Everything he does is brilliant. The only bad thing I can say (and I suspect he would find this much more offensive than any accusations of hiring stooges and what have you) is that I find his facial hair to be quite silly.

the tricky part is balancing nlp with humor to distract the audience. This misdirection is often how magician's can pull off "the move" that makes tricks successful. However, instead of slight of hand, Derren is employing powerful persuasive techniques to influence the audience, and if you have the ability to rewatch these moments, the revelation of the secret becomes obvious. Truly, and Evening of Wonders!!

@Roenazarrek if you are interested in his methods then try to find a copy of his first book for magicians only (which was written just as he started doing tv back in 99 or so) called Pure Effect. now im not telling you where to get it because been out of print for quite some time because more and more people want to know how he does alot of his stuff. Also look for a copy of the Devil's Picturebook, also not easy to find.

I actually saw this in my vacation to the UK last year. The whole thing about the gorilla was right before the show they showed us a black and white video of ping pong.

They told us to count how many times the ball crossed the net... and while doing so 2 gorillas jumped in and started playing, and hardly anyone noticed.
