As much as I know, it was done by non-Muslim Swiss as a protest against violation of freedom of expression after Adhan got banned in Switzerland. And, as I can see in the comments, the undertaking is very much appreciated by us, Muslims. However when a gay parade is conducted in any of Muslim countries, reaction of Muslims is outrageously aggressive. So what, secularist can't ban Adhan, but a Muslim can ban gay parade??

Muslims are then instructed to tell the other groups that they believe in what is revealed to the jews and christians, and themselves, and that the God they believe is one in the same (the Quran says Allah which is just the Arabic word for "God"). The only differences are in God's nature (1 or 3 etc etc)

They only had to use Allah in the bible because it's their language, and they use "Al-'Ab" or "Abna" just as often (the father/our father). Muhammad's grandfather (who did believe in Allah) lived in the 6th Century AD, Sumer existed 6000-3000 BC, long before Allah/Elohim or any other semitic word. Interestingly, jesus called upon god as Alaha in his native aramaic.
