My favourite races in this version were Death Valley, Slaughter City, Mine's a Large One. I have wasted all of the opponents, cops and killed all the pedestrians many times in each race. Unfortunately, this game does not run under Windows 7 64bit.

Even though it was a racing game i never finished a single race. I mean, the game rewards you for taking out the competition which was awesome as hell so why race at all! XD

Without a doubt one of the best games ever, even to present day standards.

They should definitely do a remake. Same game, better graphics.

My first job was working at SCI in southampton and they sent us some early alpha and then beta versions of this to play. Even though it crashed every 5 mins we all went mental over it especially playing on the network (which was especially crashy). Don't think the later games were as good though somehow...

I've never played this game at all, but about 12 years ago my big brother bought this game and played it a lot and it was so fun to watch he destroyed all cars, got several new cars and some insane power ups. 5 stars mate!

the name of the driver was max damage, i like his stupid helmet hahahah yeah i was always engaged to give as much pain as i could to this guy extremely hard crashes made him spill blood , that made me very excited !!! check out the jet booster in carmageddon tdr ! THIS is fun :D ! u can become airborne with that thing and fly around !

No, I'm not talking about the recent movie called simply "Deathrace", I'm talking about what that movie is based on, a prior movie called "Deathrace 2000" which was released in 1975 (made before Carmageddon was ever thought up) starring David Caradine as Frankenstein. The 1975 movie was a cross-country race to run over the most people with your car. The remake is just a race on a prison racetrack where you had to kill the other drivers and not die yourself.

The game that became Carmageddon started out as "3D Destruction Derby", a banger-racing (stock-car) sim prototyped by Stainless. This was signed by SCi in 1995, but the banger-racing angle was soon dropped and for a while the game was to use the Mad Max license. This fell through, and was replaced by the Death Race 2020 license, as a sequel to the original film was at that time planned (it eventually emerged as a comic book). This introduced the running-over of pedestrians into the game.

When this license also fell through, SCi and Stainless took the decision to proceed with the game anyway, without a license. The name "Carmageddon" was coined, and development proceeded with the designers allowed unusually free rein with regard to the content of the game.

that game was a fuckin killer !!!! i discovered my sadistic side in me, many month i used to accellerate the car as much as i can only for let it go against concrete and give the driver as much as intensive pain as possible ! i played carmageddon part 2 and tdr but none will ever reach the screams of fear and pain of the first part !

One of the best features of this game was the video replay. It had many camera views, one of which lets you see all the action and carnage up close! Very cool game. One of my old faves.
