MY SUGGESTION: TUNE EVERY STRING TO D (SO YOU HAVE NO BUZZ ON THE 6TH STRING) AND THEN PLAY THE PROGRESSION 0-2-5-9-7-5 AND 9-7-5 FOR THE CHORUS. ON THE OTHER SIDE, IF YOU DONT LIKE TO TUNE UP THE B STRING TO D, THEN LEAVE IT LIKE THIS AND PLAY THE PROGRESSION 3-5-8-12-10-8 AND 12-10-8 FRETTING BOTH THE 2ND AND 6TH STRING. THIS SOUND EXACTLY THE SAME AS IN THE VIDEO. CHEERS!

If you guys seriously insist on tuning into this weird tuning, here is something you can do: Since the song is all played on the E string, which is tuned to B, just leave the B string alone, and fret the B string in the same place as the E string as you play. No more snapped strings, and its sounds largely the same. Or just do what i do and play the chords in the open form.

Thats the only thing i hate about the goo goo dolls. I love them and love playing there songs on guitar but to many of them require some weird ass tuning that just isn't worth the effort. Tune it this way and let it sit before you play. Pshhhhhhh like i have the patience for that.

I hope this instructor is aware that the opening line that he is playing is actually the bass line in the song, so tuning your guitar to "B tuning", is incorrect. It is possible to snap your string because your guitar should not be tuned down that much, it is the bass guitar playing the opening line not the guitar itself. Listen to the song more carefully.

I have played this song twice live both times while tuning down to D i broke my fucking G string! haha and i tuned the correct way.... its happend twice its too loose for the G string. ( i think its because i kept like tuning up to standard then down to this tuning... grrrrr.)
