  • Uh..that music! It makes me dance like a dingleberry

  • This is real racing with a proper manual!! :)

  • Great racing!! What a challenge with all that slow traffic!

  • Ahhh..14.7 miles,112 curves. The most dangerous and demanding Road Racing circuit in the world...Nordschlife (or North Loop) at Nurburgring...So dangerous, that the FIA will not sanction any races on it, and they haven't sanctioned a F-1 race since 1976. Now it's mainly a play and test track, where those that drive on it only race against the clock.Anyone can drive on the North Loop, as long as Cars and Motorcyclists meet their basic safety requirements, and drivers follow local highway rules.

  • Amazing!

  • 8:50 wow, awesome overtaking

  • Thank you for the video.

  • magic helmet!!!

  • Why music? music it´s only the engine sound, oh man!

  • Complete with 80's tunes!

  • Now these guys are racing.

  • can someone pls interpret the commentary....great piece of skilled driving by both drivers especially when passing so many b/mk'ers and when u consider them driving w/ a tail heavy car equipped with only struts up front and the dreaded trailing arms in the back.

  • awesome car

but put music in a video like this is a nonsense, we can't hear 935 sound :(

  • IS THAT DEREK BELL DRIVING??

  • my dog is german

  • awesome pursuit

  • see mine at ring:

    /watch?v=lr-ui_OX4fg

  • I'm an American redneck and this is racing!! FUCK nascar, its died along time ago.....the fastest car and driver should win!!

  • @338lapsniper Hey I'm all for progress and I'm not much of a fan of circle track racing either but I'm pretty sure NASCAR cars are faster then this. As for group 5 being dissolved and ending this cars career it had to do with more then simply slowing things down on the track.

  • very nice....insane speed, I like it alot.

  • This is not a Porsche 935. It is a 930 Turbo that ran the VLN series back in the 80s.

  • I just had to watch this again. What an amazing video. Keep them coming Easy!!!

  • Imagine, to be that close to your opponent throughout the ENTIRE lap! AMAZING!!!

  • this thing's only a 4 speed??? crazy

  • these cars are fucking batshit crazy..... I WANT ONE

  • i almost pissed my pants watching the video lol...pro driving!

  • Fuckin' Loved it! Fuckin Great song, not to loud. Now That is how to drive, just a steering wheel and well in excess of 600hp at the rear wheels (probably 8-900 un-restricted) PLUS the super-direct 911 steering and all that Gargantuan turbo flat 6.

Enough to kill mere mortals, who is this god driving it like that!.

Just realized i saw this and commented on it b4, twas just like the first time..creamed my pants. Goddam!!

  • Every bloody race vid has to satisfy the nerdy anorak appetite. Can the shit music next time...

  • Driving masterpiece.. both pilots, especially on a vicious car like that...

    Thanks Easy007

  • Frickin' Awesome!!! 935 is a Legend and as we can see if well set up like this one is, can match corner for corner even the latest generation.

  • amazing car with an amazing driver !!!!

  • i see today once again this nice video..

the funniest day of this guy,

the best car 4 this track and the best track 4 this track no ABS no AIRBAG no TSC.just pure fun...

  • nice drive respect...

  • Another great video marginalized by music. People who watch videos of hot cars lapping tracks watch for the natural internal-combustion soundtrack. Leave the euro-disco for the Prague nightclubs.

That's ass-pucker fast, kids. Wrapping thumbs around a wheel like that makes me cringe, though.

  • Kann man irgendwo diese 80er Fahrstuhlmusik ausmachen? Der Porschesound ist doch Musik genug!

  • Damn scary driving those things at that speed on the 'ring with all those amateurs getting in the way !!

The flame is on the overun or upshifts caused by excess fuel igniting in the exhaust.

Anyone know what the red light is flickering on the dash to the right of the driver ?

  • thats nigel mansell, right?

  • Geniales Video...

  • I like that puff of fire when the turbos kick in

  • Nice movie, fitting music. :-)

    Thanks for sharing!

  • The racing is cool, but the music is highly annoying, I want to hear the engines scream!

