• This song is about a war invasion. Step away from the window? In what other scenario would a little kid be looking out of a window and seeing war?

Off Note: I don't think that the lyrics are sung right. I think that he's lacking vocal rhythm and therefore this song isn't very catchy. For example, the pause before he says 'poison devils'.

  • @himynameisfdsa Given the fact that this song has been stuck in my head for weeks, I think it's a catchy song :p

  • Most dont know what this song is truely about. If anyone cares to know, message me.

  • the link says: "yifF" . tumbs up, if you know what this means :P

  • @FakeStrawberry How much time do you have on your hands?

  • @FakeStrawberry

You're observant, aren't you? xD Nice one, dude.

  • @lildemonicfoofubunni It's basically the same song, but counting bodies has less words and more rock to it, this one is the complete version, the other is the rock out version.

  • I have a question and please don't get mad at me and tear me a new hole cause wiping would be a b*tch, but is Pet and Counting bodies the same song but one has a harder beat.

  • Lol

  • Flawed? Hardly.

  • Err... It sounds like deftones - my own summer

  • @spooge4569 I love Deftones... nothing alike...except in amazingness...

  • @spooge4569 I don't think it does but oh well...

  • This song sounds like deftones

  • Guns will protect you from the enemy within. War makes us all safer. War is peace. My sweet nothings are all you need hear. Now go the fuck back to sleep.

  • this is the result of me putting my TOOL into your Perfect Circle

  • @BassGod2271 Uhm... an extremely immature aberration that should have never came into existence?

    Yeah, that sounds about right.

Ha, ha.... I'm still 12 and think the word penus is funny.... ahahahahahahahhahahaha

  • Such intelligent people here... :D

  • great song!!!

  • @pleiadianGODS............THANK YOU, SIR!!

  • I did a dance to this in my college's Dance Company last semester. Was awesome!

  • 3:18

Swayin' to the rhythm of the new world order and

Counting bodies like sheep to the rhythm of the war drums

  • @rycan84 best part

  • Everone is taling bout hiw the song is about cults and shodow governments, when in fact, pointed out by a band member, It's about addiction

  • @amazingfulmarie In the meaning of addiction, materialism may also be an addiction, addiction to the easily accepted and obviously ignorant, which is exactly the outcome of our society, by default I guess. If it's not literally who it's talking about, he's naming them directly.

  • i love the intro... so powerful

  • 6 people got nightmares

  • 6 People didn't get pet. :3

  • listen to this is like being water-boarded with rainbows!!!!!!!!!! its just lovely

  • I think that it is so interesting how one song can produce so many different and diverse interpretations. I think its even cooler how almost nobody guesses what this song is really about. I know I didn't. (:

  • I thought the song satirically pointed out the manipulative mindset of cults when they recruit people: isolation from friends & family and the promise of safety & belonging. Or even condescendingly mocking those who keep themselves ignorant of the day to day tragedies going on outside of their own world/ bubble. & it still sounds sweet!

  • I love how everyone has nothing better to do but start fights over songs. Thanks to those who have sense and actually enjoy the song rather than fight over opinion

  • @ArchangelVampire Your comment and your username are Awesome!!! :)

  • @TheCandymusiclover Haha thanks! Hey so are yours ^-^

  • He's talking about when Michael Jackson tells kids he won't let the boogeyman harm them XD

  • what your opinion of funny is different from others. Yes I didn't have research 9/11 because it's common sense. I feel sorry for you if your so hated you have to troll on my channel to make yourself feel better.

  • I loved it when you showed up wearing a mini dress with high heels at our high school reunion. You were voted the most changed since high school. I love you guy! Remember the cheerleader that rejected you in high school. After seeing you in a dress, she said she would love to go out with you now. I think she is a lesbo, lol.

  • yeah this song is suposed to be from the point of the government. and it is definitly about the nwo. not about drugs like some people think, why would u even think that? idk, watch counting sheep to the rythm of the war drums if you dont see yet

  • 4 people get owned by the war drums

  • Sway to the rhythm of the New World Order. Nay-sayers and doubters will end up seeing it unfold when it's a little too late. All we can do is gather the facts and let as many people as possible, know about what's in the works. Let them diss you all they like - You're still doing your part.

  • The best piece of Artwork looks its best from any angle interpreted by any age, sex and overall focus of ones mind

  • this song reminds me of Dead Rising or Left 4 Dead 2 and Dead Space 2

  • the top two comments are hilarious. lol

  • from 3:16 onwards shit gets real!

