Donnie Yen is fast as fuck,., no doubt.. BUT.. movies now days they film at a slower speed, and then bring it to normal speed in the editing process, wich speeds up the fighting a bit more, where it looks fast, but not fast forwarded. He is still fast.. but Bruce Lee was the real deal.. but IMO Donnie Yen is the Modern day Bruce lee, he is the closest in marital arts, and wisdom that we have to bruce. but yet only 50% of what brice was.

The problem with Donnie Yen is his face & his unoriginality. He doesn't have the tough-looking face like Bruce & Jet do. His look is too baby-ish, & it's funny when he tries to act tough. Until Ip Man, Donnie couldn't seem to be himself. He mimicked Bruce too much, & it gets worse when he had to play a character Bruce once played. Ip Man is a movie that iconizes Donnie. I never became his fan until this movie, which is totally suited for him. As for speed, no one is faster than Bruce. Period.
Bruce Lee had to slow down just so the cameras could catch his strikes and in an interview Donnie Yen himself said he could never be as fast as Bruce Lee. Bruce punched in 5/100 of a second. People said his side kick felt like being punched by a car.
donnie was edited to go fast and bruce lee well he had to slow down for camera and is still fast and if you look closely in bruce lee they slowed him down little bit

I have listened to interviews with other fighters big and small. thugs and bruisers.
They all say Brue Lee was the fastest man they have every seen. Bruce also did real street fights so while others may have had more real tournament experience they all picked Bruce to win a real fight. He had the most real fight experience.

Look at Tommy Carruthers demonstrations (Bruce's student) on youtube and then ask Donnie to move that fast in real life (without camera preparations and cinematographical effects).
All fighting movies of today are filmed in slow motion and then artificially speeded up on the computer. At Bruce Lee's time there have been no such effects.

I agree with Dungarth. In fact, Jeet kune do is literally translated as "Way of the intercepting fist"...just goes to show how Bruce Lee reacted...infinitesmally faster and much before the launch of an opponent's attack.
Bruce Lee is very powerful and was one of the most talented fighting martial artists to ever be seen on camera. Donnie Yen however has a higher advantage on a skill presentation. I'm a super fan of both, but Donnie Yen has the same speed but less power, but more skill.
Though, both are Martial Art legends on/off screen, Donnie Yen is more talented imo.
Don't compare Bruce Lee to Donnie Yen, thats like comparing Muhammad Ali to David Haye.

Remember that Bruce HAD to slow very much down. Everybody says that in all interviews.
And since his death So many tried to overcome his speed in fighting in the movies.
But compared to Donnie Yen it is really a little hard to decide who is faster. But i think bruce lee.
In this scen from Donnie Yen, i think there are special effects. But Bruce Lee never used special effects as far as i know. :)

dude learn the history of martial art "crashpedo" his master, yip man didnt ever create win chun. win chun is created by a women in the dynasty times... look at national geographic. And bruce lee, he is famous for being fast. Both artist leaned win chun before too. - u can never tell .

Bruce lee... some moments were played in slow mo at bruce lee's movies so that the punches would be visibe, also bruce lee's training was much harder and we are talking about defferent times. Bruce had the best sensei. He created wing chun. All the martial arts movies begun from him and jackie chan as an influence. There is nothing to compare.

I would say Brue Lee was.
I have listened to interviews with other fighters big and small. thugs and bruisers.
They all say Brue Lee was the fastest man they have every seen. Bruce also did real street fights so while others may have had more real tournament experience they all picked Bruce to win a real fight. He had the most real fight experience.

poster obv doesnt know his stuff. films were slowed down to capture bruce's movements. i hate it when ppl compare martial artists by their movie footages, they obv duno shit abt fighting. look at bruce's demonstrations at Long Beach International Karate Championships. bruce lee can tell u where hes gona hit u, and u wont b able to block it, which he tried on a black belt karate practitioner and he failed to block it even tho given 3 tries. thats jus 1 example of wht he did there.

watch ali fights and practice for hours infront
of the mirror...you can especially see it in the
slow motion part of his fight with chuck norris

Look at Tommy Carruthers demonstrations (Bruce's student) on youtube and then ask Donnie to move that fast in real life (without camera preparations and cinematographical effects).
All fighting movies of today are filmed in slow motion and then artificially speeded up on the computer. At Bruce Lee's time there have been no such effects.

I agree with Dungarth. In fact, Jeet kune do is literally translated as "Way of the intercepting fist"...just goes to show how Bruce Lee reacted...infinitesmally faster and much before the launch of an opponent's attack.

Bruce Lee is very powerful and was one of the most talented fighting martial artists to ever be seen on camera. Donnie Yen however has a higher advantage on a skill presentation. I'm a super fan of both, but Donnie Yen has the same speed but less power, but more skill.
Though, both are Martial Art legends on/off screen, Donnie Yen is more talented imo.

Don't compare Bruce Lee to Donnie Yen, thats like comparing Muhammad Ali to David Haye.
Also Bruce didn't just train Wing-Chun Gung-fu he also studied Judo, Hapkido and European Boxing and used them all to create ''Jeet Kune Do'' to say that Bruce was just a gung-fu fighter is grossly incorrect, he was much much more than that.

Lees Strength as well as speed as well as an unpredictable and fresh "way" of fighting is still the greatest caught on camera ... Donnie Yen is an incredible martial artist - but so is Jacke Chan -.- to compare them to GrandMasterLee is just idiotic...Jackie has even gone on record sayn that Bruce was the Fastest thing he had ever seen in his whole Life(he was in FoF and EtD...in ways one might say Jackie is the Better actor out of them all but ...They all deserve respect..PS.Ip man is INSANE!!!

@SuperKingNova , It's obviouis bruce lee was quicker than tony jaa and donnie yen. If you compare jaa and donnie yen, I would say that Jaa is more powerful specially with his kicks and knees, and donnie yen I think is a little bit faster with his hands. Anyway both are extremely skills fighters.