  • funny thing: when i watched again, i suddenly had the (hopefully false :-D) impression that he was listening to the 80s trash disco music while driving. the volumes of engine and music fit perfectly, as if it was incar music ;-)

  • Nice to see the ol' 935 keeping up with the 993. From all accounts the 935 takes a lot of guts to drive at those speeds, especially with the gigantic single turbo.

  • there's no 993 involved. both cars are the same 935's built by DP Motorsport.

Google it and you'll find the makers site. Go to 'Gallerie' and then check 'Rennauto's'. You will there also find a picture of the Tokai Porsche driving in front

  • The Driver is Jürgen Oppermann, he's chasing his teammate Otto Altenbach. They are both german, not british.

  • @Vollhirni OH SORRY - YES MUST BE GERMANS!! IN A PORSCHE....LOL uk rules F1 AND ALL MOTORSPORT - DONT FORGET IT !

  • @pennypacker93 Nothing to feel sorry about, kiddo. I was simply making a statement. We will see what your own qualities as a motorsport-addict are in one of your next awesome and inspiring videos. When you have grown up and got a drivers licence. 2021. Till then: Go and play with your british matchbox-cars. Wanker. Oh, and that problem with your capital writing can be solved by disengaging caps- lock. Look it up sometime.

  • fuck yeh! straight cut gears!

  • Love Nigel helmet !

  • Is that a 993 GT3 he follows for the lap? I will admit I don't actually know if such a car exists, it just doesn't have the GT2's signature triangular wing intakes

  • no, hes following the exact type of car we can ride with... both cars are porsche 935 Turbos build by DP-Motorsport.

  • Best Nurburgring video on Youtube!!

Excellent driving... i liked the music part :-) old time disco...

one question: The gear box has 4 gears or 6 ??

  • i know 4

  • @Poludoros 4 geras exactly

  • That guy has nigel mansells helmet design? interesting...

  • judging by the song it may well be true

  • I tried to but I couldn't find any piece of information about Mansell driving sports cars. So, does anyone know who this guy is?

  • Accordingly to MoSponiac, the driver is Jürgen Oppermann (the guy with "Mansell's" helmet). Amazingly, despite of his name, he is British!

  • Actually, No. He's a well known german racedriver.

  • Ok, you are right! He is german indeed.

So, do you (or anyone here) know why his helmet shows the british flag?

  • i guess he is wearing a helmet that was not specially designed for him. maybe he just bought a mansell design, because he likes it?!

  • aside from this not being mansell, Nigel did race sports sedan briefly

  • A little busy steering. Not super lines.

  • Car is unstable. Some cars take different lines to others?

  • Different cars - defferent lines - as usual! This car is monster unstable - only a couple of driver were able to handle it! Power, more power, most power, 935!

  • much more Power 935 Turbo ;)

  • This car must be a challenge! He made a real good job in this turbo-rocket

  • What do you know any better?

  • Nice kill! It was almost like the 935 driver was caught off guard when the 996 GT2RSR(?) Maybe GT2 650 EVO (Lord help me,, I am guessing from just what I see) ,,anyway,, and when the 996 flew by him,, it was like he loved the chase,, the challenge. It was a busy day at The Ring. There were a lot of slower backmarquers. I knew that once he hit Döttinger Höhe it would,,, all be over!

DEAR GOD,,, I love Porsche's! ,,,deep down in my soul!

  • Huh, 996s were out in the '80s?

  • LOL - you guys are funny

  • What? Do you know your Porsche codes?

  • Porsche 996=1999-2004

You wrote: "Nice kill! It was almost like the 935 driver was caught off guard when the 996 GT2RSR(?)"

    and

"and when the 996 flew by him"

    Am I reading this wrong?

  • That was his team colleague with another 935.

  • wrong,

    it must be a GT2

  • In 1989 wasnt any GT2 car mate... ;-) Much, much, much, later...

  • GT2 in the year 1989 - really funny mate! 8)

  • ...oh well, you are right. I thought its a Video of a 935 "Turbo". That was confusing me :D

cause the rear wing and the body looks more like an GT2 than an 935 Turbo...

