Obama's 1st and 2nd year... and *way higher* than the Carter years... There was the recession 1982... and the fact the deficit rose from 60 billion to 220 billion between 1980 and 1986 under Reagan. Debt fell under Carter, Democrats in control of House and Senate.

I think the early 80s recession was so rough because the Fed was strengthening the dollar by restricting it.
The spend thrifts in Congress had no faith in Reagan's vision, and they were the ones who wanted to force a tax hike.

@sixletter Slightly misleading history lesson... The unemployment rate was 9.71 and 9.60% during Reagan's 2nd and 3rd year in office... a bit higher than Pres. Obama's 1st and 2nd year... and *way higher* than the Carter years... There was the recession 1982... and the fact the deficit rose from 60 billion to 220 billion between 1980 and 1986 under Reagan. Debt fell under Carter, Democrats in control of House and Senate.

hey, I was pretty young during the Carter years, but I remember them as difficult, but please what the fuck has Obama got to do with Carter. Sure Carter didn't do a very good job, but compared to Bush II and even Bush I ? Hey, he was teriffic. Obama is the future, and he should be compared more with Illinois born former Pres. Jimmy Carter had the right idea - Get off the dependence on foreign oil. Too bad only now is Bush waking up to it. Carter's dis-approval rating were never as low as Bush's. The Federal Reserve cranked up interest rate - something that Carter had no control over. Reagan negotiated with Iran over the hostages while Carter was still President.
It makes you wonder which side are Republicans on.

You might want to check out an area of California named Livermore. Drive just north and you will find yourself in the middle of a Wind farm as far as the eye can see. Know what else is there? Absolutely nothing. The construction of the farm destroyed everything in it's path, the blades continually kill thousands of migrating birds, and the land value has dropped by 78%

What do pics of nuke plants have to do with the Oil embargo?
How about the fact that we haven't built any nuke plants or oil refineries in over 30 years? Then there are our oil shale reserves we can't touch and the ban on oil drilling - all courtesy of the enviro-wackos among the Dems. Just like Carter, Obama will be a disaster for us.

We haven't built any because it wasn't in the best interest of oil or coal. And it is the interests that run the show here. Yes, it amazes me that we have air craft carriers and subs that don't have to be fueled for 50 years! and we don't have that tech in mainstream. We have over unity devices, free energy etc. and your pals see to it that it never becomes commercially viable. And by the way, those wacky enviro groups anti nuke groups were covertly funded by oil cartels back in the 1960's
