Steven Spielberg Said. ET returning? Its never going to happen. Because all the kids are grown up. He said he would have to place new kids in different rolls. He said It wouldn't work. Plus the movie in its time was a gem. It would actually ruin the movie if he put out another one. Like the 4th sequel of Indiana Jones. That last Indy film ruined the Indiana Jones series for me in my opinion. It was horrible. The movie looked like they were trying to make the movie in a hurry. That ruined it.

You don't know E.T until you've read the book. He wouldn't come back for vengeance- he was SAVED by an EARTHLING. His best reason for coming back would more than likely be Mary. Elliot's mother. In the original screenplay, E.T falls in love with Mary, but cannot express himself to her for fear that she might not accept him. Sounds silly, yes, but thats the way they wrote it. But they cut it out of the movie, in the end. They just put it in the book I got a copy of.

Present day: Elliot and Gerdi have families. Keys & Mom are married.One day Elliot starts to have dreams and funny feelings. He hears news about UFO sighting making something click in him "ET!". He then tells mom, Keys, Gerdi, which are in doubt, but listen. Elliot gets help from Keys about government info of an alien captured. Elliot goes to rescue "ET" but it's not him(his son). He leads him to ship where ET is dying and wanting to see Elliot last time. Final goodbye, ET dies, ship leaves. ;-)
