  • I just discovered your totally awesome vids! I really like the old style hairstyles, but you need really long hair for that. Is there a trick into growing hair that long? I've been saving hair for 4 years and it's still just below my shoulders... Doesn't seem to grow :( My hair is very thick tho, or will thick hair not grow long? can't wait till I've tried all your styles, if possible. Thx for sharing!

  • @Bar2aYuna My hair is fairly thick, so I don't think it's that thick hair won't grow. Just get a trim once or twice a year and leave it be. It will grow. Hair grows on average between 1/2 an inch to 2 inches per month, so as long as you're not getting trims constantly, it should be growing just fine. :o)

  • Thank you! Your videos rock! I'm just trying to regrow my hair (it was almost tailbone length until a run in with an unskilled hairdresser.. I asked for some layers, she cut my hair to be about armpit length.. Needless to say I was very upset.) Anyway, it's still not long enough for this, but maybe in a few years. Only about a foot to go until it hits tailbone lenght! You're an awesome inspiration.

  • Will do !!! :)

  • Torrin this is BEAUTIFUL !!!

I have tailbone length hair that is SUPER THICK, just like yours & have just LOVED all of your tutorials !

I have wanted to do pretty hair styles for so long but thought I couldn't do them.

Thanks to you I have TOTAL SUCCESS !

I'm a civil war & victorian re-enactor & cannot wait to do these styles now !

I really wish I could send you a pic of my hair in this style with an antique rhinestone comb I bought years ago. It holds beautifully in "The Countess"

  • @southernbellekari oooh, you could send it to my contest email addy...lol...torrinpaigecontest at gmail dot com - I do so love pictures!!!

  • You are so talented! :) May I ask how long it took for your hair to grow that long? It looks beautiful <3

  • @Rosesinthewoods First off, I'm very tall (6 feet) so it took a bit more time for my hair to reach tailbone then it has some other people, just because my body is so long. LOL. From chin length to waist length took about 6-7 years. During that time, I grew by bangs out, had layers and then had to let them grow back out, yadda yadda. My best guess is 8 years all told from chin to tailbone. But if I had left it alone and hadn't done all of that? Maybe 5?

  • @torrinpaige Lol, I never thought about tall people vs. shorter people. I am quite tall myself and I have curly hair, so it looks like it grows slow because my hair is so thick. My gosh, extra long time! Haha. Okay, thank you so much for answering. Love your videos! *just subcribed* Love from Norway! :)

  • Love it...I'm going to try this one and the Skyrim one...looks like fun.

BTW, have you checked out the Video called "Super Long Hair Meets the Chair"? Scary gorgeous!

  • o your so beautiful, and o so beautiful hair!

  • This movie is so great ! Thanks for the tutorial. :)

  • Oh my god! I just saw this movie with my boyfriend and I couldn't stop raving about how beautiful the hair was! When I saw this hair style I thought for sure that there would be no way I could do this myself (surely this is why one had hand maidens back then, right?) but nope, I pop over here to get some new braid ideas and saw this. Thank you so much for making this hair style possible for me. :)

    -Alice

  • I love your videos! your hairstyles ra amazing, there are easy to made but wonderful!

  • This looks wonderful on you, but I don't think it'll ever look as good on me even when I'm at your length because my hair is so fine and silky : ( My braids aren't thick and pretty like yours.

  • I love your videos! thank you so much for taking the time to make them. you are really cute & sweet and I'm so glad to find videos that are actually for *long* hair and not "long" hair, ie shoulder length :) it's not very often I feel like my hair is too short, haha. (it's waist length)

  • If you want really cool braided hairstyles, you should try the version of "Hamlet" with Mel Gibson in it. The queen in particular has some very gorgeous and fancy braided styles.

  • @mokster5 I don't think I've watched that movie since college - and back then I didn't pay as much attention to hairstyles in movies. LOL. I'll have to take another look. Thanks for the tip!

  • I love this! What could I use besides a sock bun? Then tend to eat up a lot of my length and I'm going to need every inch for the braids to make it all the way around. Could a french twist base work?

  • @eezepeeze You know, I'll bet it would. Give it a try and let us know! I'll add an addendum in the underbar if it does.

