  • You'd better to change your mouthpiece =)))

  • @PolzovatelDebosheer it was the mouthpiece that I was selling with the horn. I typically use a Gold Ottolink Supertone master 4c P.S -A Smiley with more than one mouth is creepy. If super happy is what your trying to communicate then try :D

  • I have got the same saxophone. I´m using a standard Selmer mouthpiece with mine. Gives a great intonation. Better than with the mouthpiece, that came with it, which is a little too difficult to control when playing in piano. The only thing that bothers me, is that the high #F button is missing, which comes on the newer models. But all in all, a great saxophone, man :)

  • Selmer III FTW

  • song for my father =)

  • Good horn.

    I used to own it.

  • you played beautifuly :)

  • I still have mine. It's a great back up horn. I just change the mouthpiece. I'm using a Meyer 5 and sometimes a Beechler 7. It sounds much better.

  • It was given to me as my 1st horn in 5th grade. I think my parents paid somewhere around $300-$400 for it. I ended up selling it for a little over $300 after ten years of playing it.

  • @CoJaFlow cheap student saxophone eh?.... after 10 years of playing it and you make it sound amazing! wish i could do that with my cheap tenor :P

  • @i0nPuNk182 Thank you, very much. How long have you been playing and what model tenor do you have? From waht I understand the only REAL difference between a cheap yamaha or a cheap selmer and an expensive yamaha or selmer is the time taken to make sure that the pads sit flat and create a complete seal. Yeah there are different resonators and materials, but if your pads sit flat, that see,s to be a bigger deal.

  • @CoJaFlow I also found that my sound got better after using the metal mouthpiece for sometime. It was harder to use at first but made my embouchure stronger so that when I played the other mouthpieces I had more control. Also overtones and practice will get you there.

  • @CoJaFlow yeah im just the typical high school kid who has been playing for almost 8 years... I've been recently practicing overtones, vibratos, improv solos, and different scales for improvising. I have a Cecilia Tenor that i bought from ebay back when i was in 6th grade lol. But i also have an old Martin Tenor that just needs to be re-padded and re-lacquered, but im first trying to save up for it to be re-padded, unless you recommend that i get both done at once xD

  • @i0nPuNk182 forget laquer, My old teacher (dave kana..probably one of the top ten tenor players in Ohio) told me about a guy we was in a jazz band with that was trying to take the laquer off a brand new bari with paint thinner to get that old sound. That dude was nuts, but those old Martins dont need to look pretty, just sound good.

  • @CoJaFlow yep couldn't agree more, thanks!

  • @CoJaFlow I also hope in the near future that I start experimenting with different mouthpieces, especially with metal mouthpieces

  • what mouthpiece are using?

  • The mouthpiece came with the horn, and it was sold with the horn. It was a Yamaha 4C and played very nice and easy. I would recommend it for beginners at least. But for the last 4 years I have used a Metal Otto Link Super Tone Master.

  • how much your YAMAHA YAS23?
