  • it is in anime "Major"

  • 磯部ww

  • homerun!!!

  • The pitch does exist, but it is of no use in baseball. The gyroball is spinning like a football along the axis where the ball is mocing. This does almost nothing to a baseball. It's a nothing pitch. However, the pitch is effective after it bounces off the ground, known as "googely" in cricket. The only reason this pitch would get a batter out is if the rotation of the ball were to fool the batter to believing it was going to curve. Hence, pitchers can get outs with this 'nothing pitch'

  • @CincyWiffler27 yes it does have use, ive pitched it and all the catchers say its hard for them to even catch because it dips hard at the last second

  • @12ViperPilot then you aren't throwing a gyroball..

  • @12ViperPilot A gyroball is stable, it doesn't dip. It flies straight like a football.

  • @SavageGreywolf and you know how? you have either never seen it/thrown it in person or u have and u werent throwing it right. if u get the correct spin on it it is a very good pitch

  • gyroball dont exist dude

  • Great Guy! But his pitching is hit or miss.... either 7innings 3 hits .. or 3innings 7 runs.

  • @GSKellyBEAST6 im not saying he is a bad pitcher he is obviously good if he is a pro he just hasnt been sucessful in america he a one good year in 07 and that was it

  • obviously a slider

  • thats amazing too bad he sucks in america

  • @tylergadna012 oo you fuck up sike naw he's ok

  • @MrEAZYKUSH his rookie year was his only good season and hes had like 2 or 3 surgerys he shood just retire he did mad nice in japan but not as good over in america

  • that a real GYROBALL >>> STRIKE OUT !!!

  • the ball spins forward? amazing........

  • @zcalbert777 no, it's spinning sideways like a cutter or a slider.

Nothing special with this pitch. He admitted he doesn't really know how to throw it.

  • I really like how you cant see the actual pitch.

  • *Clears throat* I didn't see it.

  • this dude gets rocked all the time. he sucks cock like his mother and father.

  • i dont know, i throw a gyroball but it certainly doesnt move like a slider, i did throw one once that moved like a slider, but i had gripped the ball closer to a curve ball grip, so, it could possible if thrown at the right angle, cause the ball to move like a slider (that or the one o threw turned into a curve ball somehow) anyways, i dont consider a gyroball a breaking ball, i honeslty consider it a variation of the fastball, but thats just me

  • i find it odd that if you throw it basically like a football, then it moves like a slider, think about it, the seams are rotating to where it creates LESS air resistance, so why would it have the same movement as a slider? more or less, you think it would be like a fastball, but wouldn't drop because it doesnt have the back spin of a normal 4 seam fastball. i think that either people have the gyroball confused, or there are 2 different types of a gyroball (which, i doubt)

  • i dont understand whats so great about this. someone explain plz

  • @jesusthescarecrow no rotation on the ball

  • @jesusthescarecrow The ball travels like a fastball but it spins like a bullet. If you think it's easy go and throw a ball with spin, it'll curve n shit right? ;)

  • @crazyaznguy2014 if you do look at high-speed videos of a gyroball, people do cut through the inner third of the ball with pronation

  • scary pop up ahhhhhhhhhhh

    jk

  • Japan must have bad TV's

  • a lot of people throw the gyro by accident its basically thrown like a slider but with a different spin

  • strike

  • I just came inside of a kitten.

    :)

  • @PlacentaPudding Eeew! Bestiality jailbait.

  • I coach a little league team and one of my pitchers as a release that is somewhere between overhand and sidearm, but no quite a 3/4 release. His "fastball" breaks 4-8 inches at the plate because his wrist snaps in (towards his chest) instead of down like a typical overhand delivery. The ball rotates like this pitch, but it doesn't put any strain on him because it is his most basic pitch.

  • @trojanhorse3745 you are literally retarded.. that kids arm is gonna fall off

  • @jperrin99 You are literally retarded. I didn't teach the kid how to throw that way. It's his natural motion. He doesn't snap his elbow or his shoulder like Daisuke, he just pronates his wrist. It's an overhand delivery with side spin. We've looked at it frame-by-frame, he's not doing anything crazy with his arm. So you sir, can go fuck yourself.