  • @torrinpaige Well, I tried out the french twist idea and it worked pretty well. I still don't have enough length to do the two braids wrapped around. Mine meet in the middle, sort of like heidi braids. Not as cool as the look of all the different braids, but a place to start. Yay! another reason to let my hair grow! I think I have another idea, too. I'm going to try dividing my hair into 2 and twisting them around each other to make the base, then continue with the braids. I'll let you know.

  • So pretty. You are very talented :). Oh I saw that movie too. It was very interesting. What gets me is that it was a true story.

  • Totally Awesome!!!!!!!!! Love!!!!! :)

  • You should do hair braiding at the Renaissance Festival! Make some money on the weekends! :)

  • @leeleechristmaslover The only problem is I can only braid my own hair - I'm the pits when it comes to doing the hair of others.

  • I love this...its so pretty and its kinda easy looking to do.

  • i looove u

  • This is so awesome!!!!

  • lol... somewhere in the middle of this vid it somehow reminded me of an viking custom of viking men testing their wives if they were faithful.... XD

  • @Nelalipe Wow. Your brain works like mine! Something that has nothing to do with anything will trigger totally random information. I thought I was the only one that happened to.

  • @torrinpaige yeah... very bothersome if you're a teacher. So distracting... lol

  • Oooh beautiful 'do Torrin! My hair isn't long enough yet for this even though I'm close to waist. my braid doesn't wrap that far around my head quite yet.

  • waaah I could cry. My hair is so thin that all fancy hairstyles look like crap on me. :'(

  • @helgaullarsokkur are you part of LHC? I saw a lovely updo on the forums that is supposed to work well for thin hair; I can find the link if you're interested.

  • Hey Torrin, even tho I am 27 sometimes I wish my hair would be that long and you would be my mom to do all the nice Hairstyles for me. ^^

  • You always inspire me so do up-dos:D Great work, as always!!

  • Great do.

Berlinhairbaby sells drapey hair chains. You should be able to find a shop link somewhere on her channel page.

  • @ladyflimflam Awesome! I was thinking of making some for myself. I just had to get this tutorial up in a timely fashion and had to use what was around the house. It would have been so much easier with an already made piece. :o) I'll go check her out. Thanks for the tip!

  • You SHOULD wear these to the shops, let everybody be jealous :D

  • Great, great, great hairstyle! I'll try it out as soon as the nail polish dries ...

Just a tip - if you hang an adjustable bathroom mirror on the opposite wall of where your other mirror is hanging - that will give you eyes in the back of your head. It should be a big adjustable mirror though, to make things easier ...

  • Oh My! I just watched this movie a week or so ago and loved every part of it! It is a very touching film. When I saw her hair I thought to myself, "I wonder if Torrin could do that!". You are amazing, Torrin! <3

  • Any chance you could do a hairstyle from ever after? I know most of them are simplistic and you've probably already covered them but the one where she goes to the ball would be interesting :)

  • Ooo fun :D i'm going to try this. Probably without the extra pretty bits though XD

  • Absolutely beautiful! I am so trying this... when my hair is long enough :0)

  • This so so pretty!!

  • I had a thought that might make your life easier. Have you ever thought about hanging another mirror across from the one you usually use? I bet it would be fantastic. :)

  • So simple, yet gorgeous!

  • Wow Torrin... that was great... I wish i can do that for upcoming my friend wedding, but my hair is so fine and so thin, it wouldn't look as good as urs... But Great video as always!!!! Love U!

  • Gorgeous. Where was the internet and you tube when I was young and more inspired to grow my hair long?? Sigh.

  • pretty pretty pretty

  • You could design hair jewelry ......

  • I imagine it would be easier if you had ladies-in-waiting to help with that ; )

Looks Great ; ) May your new year be full of adventures ; )

  • So are you at TBL in this vid? I want to know that I can recreate the style almost exactly XD

  • lovely torren!

  • Gorgeous. simply gorgeous.

  • Beautifully done, as usual. I need to try a sock bun, I never have before. This totally has inspired me. Simple but doesnt look like it. Love it! .

  • @LoriHulstine Sock buns are a great way to double your bun size instantly - with something you have around the house! just cut the toe out of a sock and roll it up like a donut. If you want a bigger donut, use a bigger (longer) sock.

  • @torrinpaige Awesome video. Could you pls be a little more specific about how to roll the sock up like a doughnut? I just don't get it. Beautiful hair style. You are a true hair artist.

