@MustangJohnG if a 302 was a bored out 289 and a 289 was a stroked 260, then that would mean you could bore and stroke a 260 to be a 302 (which you can't even bore a 260 that high)

my papwal has a true 1964 1/2 convertable the title says 1964 1/2 D and the vin is like 0000400 or somthin like that its a verey rare car not onley did it have a low vin number its a earley d coad car wich means it has a verey rare 4 barell carb and 4 speed trans this car is so rare i have never seen another one like it at car showes or the enternet plese dont mesige me if its for sale becouse its not LOL

im getting a 1964 1/2 mustang convertible, im new to this, so bare with me, but i only have seen 289's on it, up to how much can i put on it, include its price, c, i want a really good engine

You can put a 302 in a 64 1/2. Which is a bored out 289, which is a stroked 260. But if you buy one that was a 6 cylinder you will need to change out the rear end. If I were you I'd put an original 260 in it. Sells for a ton more. (My Whimbledon White 64 1/2 coupe has a 260 and C4 trans with center console. red inside. wouldn't drive any other car.