  • The Gyroball is magical!

  • It's a shame we can't see it

  • I hear yoshida eri throws a gyroball.

check out "Eri Yoshida's fastball" which is on my channel.

  • That's just a two seam fastball. Sorry.

  • Comment removed

  • @agiambrone Your a dumbass.

  • @agiambrone lol no. it didnt even break in the same direction as a two seam does. and a two seam is throw like a fastball. he didnt throw that like a fastball. look close next time.

  • For the one they said that it's looks like it's rising it is because it's an optical illusion because the gyroball that does not loss velocity during flight is going straight to the catcher unlike most of regular backspin that's dropped a little because of the spin is loosing when it comes to the catcher.

  • Backspin of a pitched baseball slows down about 1 mph every 7 feet after it leaves the pitcher's hand, that's a loss of roughly 8 mph by the time it crosses the plate but,the Gyroball rotates like a bullet, lowering air resistance and allowing the ball to be thrown without loss of velocity during flight. For the batter, such a pitch is more difficult to hit than a regular fastball since it looks like it's rising as it approaches.

  • its all physics. if you know physics and the way high and low preasures work, anyone can see all pitches except for a knuckleball are related in someway. what makes this pitch different is where the axis of rotation occurs. tilt it up and back one way, it becomes a curveball or slider, the other way and it becomes a screwball.

  • Watch the anime major it's a baseball anime it's really good there are 5 seasons

  • can someone tell me the big deal about this?

  • That is a sick gyroball, look at how many rotations it had...

I love this pitch, upon release and first part of it's flight the pitch appears to be a regular fastball to the batter, but as it approaches the plate it 'seems' like it speeds up and actually starts rising.

It's hard to swing at since it's usually right on pace with the pitchers fastball speed, but the illusion can often instead of giving a 'rising' can just seem he is throwing it much faster than before.

  • I've heard the whole idea of the gyroball is to create an optical illusion for the batter, according to the inventor of the pitch it looks like the ball is falling, when it actually drops less than a regular fastball. or so he claims.

  • it should be called the sushi ball lol

  • it looks like he throws it just like a football and it has a football spin to it im gona try this out

  • @jow

Thats exactly what a gyroball is.

  • AMAZING!!!!¿

  • sounds delicious.

  • It is correct and a gyroball.

  • Great camera angle. This is a gyro ball.

A gyro ball is a straight pitch, like a fastball. The effectiveness comes in the spin, as it is impossible for the hitter to read the pitch.

  • great camera angel

  • there goes my comment ^_^

  • yea and i'm santa claus what u want for christmas

  • its a circ change motion...

  • i think its just a cutter... with some extra movement

  • nah gryo ball

  • it has the same movement as a cutter

  • it doeas but just the way you hold it is differently and you twist your wrist on a gyro ball my next door neighbor used to play professional bnaseball and he showed me how to throw a gyroball

  • you're both wrong it's a slider and the real gyroball isnt supposed to move only sink a little

  • its a gryoball i used to throw one a pro pitcher taught me how to throw it

  • Gyroball isn't suppose to sink either... It looks like it's sinking but its actually raising.. a gyro ball spins in a clockwise or counter clockwise motion. The video is slowed mo so you can see that affect. Sink, move or raise, whatever it is... if it spins like that its a gyroball...

  • It can't rise... only a knuckle ball can rise...

  • actually, you can make the ball rise by a small ammount. and a knuckle ball pretty much just quakes.

  • Actually it cant rise. The ball cant make enough upward force to raise it.

