  • Van Halen is spot on. AC/DC is pretty damn close. The high gain and 80s shred settings sound great. However, the SRV isn't even close. The Hendrix is closer but that just doesn't seem to be your style.

  • AC DC AND VAN HALEN KICKASS

  • AWESOME TONES!!..butthe playing doesn't sound like Malmsteen

  • @miyavizim I can only dream of playing like malmsteen!

  • PERFECT PERFECT ALL TONES, BUT I LOVE AC DC'S TONE AND VAN HALEN TONE

  • old school van halen, i like it!!

  • good stuff man. what pickup do you have installed in your custom van halen guitar?? I saw a Seymour Duncan logo, but what model is it?

  • ok....you are not only the tone master....but an excellent guitartist ....thank you for the vid....

  • Srv needs to have fender amp at least

  • I can hear you dont actually play srv and hendrix alot... Their styles are way different then yours. And the tones wel cool but not close enug

  • damn, dude...GREAT STUFF.

  • WTF? Are those all your guitars?

  • @highintel Ive got 30 all up :S

  • Man...this...is...INSANE!!!! I posted a vid on my page when I tried to replicate the VH1 and 2 phaser and reverb-heavy tone (a-la-"Brown Sound") with my iPhone amplitube app...it got close, but, obviously, there's nothing like the original :D!!! KEEP ON ROCKIN'!!!!!!

  • Still my FAVORITE Youtube video for amazing tones!*****You rock Paul, and this upload's incredible. The ultimate collection of gear bro. Keep rockin'!

  • You can play the shit out of a guitar. But your SRV tone is wayyyyy off.

  • WTF happened to ur hair in the 80's shred tone?

  • rich cunts

  • @w0rdisbond poor fucks

  • @CharlesTeeVee yeah im broke, theres no way around that one. are you runnnig a succesfull business that makes you a lot of money or where you kind of born into it?

  • @w0rdisbond a little of the both...

  • @CharlesTeeVee okay, then, enjoy.

  • @w0rdisbond Cheers!

  • What marshall are you using for evh tone? Thanks!

  • Haha. "Marshall Amp EVERYTHING ON 10."

  • Bro cool playing man!! Would like to find out wats the eq settings for the malmsteen model? Thanks alot!!

  • Paul, for the EVH are you using the effects in front or in the loop? Sounds great!!

  • Great tones Paul and those Bray mods are killer!!

  • are you using a master volume on the vh tone? pretty nice gain, but it would probably be balls on if you ran it into a loadbox to feed those effects

  • what type of guitar you use for SRV is it the signature strat...?

  • Awesome tones man! What kind of pickup do you have in the 5150 replica? Thanks!

  • Your VH tone is gettin pretty close but check out the Rockstah mod 5. Its dead on VH1 tone.

  • Most excellent

  • MX AAH FLANGER!

  • Van Halen and SRV tones are my favorite.

  • oh my god, Hendrix is WOW. i want that lol.

  • acdc, just a little less distortion dude

  • I shat brix with the VH and the YJM tones

  • damn, the VH tone was killer! I think your tone is a bit fatter in the mids, though, but that's cool.

  • @Thazzmaname cheers

  • Hey Paul, how do you like that Space Echo? I'm thinking about getting one and yours sounds great here. Would you recommend for some reverb/delay VH I type tones? I figure yes but wanted your opinion. I've read it adds a little phase to the signal, have you found that to be true?

  • @indeedido its good for delay but VH1 just needs a slapback mostly so almost any delay pedal will do. The studio plate reverb and early reflections of that reverb is what makes the VH1 ambience so slick. The boss re20 does some really nice tape delays and sounds bang on the original, however it prefers its own power supply or else it makes a loud whirring noise. A little phase, but not like the chorus on the carbon copy for example.

  • You're a great player, with a great Sound.

    But sorry, you won't copy Hendrix-(sounds) ;-)

    No one can do that!

  • Hendrix needs a little more bass...

  • For ACDC i suggest an orange amp they kick ass

  • Great brown sound dude - very nicely done.

  • Awesome playing and tones. Are your speakers the 25 watt or 30 watt greenbacks?

  • the lick at 2:01 is awsome love the voicing in it teach me it! _:P

  • Oh, you MONSTER!

  • well done i really enjoyed that video

  • You gave me the info about the amp setting:

    Bass :5 Mid: 4 Treble: 6 and the Volumes : 10

... But how much is the gain?? gain 1-10??

  • @1337Atian The 'volumes' or loudness knobs are the gain controls on a plexi. For this clip I had them set at 10 but I was going through the normal channel (less distortion) and using an MXR EQ pedal(more distortion). Without EQ pedal I would go through the bright channel (more distortion) and have that anywhere from 6-10 for each loudness/volume/gain depending on pickup and have amp EQ set at b:4, mid:10, treble: 9.

  • Everything on 10 on the PLEXI and you say this is at bedroom volume? How in the world could that be? More like kill your neighbors down the street volume.

  • @yjmsrv I have a PPI master volume installed that's set low - the two channel volumes on the front are at ten, meaning the gain is maxed. EQ and pres almost maxed too. I wouldn't sit that close to the amp if the PPI master volume was on full!

  • OK, what 2 jackasses said they didn't like this?

  • @msgscout007 Neighbors, one each side.

