What the HELL is wrong with the crowd? John's like "It's called my sweet lord" and about two people react. I would have just about lost my shit if I was there.
Jesus taught vedic religion.. e.g. christianity recycled krishna conciousness/hinduism.. most religions have.. just as hinduism/krisna conciousness is just recycled sun worship from egypt.
think of krishna as a blue jesus, and you pretty much know the whole story. virgin birth, yada yada. it's all the time.

and I say, it's all right! Amen! George Harrison's god is not the Lord God Jesus, George is singing to his god Lucifer in this song called 'MY SWEET LORD.' Sad fact.
@iamvegito. Krishna is another name for Lucifer (the Devil). Please research this shocking fact.
"And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, (the evil beast) whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world." ~HOLY BIBLE Revelations 13:7-8~
@TruthTeller878 get a life u r the tru luckifer, let the earth enjoy peace and love as it naturally occurs. You my sir are a weed upon earth trying to supplant your negative, shameful and judgemental thrath upon the good and evil on this earth. I say good luck to turning the bad to good, but leave us good to enjoy our loving music in peace, f.. off u deceiver!
...he probably omitted the "Hare Krishna" because he doesn't believe in Krishna. It's a cover..I don't think that covers are meant to be exact copies of the original. artists should put their own spin. I bet you if the song had been written about Jesus, and he decided not to sing the part that mentions Jesus's name, none of you would call him out on it. instead, you would respect his personal beliefs.
@carolineairoline Ah, but the song WAS written about Jesus - a brief bit of research will show that the original was written as a way to amalgamate gospel singing and the maha-mantra (Hare Krsna). Krsna devotees regard Jesus as an incarnation of God, as they believe Krsna is. Hallelujah is similar in meaning to the mantra, so John Mayer (whom I adore) did sort of sing the HK bit. God is God, regardless of the religion one practises, and that was George's intention when he wrote the song.
Krishna devotees don't believe Jesus was an incarnation of God like Krishna, they believe there is one god, Krishna, and that Jesus was an avatar of Krishna.
Whatever, dude. A fact is a fact. It is a central tenant of the International Society of Krishna Consciousness, of which Harrison was a devotee, that there is one god Krishna, of whom there have been many avatars including Jesus. ISOKC differs from hinduism in this way, the belief in one god, Krishna.
Leaving out the "Hare Krishna" part is almost offensive to all what George Harrison stood for. He was an enlightend being that know God has many names and that theres only one divine reality behind the material world, despite the difference in the interpretation of the spiritual dimensions
Yeah...is oKAY but there really is somethin dreadfully 'lacking' with this rendition...i think it's a melange of 'feeling' and well, dare i say it (hell YES i'll say it,LoL!!) a certain 'spiritual' paucity that just aint there!!It's one thing to revere a track/someones work etc...but a WHOLE other 'ballgame' when it comes to showing you love something/some track by doin a 'tribute' version yourself,as you'd better be able to translate that admiration you feel, otherwise it comes out like this:DIRE

I agree with the comments that his voice lacks the feeling of yearning that George Harrison puts into the song. John Mayer is playing the song because he likes the song as many people do, while George Harrison wrote and sings it with real conviction because he feels a strong yearning to be closer to the lord.
@bluebeardic He's not trying to sound exactly like George, that would be wrong. I think he really does the song justice as it's a very risky song to cover. It just works. Amazing performance.

He's singing to Krishna. Jesus was Christ conscious just as Krishna was. Both are God. As are you, mind.
Hare Krishna.

No, it's not. "Christ" and "Krishna" have been proven to have a similar root word in the ancient Indo-European language. Is Christ Lucifer, then?