  • What is this song about, I usually listen to rap/hip hop; so I'm unfamiliar with how to understand what he's saying, I heard "new world order", "stay with me" and "keep your head down".

  • @JustElijah dude google the lyrics, you can also google the meaning behind the lyrics

  • @EdiciusAl Ok dude, I'll bing the lyrics and the meaning behind it

  • the devil has this in his ipod

  • "Swaying to the rhythm of the new world order and

Counting bodies like sheep the the rhythm of the war drums."

  • new world order is evil lol

  • Mums can't get down with us teenagers then? XD APC is amazing.

  • what kind of writing did you use for a perfect circle pet?

  • i dont know about any1 else, but this seems like a good villian song. me myself, i fell evil 24/7 365 and however many weeks there are in a month, never really got that down to a science. its good that us baddies have a real theme song for once.

  • to kathleenirish, my mom likes APC, TOOL and PUSCIFER as well and now that im a father of 1, my son bangs his head every time i play APC and this particular song is the 1 i dedicate to my son, cheers to you kathleenirish

  • Don't wanna get stampeded by the die heart rock and roll lovers, but this is a beat i can shimmie too.

and i mean egiptian belly dance with flaming swords and a little improve ballette. LOL, not that i could ever do that without hurting myself, or setting the carpet on fire.

  • @TheWitchNamedSavana Actually, I'm envisioning that and I think it looks cool with this song.X3

  • 13, love it!!!!!! lol did i just follow like a sheep, XD a believe i did sir

  • @drewstarr71 Well, a lot of people are still "sleeping" i mean some people listen to this, and don't get the meaning.

  • @denneyskyler Idk how I keep running into you..... But once again, just because you believe the meaning of the song to be the correct one doesnt make it the only correct interpretation.

  • random 18 yr old addicted to this song, oh wait, that's to be expected xD

  • 47 yr. old dad of 3...love this song!

  • @chefinheat1963 you remind me of the 13 year old that was all proud of himself for liking the beatles.

of couse you do. why wouldent you?

  • Almost every song on this album makes a comparison to the psycological control that is exercised by the military industrial complex and the effects of drug addiction. The corporations/familys/governments pulling the strings are very dangerous because thay have the ability to control mass minds through hypnosis(media). the meaning is ambivilent. the thirteenth step is meant to be a double entendre.

  • it's funny how every single a perfect circle song has arguments on it and the people who say the stupid ignorant shit always seem to be defeated.

  • So Pet is just a more upbeat form of "Counting Bodies Like Sheep"?

  • @xSOURxSKITTLExLOVERx The way I see it, Counting Bodies is more about war and the consequences of that. To me it sounds like Pet is more about the way people believe in the government and don't have to think for themselves anymore.

It's up to yourself. It's all about interpretation.

  • @Loden123 Nah, Pet is more along with an interpretation toward drugs, not politics. That goes along with the theme of Thirteenth Step.

  • The other way around, yes.

  • The debate is what challenges us to evolve. Arguing is wrong only when it isn't communication. Growth can happen in conflict but only when we are able to know in our humility that we may be wrong and are willing to validate the other. It isn't arguing that is wrong it's the refusal to even consider that the other may be right. Dogmatic thinking is what is wrong with our society. So many insecure persons unwilling to consider that we are all, in some ways, flawed.

  • @djbnrotties your comment must be the wise thing I have ever read on youtube comments..thank you for the freedom of your expressions.

  • @djbnrotties Exceptionally well said.

  • @djbnrotties I agree sir, very well put.

  • @djbnrotties Agreed, though I wouldn't say insecurity is the cause... I, like the Buddhists, believe the root of all suffering is ignorance. For if they knew what they did, they could no longer do it. Sympathy, in the end, is no different from understanding; they are one and the same.

''The wiser a man is, the more he can forgive.''

  • What about the Revolutionary...I truly respect u for even noing wat the Military Industrial Complex is but just to let u no, the US Military Industrial Complex heavily had their hands in both WWI AND WWII.

  • well kinda. WWI and WWII even the US didnt spend as much as they do now on the military. We spend more than all other counties Combined. and if you notice we always have a nation building aspect to the wars we are in now. this is because sadly the US makes money on these wars. Not the Gov. but some every large corporations. and lets face it. Its us against them. and we are losing.

  • oO I very much doubt that you spend more money than all other countries combined...?

  • we do sadly

  • im not sure if this was a comment to me but i will reply non the less :D. Yes they did have there hand in it. but we didnt go looking for fights in them cases. now it seems like we do.