  • great tones! I wish there was 1 amp that could do all those tones, I don't want my bedroom loaded to the brim with amps like you :)

  • @satjathamma The JSX could cover most of those tones

  • can you get a similar vh tone of the jsx because its cheaper than the pplexi want to play van halen ozzy gunsect ? thanks

  • @12345678ix Yes no bad - check out my video of aint talking bout love - it is using the JSX amp. Cheers

  • @paulscape72 so it can get close to the tone u got with the plexi if i use the same effects and the 10 band eq

  • Is that marshall a 1987x head?

  • Nice van halen sound ^^

  • Absolutely amazing! You nailed every tone exactly. Also you are a very well rounded player, adapt at playing a variety of styles.

  • What pickups are in your straocaster on this video?

  • no the song with the phaser at like maybe 2;37 or 2;38

  • man what was the name of the song at 2:38? i like the vid

  • @icemanbenito At 2:38 he played "Hot for Teacher" by Van Halen.

  • @Alu122112211221 Actually, it's "Unchained".

  • You impressed me with the Van Halen tone!

  • can you tell us the amp settings for all of them? Much appreciated

  • way too much distortion for AC/DC

  • @jrpimpdog yes

  • @jrpimpdog i agree with you, thats really too much distortion

  • awesome tone!! what kind of speakers are you using in the cab?

  • your hendrix playing could've been much neater and the tone is it like idk..... but i love the tone for SRV and Van Halen

  • @FreaquedeMusique yeah too much gain on the hendrix and I haven't played any hendrix riffs in ages

  • damn you are good...

  • When you said everything on 10 for EVH, did you really set that on the head? Could you provide settings please? Thats the sound im looking for and you did an amazing job

  • I love this upload! Finally came to the conclusion that it's perhaps my favorite guitar-tone video on Youtube, hands-down...great job! Put it at the top of my channel's favorites list of guitar tone & inspiration. Rock on Paul, awesome vids!

  • Amazing tones!! I´m buying a plexi tubeamp by a handmade here in Brazil, with the same characteres then yours. Did you used an attenuator to get that EVH's tone, or you puted all eq knobs on max and controls the master volume by your taste?

    Awsome playng to, congrats!

  • really nice setup and tones you get

  • OH SHIT!!!!! VAN HALEN TONE IS AMAZING

  • Sounding really nice!!!

  • whats with the xbox 360 steering wheel in the back lol.

  • Great job capturing the tones of these legendary heroes! We both share a passion for the tones of Van Halen, Hendrix & SRV (albiet I just use a wolfgang, strat, 5150ii & a small selection of pedals). Love your gear too...very nice! Check out my vids when you get a chance. Rock on man!!

  • play the lead to blackmore,s rainbow,s ,,,black masquerade,,haha, or deep purples burn,,note for note,,come on ,, to be really good is to cover many styles, an many speeds too, with blues, an classic influence, thats why blackmore is best in all history ,,easily,,ya sound good though..srv, is wonderful, an to hold a note with a tone like billy gibbons an that expandora crunch..

  • @flyfish777 burn is an awesome song - never learnt it...maybe i should!

  • @paulscape72 it's worth learning. It's one of those songs that just lets you go a bit wild and is very intuitive to play.

  • dude this is awesome

  • I don't know you...but I'm very happy for you!

Your definetely a talented guitar player...and you got a fantastic collection of Gear at your disposal!

    great vid!

    Take care

  • You are very talented and have the exact same influences as I do. You nailed the tones quite well.. but its tough to make the tone changes if you are in a band playing live. I switch from Van Halen to SRV to Hendrix to AC/DC in my band, just using my pedal board (and different pup switching) and its close, but not as close as this demo. I am using a Peavey 6505+ through a JSX cab. Your 5150 axe is nice.

  • I have to do the same - I use the Elmwood Modena90 live/rehearsal and a handful of pedals. The Elmwood is fantastic for switching and boosting!

  • Great collection of gear! I'm a Satch fan so I have the JSX 212 and a JS2000, so I'm wondering if you can provide JSX setting recommendations to get the modern Satch lead tone? Great vid...Cheers!

  • Not sure about Satch but on ultra I have it bass: 5, mid: 3, treble: 3, noise gate: 6, preamp vol: 3, gain: 8, master vol: 3-4, res: 5, pres: 4 on half power at the moment. Sort of depends on what guitars Im using. Cheers, Id love to have a JS2000, they are great playing guitars!

  • Thanks man!

  • Comment removed

  • mate.....love the tunes, the guitars and the gear!!!!..crazy man!...crazy!!!

ps...up there in shangas soon!!..i hope

  • you got a lot of great gear, and nailed a bunch of the tones, but for the the van halen tone, you are missing the loads of reverb that make it huge.

  • Ay,Paul

Good to hear from you again.

Nice vid, I'm gonna apply some of these settings with my Peavey JSX Combo.

Can't wait to see how they sound with it.

  • SRV tone sounded incredible, thats the tone ive been using (well tryin to) lol

    awesome vid 5 stars

  • nice video bro......its been a while we miss your videos man

  • A bit too much overdrive for acdc tone, but the others were perfect! You got a bunch of awesome gear!

  • You're right, the plexi volumes should have been around 6 - I keep forgetting how high the '61SG's pickup output is

  • for the AC/DC tone:

is that an original plexi or the reissue?

bray modded? like with a mastervolume or how did you achieve bedroom level?

damn i want that amp. also that guitar ^^

  • Yes it's Bray mod1 with the PPI master (on the back of the amp) about as low as it can go. Sounds brilliant when dimed!

  • Oh and its the re-issue
