If you are right handed and try this shot forehand you will find that you need to stand at an odd angle and position in the serving box to carry out the serve.
it trows your opponent off. if you can serve 10 different shots forehand, then you have 10 different shots backhand. keeping your opponent guessing is paramount.
any variation you can pull can confuse your opponent and put you into better position. if you play someone that has the same serve ever time, you learn to expect where the ball is coming from...if your opponent mixes it up, you are at a loss for where the ball may be going.....switching roles, if you are the one mixing it up, you can do the confusion and placing your opponent on their toes...you may even catch then completely off guard for an easy point :)
Why serve it backhand? Why not do the same thing with the forehand?
