i just bought an external dvd drivs and card reader that connect through usb 2.0 and i just made all the connections im planning to make a video on it soon

no actually there should be some pins on the back of the cd and dvd rom drive with a thing called a jumper which sets on two of the pins now im not sure exactly where to put the jumper but if u got any manual with the cdrom/dvdrom drive it should say.i would set ur dvd to master and cd to slave or cable select if you dont know how to put it as slave please get back to tell me if it worked thanks.

i had a cd-rom and changed it for a dvd-rom pluged all and now when i start my computer with my dvd-rom the computer wont start

yes you can you just have to have them on the same ide cable and have one set as a master and one as a slave

yes its called an ide cable and you should have the side with the red line pointed closest to the power supply it does not matter which is master or slave but i would go with the dvd drive as a master and cd as a slave