  • Comment removed

  • @ robbyperez it's impossible to throw a rising pitch

  • no its not. rising fastball is thrown sometimes like a 2 seam

  • none of u nigs r even close. u throw it like a 4 seam wile puttin in sum curveball action on ur elbow. i played wit dice-k he told me how to throw it

  • well i dont believe u about playing with dice-k... but ur kinda right about the pitch

  • oh really whats ur name dice k is comin to the stadium i work at ill ask him after the game...i work with the nationals AAA team the chiefs

  • no way... i work at the AA team for the royals!

  • small world... ill reply after im done i have to set up for the food

  • that sux... im the bench coach. i wish the season was still going

  • i know the players are so cool to meet...and cleaning up is terrible lol

  • Daisuke doesnt throw a gyroball, he accidenltly threw this one while trying a cutter. he said so himself after the game. oh and look at the finger placement

  • lol i threw something like this in a game and the kid jumped out and it landed right in the middle of the plate then i threw it aain and the kid was all over it and struk out and everyone was luaghing im 11 lol

  • i've heard that baseballs are wound a litle tighter than baseballs used in the US, so they're a little smaller, and the seams are higher, so their is more movement, so that may have something to do with it, i dont know

  • Comment removed

  • dude it didnt break and it is supposed tyo act like a screwball

  • dam typos, ok clarification, no break and yes screwball lol. it doesnt make sense

  • this is a mis-thrown slider. i can do it too. actually read up on the gyro before assuming a pitch is it.

  • it looks like a fastball given a little bit of a spin to the side

  • looks like a screwball to me that cant be good for your wrist

  • not even close, you throw it like a football but like a two seem fast ball or 4...

  • really the only reason the batters get fooled and cant hit it is because that dont see the stiches and dont know what kind of speed or break it will have in it.....i love this pitch

  • Comment removed

  • looks like a circle change that keeps its speed

  • it looks like a slider with an awkward release

  • he comes off of it the same way i do for my 2 seam...

  • its a screw ball back door.. get over it.. dice k blows

  • gyroball

  • yep

  • its a back-door slider or a screwball

  • gyroball

  • I think it's a gyroball. Every pitch seems to invented in america except two in japan. And the gyroball is thrown like a football, not a baseball. (so.. it's kinda odd that the japanese figured applying a football throw to a baseball... but whatever.)

What I don't think... is that it's better than every pitch out there. It's really cool... yes. Is it useful? It's got to be, as kids in japan are practicing it every day. Historical shutouts never needed a gyroball. Maybe it's tomorrows.

  • just to let u guys know....he threw it by accident, it wuz supposed to be a curve

  • That was not supposed to be a curve. You snap your wrist the other way on a curve. I don't think it's possible to just accidently turn your wrist the wrong way.

  • in the gyroball, theres no movement in da wrist (well on some diffrent versions of throwing it there) Daisuke changed his wind up posture by cocking his arm on da release a little bit backwards)and bringing his head signifigantly low afta da release

  • in the gyroball, theres no movement in da wrist (well on some diffrent versions of throwing it there) Daisuke changed his wind up posture by cocking his arm on da release a little bit backwards)and bringing his head signifigantly low afta da release

  • What are you talking about? His wrist clearly moves in this video, and in the opposite direction it would if he threw a slider. That's why people are calling it a screwball. And bringing his head lower has nothing to do with the pitch type. Any pitcher worth anything would not change their windup for different pitches. The key to being a successful pitcher is repeating your delivery. And typing like that makes you sound like a fucking idiot.

  • don't type like that. It is just weird.

  • It's a slider that "slides" the opposite way of a normal slider. Since Dice-K is a righty, a slider would normally start on the right and break left. This pitch starts left and breaks right. Most normally, it's called a Screwball.

  • A really fast screwball but yes you are correct

  • it doesn't have anything special about it the pitch is a slider

  • it has the spin of a slider

  • *mouth open* huh what?

  • the motion of the ball and it's seams looks like a gyro ball but i leared to throw it a different way

  • Description.... How the FUCK is this defying physics???

  • oh yea also its a throw that changes direction last minute cuz of its center of gravity or something

    iono

  • The gyroscopic rotation gives the ball a more aerodynamic flight. This spin doesn't make the ball slide neither way, it actually lacks in lift as the rotation doesn't fight gravity.