  • Thats a 993 mate.

  • Sorry mate, the Tokai 935's were build and driven in the late 80's - your car is one decade ahead... ,-)

TOKAI 935 rulez the wolrd !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Car that Overtakes at 1:28 is NOT a 935, its a 993. Can tell by the tail lights and the exhaust coming out from the middle, as seen by the backfire.

  • MoSponiac is right. Indeed it's a 930 Turbo of Tokai team. Try looking for it on internet and you will see he's right.

  • Nice video, pity about the insane 'music' drowning the glorious howl of the Porsche flat-six.

  • maybe that was in his radio... :D

  • I would crash if that thing went past me I'd be too busy staring going woooooooooow

  • Absolute quality!

I just knew he'd slipstream the other 935 along the final straight!

    ;o)

Not bad for a little, old 2.8 engine, is it?

  • Wow! That car eat other cars like for breakfast! Excellent!

  • they used the whole track in 1989...

  • VLN-track

  • The Porsche 935 is one of my favorites cars, excellent video, excellent car, excellente circuit !!!

  • I loved this video .. Really amazing!

    I like the music too.

  • @sorrowfr Accidental downvote, sorry :( This rocks!

  • @sorrowfr Upvoted

  • The track looks like such a handful. And very bumpy.

  • What the fuck is matter with people complaining about the music and insulting the guy who uploaded the vid???

Ok, so many dont like most soundtracks over the glorious howling race engine, including me. The uploader is obviously nostalgic about the era and the music cuts perfectly with a knowlegeable generation. Not every bloody race vid has to satisfy the nerdy anorak appetite! Be thankful for whatever, or upload your own vids, bunch of spoilt twits!

  • @Threeload in reply to that, i hate the music but at least i can still hear the engine unlike so many other vids....

  • @Threeload olny thing that really would bug me is if there was no engine noise, and only music.... i just wouldnt watch or comment or anything

  • @Threeload Well said mate!

  • 9 people drive priuses

  • @Threeload Have i been insulted somewhere? tbh i don't tend to read any comments on YT vids as a fair chunk seem to be written by complete buffoons. I didn't make the vid or add the music this is how i 'acquired' it some years back. If i had made the vid it wouldn't have had the music

  • The best part 8:40 on is just boooosssstttttt and then he looks over at the other guy as he passes him at about 250km/h.

    Awesome driving.

  • 2 Great drivers

  • the newer porsche is realy pushing to keep the 935 behind him

  • Both cars are 935's - driven in the same team. 8-)

  • If you watch it carefully, you will see the logo from the Tokai Team at the pilots helmet as well as on the other Porsche's tail.

Footage is from VLN season 1989. The driver with the cam inside is named Jürgen Oppermann, the other one in front Otto Altenbach. Beside the two guys in the 935 there wasnt any other team which could match the pace that season.

BTW: I bought the Original-DVD including onboard stuff from both guys. Believe me - BOTH guys are runnning 935 Bi-Turbo. :)

  • bi turbo = twin turbo

  • i thought BI turbo meant that there was a smaller for example a GT25 that was conected to the engine and that boost from the gt25 powered a t04 thats what i was told anyways

  • never mind i stand corrected mosponiac send the the pics of the porsche that passed the 935

  • Porsches and Nordschleife: There is a better combination?

    Amazing driving and footage!!

    6 stars.

  • what is the red light in cocpit?

  • Dont know, but could be turbo pressure.

  • When I watch that, I remember the "Moby Dick"...

  • Best vid on youtube....magnificent !

  • The CAR is the SOUNDTRACK!!

    Dumkopf!!

    J.C.

  • AMEN! I would have had the volume up louder if not for the music. Two of my favorite things, porsches and the nurburgring.

  • Incredible! Awesome demonstration of driving in the 935, even the quirky 70's disco track (Cerrone, Supernature?) seems to complement the idiosyncrasies of this phenomenal group 5 legend;) The only GT to trounce the prototypes emphatically at Le Mans in '79, until the Maclaren F1 turned up to repeat the feat 16 years later.

