  • Actually the P-38 pilot made ONE glaring mistake that dwarfs any other mistakes he may or may not have made ... he turned into an opponent with VASTLY superior turn performance.

  • @antred11 To be fair to my opponent, he was probably just trying to keep his eyes on me since his rear visability relies completely on a mirror. He was basically making a lazy circle of the area trying to boom and zoom that low Ki-43. But yes, he made a huge mistake when he tightened his turn, but he realized it and tried to dive. If he was going to dive, he shouldn't have gone for the deck, but should have done a shallow dive to build up speed without giving me potential energy over him.

  • @TheNewCommissar I fly the P-38 fairly often (well I did when I was still playing Il-2), and the P-38 actually has surprisingly good rear view. You do not have to turn that much to check 6, believe me. Just a little banking and wiggling your ass will be enough. ;)

  • @antred11 I think I remember you. We flew on the same server often back in the day on Warclouds, I was 'Furniture' back then? I mostly flew the Bf-109Ks and Gs when I flew Il-2 back in the day (I don't play anymore, trying out Rise of Flight at the moment), but towards the end I spent a lot of time in the P-38 for the Pacific theater, and it was a blast. The thing is untouchable in the Pacific if you fly conservatively, and its firepower devastates the more fragile Japanese fighters.