  • @kathywittes I'll cover it in the next vlog, okie dokie?

  • @kathywittes You could try Loepsie's 'the sock bun secret' video - she has a couple of versions of how to do it. :)

  • @torrinpaige great job! love it. I've also taken one of those shower scrunchies & cut the white cording off & rolled the scrunchie into a sock roll. It makes a bigger sock that can be poked with bobby pins. & you can find any color to match your hair color. love watching movies to find different styles. keep up the awesome work

  • This is SO pretty! I'm going to give this a go, because I LOVE sock buns! Not sure if my hair will let me do all the braids! Maybe I will only get one in there, but this is still really beautiful and I'm locking it away for the day I might have longer length! I finally hit BSL!

  • @LaDollyVita33 Woot! I just trimmed 3 inches off the old man's hair to thicken up his hemline - he's officially back to BSL now. He thinks he's gonna stay there...those last few inches were driving him bonkers.

  • I absolutely love every video you make!

  • @PeaceMilly04 Thank you, Milly!

  • I could try to sew the braids in, but for a military ball, something too elaborate is just gonna look silly. I need something classy and fancy as hell, something not involving too many braids so my hair doesn't look finer than it already is, and something that will make me feel like a friggin princess...aaaaaand.....GO! LOL seriously, I adore this style, I just wish I could make it work. You just need to come over for a playdate so you can do my hair before the ball. I has peppermint ice cream!

  • @lerchskat Well, shit. LMAO. No worries, I have another two in my head. Won't the peeps be excited to get so many styles so quickly? Usually I take forever between doing them. A new one up tomorrow then. Classy and fancy and less braiding. I'm on it!

  • @torrinpaige Yesssssssss. You, my love, are one classy broad!

  • @lerchskat Have you tried doing a diagonal dutch braid and wrapping the rest in a neat side bun? You'd have to braid with your hair damp, but it looks so fancy, but it's so simple!

P.S. My mom always wore her hair simple to all of the military balls she attended with my dad. You need not be too fancy. Any form of a bun is good, as long as it's neat! Be polite, smile, wear a floor length gown & gloves, and have manicured hands and you're golden. (Military kid.)

  • @StellaLilly I think Torrin has come up with something that will work. I am so excited for this ball. I am waffling between a floor length gown or a vintage style knee length gown with a petticoat and little white gloves. I love the floor length down I have, but it is navy blue and I don't want to clash with the old man's dress blues lol. I know though, no matter what I wear or how I do my hair, it will be a lovely night I will always cherish.

  • SO FANCY! But, and I hate saying this, I had some problems. Though we are both tbl, you have quite a few inches on me, so when I was wrapping the braids, they looked puny and sad because my "lack" of length and my taper. Slip- being that my hair is silky, the damn braids would NOT stay, no matter how many pins I put in. Ugh it is SO HARD to figure out what the hell I am going to do with my hair for this damn ball. Down isn't an option because my dress has beading.

  • @lerchskat Try using this product to put some texture in your hair. Bigsexyhair Root Pump Plus Mouse. They also make a thickening hair spray that adds tons of volumn & texture that should help greatly. You can find these at Target & CVS. It in a Red can. I hope this helps. its a beautiful hair style for a ball.

  • @LoriHulstine Thanks so much for the advice, but I don't use any product in my hair whatsoever, unless it is for a play I am in, and even then I put up a hissy fit until they understand and back down. I know this is for a ball and one day out of the year won't kill my hair, but if I can help it, I am a strict no product gal. I appreciate it though!

  • @lerchskat No problem. I only use it for hard to hold hair do's myself. Sewing the braid in like you said might be your only option with this style if your wanting it to work. Im sure Torrin will find a style that will work with your hair type. Good Luck.

  • I saw that movie on netflix now I'm interested in watching

  • @Keildra If you're watching it for hair and clothes, it's pretty cool. If you're watching it for story - it's okay. If you're watching it for acting - it's pretty bad. It's one of those movies that's really pretty to look at. LOL.

  • @torrinpaige so put it on mute and you're good to go! lol

  • where is your mail, please?thanks

  • @sacovalinas On my channel page, beside my avatar, there is a Send Message thing you can click. I check them daily.
