I LOVED this particular opening/closing ... when I think of the show, this opening always comes to mind. A website called SoapClassics has already released special themed box sets of ATWT episodes and they plan on doing the same with other Proctor & Gamble soaps. Buena Vists (Disney) is really missing the boat on this. I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting classic episods of AMC, OLTL, and GH on DVD.
god, how i wish we ALL could get back the things we wanted right now, to bring back those wonderful memories of daytime television. how it REALLY sucks to lose what we've been blessed with. we all know good things comes to an end, BUT MAN!!!! PLEASE DON'T END ONE LIFE TO LIVE!!!!!
@aaronlobbley - Too late, sadly. We all should have supported the shows more or something, they're gone. This show was around all of my life, it's just weird that it's going away in about 2 weeks. The show that replaced AMC is un-watchable and i know the other new one will stink too. "reality" and talk shows have ruined the whole medium - they spend such a small amount of money, still sell ads, we lose. :(
robin strasser didn't play dorian lord because her and executive producer paul rauch got into an argument so she resigned temporary from the role of dorian lord until early 1993.
I just listened to this again. So much of this song you don't know because the long credits weren't run that often. The lyrics at about 1:00 grab my heart. Something about "we don't know how long forever will last, so let's find someone and share this life together". Peobo's voice is just so beautiful as well...... I will NEVER NOT MISS the soaps going off the air with long credits. It's just not gonna happen.
@TimsDale4ever TOTALLY AND COMPLETELTY know what you're saying! I feel the exact same way. I used to love reading the cast list during the long version of the song. Yes, that part of the song is gorgeous. I also miss (like you) the way they used to roll the credits. Now they play a commercial while the credits are given underneath in tiny print. It's so crazy. When did our society decide that we have to have 16 things going on at one time? Even when you're online , there's so much to filter out
@MrChicago891 - It's all about the bottom line, money. And i agree about too much going on - is it any wonder so many kids have ADD? I feel like i need to be doing so much at once, my head wants to explode.
@blkjock81 Ron Schubert gave me a melody lead sheet to this theme (which was composed by Dave Grusin). I may play it on YouTube one of these days after I've played more of the themes of Charlie Paul and Eddie Layton.
So beautiful.......God, I miss all the shows closings back then. The combinations of title designs, theme compositions, credit displays, and background graphics used were just exquisite. I heartly thank all who were involved...
Call me crazy but I swear if I were a producer for one of these shows I would go back, and say for a week at a time today, I would close the show with 5 of the past best closings the show ever had -- each day being a different one. All you would have to change is the credit crawl and the copyright at the end. Wouldn't that be a hoot? - and long time fans would be screaming. Mon. would be the fireplace one, Tues. the horizon one, Wed Peabo, Thur satin sheets, and Friday the orange ONE. Riot!!
@TimsDale4ever OMG. That is a fabulous idea. If there ever was a show to do try something daring like that, it would be OLTL ! They're full of surprises and that's why I have stayed a loyal fan for the last 35 years.
Does anyone know who sang the theme song to "One Life To Live" in that era? It sounds like either Jeffrey Osbourne or Peabo Bryson or one of those guys.
This song brings me so many memories. This song was playing on my family tape. Plus this was my mom's favorite Soap Opera. When watching this video, It makes me cry.
These really are better than the current openings and closings...partcularly for General Hospital. I don't think people would mind if they just started using them again. They'd save money anyway.
I agree totally, The best opening and closing. I like AMCs 1990 version until they changed it 95, but they have outdone theirselves with their current version. I hope they never change the music.
they really should bring these openings and closings back. I used to sing these when I was a kid especially the closings. I swear if I ever hear these again, I will be singing my ass of.
Me too! Honestly, I got tears in my eyes when I found the videos with the openings and closings from the mid 80's to the early 90's. I used to watch OLTL everyday during summer vacation and made my Mom tape it during school. This theme song was awesome. I was so angry when they got rid of it. It's been years since I've watched OLTL, but it was my favorite soap. Remember Luna Moody? What memories!
I bawled like a BABY the whole week she died. Max was never the same without her. ONE LIFE is my new favorite soap. Used to be AMC, but they've totally ruined it in the last 5-10 yrs. OLTL is the only one that still bothers to play actors over the age of 40.
Lawd Jesus! When Luna died...I cried so much. my cousin and I were on the phone, both sobbing LOL! And please don't bring up when Megan died! Uhg...i made myself sick I cried so much LOL! But that's what a good soap does. Well at least they used to.
Ah, the writer musical chairs of Leah Laiman, Margaret DePriest, and Craig Carlson. I believe this was after former head writer S. Michael Schnessel became ill (and ultimately passed away). Laiman really brought the storylines to their knees; she was just terrible. DePriest wasn't a good fit, and Carlson ended up being a bench warmer until a new regime (Gottlieb & Malone) arrived. But I think EP Paul Rauch's outlandish but mostly successful vision for OLTL really crashed and burned with Laiman.
About time. Anyone who's never heard this version of the theme song now gets a chance. (Though, of course, who could forget his one appearance on the show?)
I really love this song by Peabo Bryson and i miss those days and it bring back memory.

The lyrics are mediocre but the music and orchestration are beautiful and melodic...soaring and tuneful...nice!!

Sang Peabo, now you know that's talent. That should have been released as a single. Especially, the crap we have out today.

I didn't know Audrey Landers guest-starred on OLTL?
I always knew her and her sister Judy were some fine sisters back then!

She actually had a regular role on OLTL from 1990-1991 as Carlo Hesser's daughter, Charlotte.

that's why I saw her on the 1990-91 version of "Match Game," which was also on ABC at the time as well.

yeah those two deaths(Luna and Megan) were the saddest OLTL ever hosted.