When thrown well it's a sinker, when thrown with an angle, it becomes either a cruveball or a screwball depending on which side you bent.

Actually, he didn't practice it. It happened to come out like this. Does he uses it consistanty? No. Why then if it's so efficient? Why to keep an unuseful secret, secret?

  • this video has a horrible camera angle,

the pitch goes straight and at the very end it goes far away and its a pretty fast pitch

    look for Matsuzaka Supposed Gyroball

  • what the eff are Trout n Alex talking about???? I'm watching a pretty sweet clip of Dice's Gyro and there arguing about England, Mexico, Portugal, and killing Native Americans....Dude, aren't there chat-rooms for that stuff. Anyways; sweet clip

  • hahah what a bunch of nerds

  • i know.. wtf.

  • i know eh? dudes should get lives and watch baseball instead of talking about other stuff...im getting off-topic. DAM THAT WAS....i dunno...

  • Hey look! Its a tight spinning overrated Slider. Sheesh, hype nowadays over anything is so easy to generate.

  • perfect

  • In america we call a gyro a shitty screwball. can't wait til people understand thats all it is. there is many ways to hold it for the same result.

  • it's defintely a gyroball i will try to explain: to get a gyroball movement you wel have to get it spinning just like a slider and when you release the ball with your fingers on the outside of the ball rolling of your fingers from the outside to the inside and then you'll have to turn you full arm just like he did on this clip (sorry for my english)

  • so like throwing a football?

  • exactly!!

  • Wasn't a gyro it broke in on the lefty when it should break away for a right handed pitcher, meaning that was a (normal) change-up or Curve ball.

  • dude go watch major gyro ball can ubreak your hand if u use it 2 long o

  • i hope yall know that the definition of a "gyro pitch", is nothing more than a pitch that you don't know what it is or does

  • hahahahahahhah!! your pussy is dripping cause u watch a weird pitch?!?! ur fucked up..

  • That is the reason why he messes up hitters. Look at the rotation slowly, it spins in one direction and changes direction etc.

What is crazy is that it ends up coming into the middle.

  • spins in one direction and changes direction???as in spin direction? physicall impossible. In path direction yes. I hope thats what you meant.

  • man wish i could pitch that

  • Gets put into the stands?

Matsuzaka is pitching 18-2 and an ERA below 2.80, know your facts before you speak bitch

  • but he dosent rly throw the gryoball

  • yeah, I think thats true. The Gyro ball is a mix of a slider, fork, and a screw. Either way it has a funky movement towards it. Not quite, like a knuckleball, but a difficult pitch to read. Which explains why he's 18 - 2 this season, with the highest winning percentage (or was it 2nd?) well either way 1st or 2nd. and i think 4th most in wins.

  • a true gyro spin would give a ball little to no break. think football spin. a slightly altered gyro axis would result in different breaks.

  • more importantly, the Red Sux got beat by a team with $150 million less payroll. I'm happy now

  • I actually hate the Red Sox and Yankees. Fuck both of them.

I was just pointing out the fact that Matsuzaka is a great pitcher, to someone who seemed to be ignoring the fact that he had 18 wins over 2 losses and an ERA below 3.00

If anything I prefer the Rays out of all the teams in the playoffs this season.

When Iwamura caught the winning ball, and watching the team get together and celebrate really gave me chills.

I think Rays will win it all 4-3

  • well you got it wrong in the end you prick!

if you hate something you keep it to yourself!

you dont just go around saying it to piss people off! you are the type of sad fuck that is too scared to say it in people's face so you decide to leave it in the internet as no one can smack your sad face into shit!

  • It appears that my projections were wrong.

If you hate something keep it to yourself? Its not like I was making an outlandish attacks on the Red Sox or Yankees. I just said I didn't like them relative to the Rays.

