Well, I agree with his interpretation and I like that meaning for myself... but the lyrics are actually about drugs whispering in the ear of an addict, or at least that's what Maynard said in the Amotion DVD commentary. "Counting Bodies..." is more about berlin7779's interpretation, I think.

He's completely right on what the song is about. How is interpreting lyrics taking them too seriously? That's like something someone would say if they lack the mental capacity to think any deep philosophical thoughts. Get a fucking clue loser.

Well, I agree with his interpretation and I like that meaning for myself... but the lyrics are actually about drugs whispering in the ear of an addict, or at least that's what Maynard said in the Amotion DVD commentary. "Counting Bodies..." is more about berlin7779's interpretation, I think.

The whole album is about overcoming VARIOUS addictions. The first song being about sex addiction. This song is about the addiction to security and safety in exchange for ignorance. The lyrics point to this more than anything. "Swinging to the rhythm of the new world order" is the icing on the cake.

Yeah it is, I agree. I'm just going by what I heard. I figured I could take the meaning and intention of the lyrics from the guy who wrote them... but it IS Maynard... he could be yanking our chains here. ;) He probably did write the song about the NWO but he just doesn't want anyone to think he wears tin foil hats in the Arizona desert. Haha...

The again, who are YOU to tell somebody what to do? What if he/she likes this song because he/she thinks it sounds good? You can't just ORDER somebody to write down his or her thoughts... Shouting at people because the song has deep philosophical thoughts, while they just want to listen to it will make you you just as corrupt, taint and overtaking like those who this song mentions!

I highly doubt these shadow government(s) exist, in fact, I believe any normal government (the United States' in particular, ruling their own people in a fascist soft-dictatorship since the beginning of the Cold War) could do this, and does this right now. J.M.Keenan is my demi-god. The very time i heard APC is at work someone was playing "Imagine" all it took was one song and i was happily addicted. one hit wonder i think not. The simple fact this man can head 3 bands ( Tool, A perfect circle and Pusifier) and still make music that is, for the lack of a better word, perfect. Shall always amaze me.

What are yu talking about!! One hit, this song wasn't made for mainstream radio. If you know anything of Maynard James Keenan You (should google him) wouldn't make such stupid accusations. He is one of the only true artist left in the shit hole that is music company's. From what i've heard it could be a long time before they do get back together. Howerdel is promoting his new band and tool is working on a new album. So my guess would be a couple of years before that ever happends.

not quite. the guitarist, Howerdel, was the original creator of the band, and wanted to bring it back to a solo level, which Maynard agreed to, cause Maynard felt he was affecting the music too much too. however there is a possibility of a reunion last i checked, according to Maynard and Howerdel alike
