?

Thanks. That's all I need to know. Wanted to make sure it was more sensitive than what appeared in the video. Gonna order it.