  • According to wikipedia, the USA has 41% of the world military spending :-)

  • APC and Tool are very outspoken. regardless of what they say in their interviews. Maynard is a Patriot

  • she took her love away. like heroin leaving my bloodstream.... stripps all the life/ and the will to live from my body.

my fears are right... my tears are dry

  • yes i know this already, im just stating a fact as you were trying too before, settle down.

  • you do know that wikipedia is an unreliable source and holds no bearing..

  • did you also know that graduate students or representative of the subject edit them most of the time?

  • you must have no life to read comments a month old and comment

  • your obviously stupid, its on the first page of comments in a video with one screen.

  • WTF you on about?

  • sometimes I edit them, but usually whatever I add gets taken off by an admin

  • wasnt the song out before bush???

  • you ever been to war halcyon083?

  • have you mizebub? i have, many wars. and i agree with halcyon

  • on the best apc song, for real!!!

  • APC are gods seriously

  • Like this better then Counting Bodies Like Sheep.

  • THIS BAND SOUNDS LIKE TOOL SICKNESS

  • the lead singer is maynard so that's why

  • same singer...

  • yeah lead singer maynard also sings for tool

does anyone know when tool's next album comes out?

  • Ahhhhhhhhhhh this song is so WICKED!

  • This one is good But I like (( counting bodies like sheep )) better. but then again a perfect circle & tool rule everything >:D

  • this is differant from the album version the guitar is much heavier?

  • I don't think so. This IS the album version.

  • yea i have a feeling toto his sint wht ive heard.

  • i got it. tthe one we listened to was from their other album emotive. it called count bodies like sheep to the rythm of the war drums. its more drums than guitar.

  • This is the second part of Counting Bodies Like Sheep.

It's the same lyrics, with different music.

  • not exactly the same lyrics

  • i love this song, best from apc!

  • of my top 3 APC songs , just perfect

  • i'm 14 and Like APC.. ;D it reaches all Genders, Ages.

  • amazing song 5/5

  • This song i belive is about the worlds secert government (illuminati and those underneath them like skull and bones, Zionists, which wish to create a NWO and inslave mankind for themselfs). This song is trying to tell you not to worry because "they" have it all under control, and u need not fret because "they" are the ones keeping u ignorant and arrogant, and the rest of the sleeping dont care because there are all in there own state of obliviousness. I hope u people research for yourselfs.

  • "It's just a song" stfu

He's completely right on what the song is about. How is interpreting lyrics taking them too seriously? That's like something someone would say if they lack the mental capacity to think any deep philosophical thoughts. Get a fucking clue loser.

  • Well, I agree with his interpretation and I like that meaning for myself... but the lyrics are actually about drugs whispering in the ear of an addict, or at least that's what Maynard said in the Amotion DVD commentary. "Counting Bodies..." is more about berlin7779's interpretation, I think.

  • The whole album is about overcoming VARIOUS addictions. The first song being about sex addiction. This song is about the addiction to security and safety in exchange for ignorance. The lyrics point to this more than anything. "Swinging to the rhythm of the new world order" is the icing on the cake.

  • Yeah it is, I agree. I'm just going by what I heard. I figured I could take the meaning and intention of the lyrics from the guy who wrote them... but it IS Maynard... he could be yanking our chains here. ;) He probably did write the song about the NWO but he just doesn't want anyone to think he wears tin foil hats in the Arizona desert. Haha...

  • did you ever consider that he wouldn't say what he meant? I just want everyone to imagine he's Christoff singing this to Truman in the movie perhaps. Swaying to the rythmn of the New World Order? 3:19, does he not. The boogie man's coming, but keep your head down go to sleep.

We are the sheep. Who is the true herder?

Ask yourself what makes the world go round?

    SS

I'm most sure he says this, Whom is this NWO? I think I know. He speaks as if he is the controling entity.

  • The again, who are YOU to tell somebody what to do? What if he/she likes this song because he/she thinks it sounds good? You can't just ORDER somebody to write down his or her thoughts... Shouting at people because the song has deep philosophical thoughts, while they just want to listen to it will make you you just as corrupt, taint and overtaking like those who this song mentions!

Then again, who am I to tell people?

  • @TerranKyra Cool story. Stfu.

  • @TerranKyra fuck na there what you want them he is a fucking socialist

  • You mean Stalinist, right?

The world haven't seen a socialist politician (let alone state) since... Lenin, in the very early days of the Union, I think...

  • I can see how this would relate to government conspiracy but the more I listened to it it got me thinking about addiction. To me, the song is about the Drug talking to its addict.

