Night landings on land are not that big a deal....but this stuff is the ultimately test of pilot skill. Just imagine a pitching deck at night...lights bobbing in a black hole...and you've got to put your aircraft in a narrow box.
Now that was a great example of why, when wired to monitor heart rate etc., VietNam era aviators' vital signs pegged the meters higher during night traps than when they were being shot at!
