  • Downshifting suddenly on slippery roads is likely to send you into a skid. Downshift on an area not as slippery, stay in the low gear, and GO SLOW. Thirty-nine years of driving in Minnesota.

  • @1956tlm we agree, people should not be flying along at high speeds then down shift all the sudden. We're showing people that first of all it's important to stay at a manageable speed on slick surfaces (so you car react to anything from a quick stop to a sharp turn or even car in front of you having a problem). If you are already traveling at a slower speed, and you engine brake instead of using your brakes, it can help you maintain even more control. Thanks for your feedback.