The internet is a place to express yourself, this isn't China, theres actually freedom in the US to express yourself fucking imbecile. Your threats are empty noise, you weak shit.

Now I'll go on to blocking you, I hope you can learn how to write English one day. Good luck son.

  • that's awfully strange because i just so happened to be english! the country that speaks the language you stole! so don't tell me to learn my own language because you are the ones that should invent your own you lazy fuck! all you do is pronounce everything wrong so you can't really say that i'm not good in english!

besides you were saying you hated red sox and yankees as you said "I actually hate the Red Sox and Yankees. Fuck both of them." try and justify that, bitch!

  • OK lets see now. We (the US) didn't "steal" anything from England. If you knew your world history, you would know that many European countries came to the Americas. Portugal and Spain being the 2 major countries. England, on the other hand, was struggling and needed to be able to keep up with these countries. So when they landed here in the early 1500's, they slaughtered and persecuted the Native Americans and forced them to learn their language. Not all Americans are lazy you steriotype.

  • so did all the other countries that went to america!

it aint just England you retard! and if england was struggling, how the hell did england beat all the other countries and conquered america? all the countries that went to america did the same thing! why do you think mexico speaks spanish? canada speaks french? so in this case you're a fucking stereotype for thinking england is the only country bad enough to slaughter its colonies!

so fuck off and actually learn your countries god damn history

  • well no shit shirlock. and i know my country's history. i just conveyed it fuck face. why don't you quit being a deuch and get a life. maybe learn YOUR country's history

  • then why are you contradicting me if you agree with me? congratulations, you just made yourself look like a prick! and if we're talking about the language you use, then it's obviously about my country's history too you fucking idiot!

why dont you try and sort your brain out if you can't think strait! fucking idiot!

  • you make absolutely no sense you're just trying to make yourself seem big by using larger words and putting them together. you're obviously a fucking loser who has no life other than arguing with another person on the internet. now alex, i would like to not look at my e-mails and see alex2564145 there. you're probably oh i don't know 24 or so?? i really don't know but stop arguing with a person whose 14. what a dumbass hahaha and i probably think a whole hell of a lot clearer than you fuck face!

  • you are an asshole

  • matsuzaka has admitted to not throwing the gyro in competition. the gyro is not a breaking pitch, more of an illusionary pitch, looking like a slider/breaking ball to the batter but moving like a fastball.

  • if shane warne was allowed to throw....

  • defies physics? or throws a breaking ball? kind of a difference

  • That is really a funky rotation and if you throw it about 95 mph that will really give a hitter fits.

  • ii thought it was like a mix between a screw and a fork ball

  • it has the supposedly correct bullet spin of a gyroball but a true gyroball isnt supposed to break at all unless the axis it spins on is tilted

  • yea its just a sinker held like a slurve

  • it spins downwards and it spinning like a bullet

  • its like a slider but it dosent break down as much as a slider it stays up and unlike a slider it breaks at the very end and comes in lookin like a fast ball

  • nah its a sinker, he holds it like a slurve but he doesnt do the curve action, he lets it roll of the fingers

  • that was a real gyro u could tell by the way he rotated his arm at the end

  • Its not a screwball, screwball would spin the other way lol

  • that was a nice gyro and just to let u know it like a curve ball but opposite it break in

  • aka a screwball

  • gyro ball isn't fake...it's not a slider...it's not his curveball...and he's not the only person to throw it...a gyro ball is a pitch with the motion of a screwball and the speed and look of a change up, and to be more precise, the look of a circle change

  • circle change doesnt have a look.....its the same as a change up its just a grip used to teach younger pitchers to curl thier index finger on a changeup grip...the thumb connecting thing came with it...

  • its fake for anyone who throws overhand am i mistaken or doesnt the ball rise then sink?

  • Not if you throw it downward a little..

  • I thought they said thats what his curve is supposed to be but he can't throw it right

  • its basicaly a cutter moves a little but then drops a little

  • it's just a slider.

im not sure why they call it a slider when it sinks.

  • A hittable pitch....