  • Magnificent, great car, very good driver, as u can see, little can compare

  • i loved every second of that, both amazingly quick ,great driving, especially throught so much traffic, but would like to know how much bhp,and considering it was both the new and old circuit...amazing.

  • The Tokai 935 were fitted with 650-750 HP, depending on the manifold pressure. In the dry there wasn't any other car which could pass among these monsters.

In the wet some RSR could keep the pace. To prepare the 935 for the Nordschleife, the car received a very soft suspension.

Not many drivers were able to push the 935 to the limit. This car was at least as strange as the Rally Audi S1.

  • thanks for that,il look it up..

  • Comment removed

  • If you like this stuff i prefer the DVD "Cockpit Spezial 2" from WB Video. You will find this footage (without music) and battles with some RSR in the wet . At the "Cockpit Spezial 1" you will find the Tokai Porsche's too.

  • Fantastic...Great to see a good old 935 challange the Ring. By the way, like the music.....maybe beause I´m a bit 80´s nostalgic ;)

  • Great but whats with the porn music lmao

  • this is madness!

    This. IS. PORSCHE!!!

  • Leck mich am arsch

  • Now why the hell would you play that 70's gay porn music over the engine sound? What a dick,.

  • How is called music?

  • Comment removed

  • thank you for posting this awesome video. lovely 935

  • i dont get all the complaints about the music. i think it matches :)

  • It matches alright. Still a lot of people, like myself, prefer not to have any music on racing videos. It's a fine vid never the less.

  • the music destroys the video

  • I love the 935 but I stopped watching the video 5 seconds into it because of the music...I want to here the TT flat-six not some asinine music.

  • No problem - catch vol.1 + vol 2. from WB Video...

  • Howl! Baby 935

  • EPIC!!

  • Incredible driving and footage!

  • Absolutely awesome. Imagine doing this for 24 hours!!!

  • Is that Mansell?!?!?!

    Awesome :D

  • Man that was AWESOME!

Those Moby Dicks looked sooo powerful and extremely dangerous, like handling on the edge at every single corner. Wheew!

  • For everyone who is interested in those cars, i recommend to watch "Cockpit Special 1" and "Cockpit Special 2" from WB Video. The 1st DVD contains this footage (without music)among other cool onboard stuff from the ring in the season 1989.

On the 2nd DVD you will find some awesome onboards laps from the Nordschleife, 935 in the dry and in the wet, RSR chasing BMW M1 and more. Quality ranges from average to very good.

  • Thanks for the tip. It's on my shopping list.

And another vote for no $%^$@%^@#$% music! 935s make their own.

  • dude he was fucking flying and another porsche passed him at like wtf speeds !, what was it

    another 935 ?

  • The other car was driven by his teammate Otto Altenbach in a second 935.

In the dry under normal conditions there wasnt any other competitive car (that VLN season) who could beat either of the two Tukai's. Certainly in the wet the massive power of these monsters became less important.

  • I always knew that the original 911 had a very basic front end suspension, yetwhen I see how ell they handle I have a new respect for what they have devloped. Truly an waesome car, especially when you look at how little body roll they have.

  • Wow! That pilot looked almost bored for some of the video. Music ruins it for me though, would have MUCH rather listened to the engine instead.

  • I don;t know about that, he seems to be fighting pretty hard to keep it under control.

  • The 935 really wasn't a driver's car, it was only about power and grip. The car was fitted with a 4-step-gearbox, about 200 kph in 2nd gear, lol.

This Porsche was a dog - strange rough handling and really hard to push it to the limit.

One reason were the huge bi-turbos build in these days, the torque went in quite suddenly. If the boost came up, the car went almost straight foreward like a rocket, lol. 8)

  • Yeah it looks like it, he has to lift off so much in many sections that are normally flat. I wonder they couldn't have used sequential turbos to help that out a little, suppose they didn';t have the technology then. Seems to have a fair amount of understeer followed by power oversteer.

  • What a great car this was.

  • sick - 935 one of the best ever. killer driving.

  • great relaxed driving..

  • mansell?

  • LoL. I thought it too.
