Some people find it hard to speak sometimes, especially in situations where they feel like everyone is watching them (I know I do). Now, he's obviously not actually in front of a crowd here but maybe he still feels the tension of knowing that he is being watched if he wins. I can tell that both Harrison Ford and Joaquin, two of the best actors, do not like interviews and attention. But that doesn't make them weird, it's just their personality.