  • see sober by tool..

this is definitely an anti-war song

but to each their on interpretation

  • Not definitively, but quite possibly.

  • VERY nice observation. =D

I love how Maynard's songs can have multiple, literal AND metaphoric meanings.

  • @berlin7779 you would be correct.

  • I highly doubt these shadow government(s) exist, in fact, I believe any normal government (the United States' in particular, ruling their own people in a fascist soft-dictatorship since the beginning of the Cold War) could do this, and does this right now. I agree with all of that stated below that part, but I think that the Illuminati was squashed over the centuries by the Catholic Church, and the Zionist theory actually comes from a fake document made by the Nazis to turn people against Jews.

  • @SONBoomer Are you referring perhaps to the "Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion," which was created by the Russian secret police prior to WWI?

  • Maybe. I definitely know there was one of these stuff created by the Nazis back then, and it is all over the Internet these days... But yeah, we might be talking about the same thing... Who knows?

  • the boogie man is coming!!!!

  • Awesome song, the only band that can make this 45 yr. old married mother of 4 do headbanging gestures in my car as I crank it!

My kids are thinking maybe Tool and APC can't be cool if old ladies like me listen to them!hahahahahahahaha!!! In love with Maynard now, too. ;)

  • i wish u were my mom

  • I'm with this guy on that.

  • Please God, why is this not my mother?

  • hahahahahaha you guys are sick hahahahahaha

  • @jOord18 me too

  • @jOord18 haha, shes more like my dad!

  • My mom is kinda like that. Lmao. Younger, though.

  • Im 23 and my mom has been known to rock some tool and APC among other things.

  • amazing <3

  • @kathleenirish That is awesome. =D

  • @kathleenirish i can believe it lol Maynard Keenan has some strange ability to be liked by all age groups lol

  • @My dad has a Tool CD in his car, and I stole his Metallica CD a few years back. (It's okay. He stole it from my mom...)

  • @kathleenirish

My mom is the same exact way, cept she doesn't headbang much XDD. Maynard rulez.

  • I like the song, but I don't like your moving icon. It distracts me. No offense

  • even if it was only the artist and song writer. I still don't like it :P

  • From what? Did you need to read that more than once?

  • moving icons rule!

  • is this song about americas government?

  • i think its about the new world order that bush is planning

  • well its not bush who is planning it hes jsut a puppet. its the top elite 1% of the world population who wants "the new world order" that is world capitalism controlled by them (world domination through economics rather than military might.)

  • J.M.Keenan is my demi-god. The very time i heard APC is at work someone was playing "Imagine" all it took was one song and i was happily addicted. one hit wonder i think not. The simple fact this man can head 3 bands ( Tool, A perfect circle and Pusifier) and still make music that is, for the lack of a better word, perfect. Shall always amaze me.

  • This is their one hit wonder, stil a great song.

  • What are yu talking about!! One hit, this song wasn't made for mainstream radio. If you know anything of Maynard James Keenan You (should google him) wouldn't make such stupid accusations. He is one of the only true artist left in the shit hole that is music company's. His albums (all of them) are works of art, like many famous artists, trust me he's right up there with the best of the best. (part 2 below)

  • he's not the only true artist left

    dig a little deeper man

  • Do notice he didn't say that he was the only one.

    One of the true artists!

    Do read before commenting man.

  • im with wass4406 %100

  • From what i've heard it could be a long time before they do get back together. Howerdel is promoting his new band and tool is working on a new album. So my guess would be a couple of years before that ever happends.

  • ashe divide i think and dont quote me (unless i am right) but Devo Keenan (son) is also in the group

  • Positive. Cellist+vocals.

  • one of the best songs i have ever heard. APC rocks. Maynard is my music idol nr. 1

  • If i ever had an anthem one of MJK's songs would be it. Too bad apc broke up.... );<

  • they did break up right?

  • not quite. the guitarist, Howerdel, was the original creator of the band, and wanted to bring it back to a solo level, which Maynard agreed to, cause Maynard felt he was affecting the music too much too. however there is a possibility of a reunion last i checked, according to Maynard and Howerdel alike

  • Ah I see, cool. Thanks

  • ♥ this song rocks ♥

  • SEX MUSIC. <33333

  • fuk yes

  • Love APC... love the song, what an Awesome song!!!

  • woahhhh! this version is emense

    love it!

  • I tried getting this song on my cell, but it was shit:@

    this version sounds way better

  • ohhhhh yeahh (y)

  • I LOVE this song i always have my sister and i have always loved tool and i am a big aperfect circle fan

  • great song~!~!~!~!~!
