  • Shame on people who abuse animals. Shame on the " Greek culture of poisoning"

  • i live in greece and i am well aware of the killing season...i try to hide or take away the dogs of my neighborhood to a safer place, but i never completely succeed...those dogs were killed, driven over and taken away to be fed to the circus animals infront of my eyes and i could not do anything about it! I feel so helpless, because those stray dogs that every greek is afraid of are actually the good dogs!

  • keep trying... try to save them and adopt them out to NICE CARING HOMES!

  • ya, I actually made it for 2 new puppies! They got nice homes, because my new friends were willing to adopt them, because they knew that their parents love and care for animals!

  • oh great :)

its just awful what you went through..

    and those animals

I LOVE animals so much and would not be able to take that...

  • The worst part was that absolutely nobody supported me in my actions, not even my own family! My mother sort of did, but then she lost interest and was quickly against it as well!

  • im sorry to hear... as long as you are willing to make a change and save animals then thats all that counts.. i dont live in greese.. i live in canada.. and i have a dog and a cat and i couldnt bare to leave them and i would never do it

  • ...I had a dog too...two actually! I had to leave for a while and my family didn't have time to take care of her, so we had to leave her with a trust worthy person that would take care of her...! We left her there for 2 weeks, and when we came back we saw her tied to a pole, starved and dead! There had been nobody around...

My second dog was stolen from us because she was too nice and let everyone stroke her, so one person just probably thought that she was a good dog and took her far away!

  • oh thats so dam horrible...

iv had dogs all my life.. since i was a baby but i

dont remeber them... i just know about these ones i have now.. my dog is 11yrs old and is still a puppy at heart and my cat is 12 he can be playful as well :) they are so wonderful and bring me so much joy

Oh honey, the solution is not to try to adopt 1 or 2 dogs. Fight, try to change the law about stray animals, ask what you can do to have your voice heard and to find a solution to this problem, ask!

And think big, don't limit yourself to just your neighborhood.

  • I am currently trying to start a research project that might be published in a news paper if it successes. So I'm going to try as hard as possible to make it good and accurate. If I'm lucky many people will be able to read and become aware of things and then maybe more people will engage in doing something about it!

  • The bloody 'mayor' given a six month suspended sentence for corruption (what did he get in return for turning a blind eye to filthy tavernas?!) AND HE IS STILL A MAYOR?????? Only in Greece!!!!!!! Wow, what a joke the 'law' is in Greece.... no wonder the world is laughing at the country!!! Lets hope the present government will clean up the corruption and the likes of D. Terzidis will be demoted to cleaning the streets for a living!!!

  • My sentiments entirely, and they should collect all the mayors up in lorries like they attempted to do with the dogs there to "re-home" them!!!!!

  • Yes is true very proud moments for greek in Kilkis, two year ago this corrupt persons should be in jail.

  • The mayor and the law are a joke. This git wants to develop the place as a tourist resort? I've just e-mailed him to share my feeling about the animals. I feel so deeply for all the work going on there to try and alleviate the abuse of animals.

  • The mayors of these places are as much to blame as the Greek culture. In a civilised country, this would BE PUNISHED. Greece, you disgust me yet again. Tourist haven? Don't even go there....lliterally,

  • This will give you an idea about the wonderful mayor of Kilkis:

"The mayor of Kilkis, Dimitris Terzidis, was given a six-month suspended sentence yesterday for breach of duty. Terzidis was found guilty of failing to revoke the licenses of three coffee bars in the northern Greek city that racked up a total of 157 health and hygiene violations over the course of two years. The sentence has been suspended for three years"

So what chance do the animals have???

  • They are feared for biting other people, but that is only their reaction to being threatened and those dogs especially are not threatened easilly like everybody says because they are free!

In greece, animals dont have the slightest chance of survival...but if only the people who have the will to help would stand up for their goal and fight against animal abuse, at least in their local area or neighborhood (like me)!
