well American Cartoonists barely have jobs thanks to Japan so I guess the Decrease in Anime would be good for other animation producing nations.Daikon is good though

Hellsing Ultimate is an OVA series; a short run series released on video. Due to a less strenuous release schedule and a traditionally higher budget when compared to a televised animated program of the same length. As such quality is almost guaranteed to be high. You're essentially comparing a summer blockbuster to an indie student film.
As for Devil May Cry I just looked up a few clips of it and saw numerous instances of the animation shortcuts I was referring to
Beyond this, Anime really isn't a genre. There is almost nothing which unifies anime series beyond their country of origin.
Unless you're honestly going to try and argue that things like Crayon Shin Chan or Panty and Stocking are part of the same genre as Cowboy bebop and Berserk.

(cont) If you watch a lot of anime you'll begin to notice the shortcuts the animators take to save time and money, things like panning shots over still frames, framing which negates the need to animate and the habit of only animating certain parts of a scene (ie the character's mouth).
Now, as I've said, not all anime do these things, but a very significant number do. There is an equal ratio of crap to gold in anime as there is in western animation

I bought the slim box set of Nerima Daikon Brothers. I was very glad to help out. If I knew the voice actor's addresses, I'd send them each a case of beer! I'd even spring for the pizza!

Yeah, I know. That's why I asked. I could tell. I asked because it sounded like their normal voices. I know what Greg sounds like, but I don't really know what Luci sounds like in real life, either. Chris pretty much doesn't change his voice for this show. He's a little more monotone, but still.
I think it's alittle ironic that Luci Christian is singing about boozing since Yukari(Azumanga Daioh)was one of the first roles I knew her for. I totally agree with Norenia, this song DEFINATELY should be made into the official song of the voice actors.
I love voice actors. the amount I've met are just the coolest people on the planet and that's why I'm going to school and majoring in acting so I can go to texas to become one. hell what doesn't have voice over these days, from games and anime, to movies and music. Great song! I don't think the Anime industry is tanking. In fact, the Anime industry is booming. Despite ADV's collapse in the foreign markets, (thanks mainly to their production factories beeing shut down in China during the Beijing Olypmics), Anime in the western countries has really taken off, especially here in America the past five years. I agree that Piracy has an effect on the industry, but there are countless amounts of people who still legally buy. That alone will allow anime to live.
We'd like to see it that way but the truth is the number of people who legally buy anime are minuscule in comparison to the piracy going on out there! The truth is the more anime becomes popular the more people want easy access to it leading to piracy. Its true Anime is insanely popular these days but people buy plushies and wallscrolls etc. and those are often unoffical (esp. plushies) and the money never makes it to the companies. The Anime Industry is still not out of the woods yet!
(sighs) I guess you're right, but we need to get those lazy punks who have money, to get off they're butts and buy anime! After all, if they can afford a fast internet connection speed, they can sure as hell afford to buy dvds. @mmdopeclown Lets put it this way. More people would buy anime if it wasn't so unfairly priced. Nobody wants to pay $60 for 13 episodes. I can see paying 60 for the entire series if it's a relatively short 50 - 100 or so episode series, but not for just 13 episodes. Or how they charge around 500 for just the first season of Sailor Moon. It's not fair, and people don't have a ton of money to buy cartoons, so we download instead. If the industry were more fair we'd buy more legit copies instead.

Many companies are lowering their prices to make it more affordable for fans so they don't watch shows illegally. Not only that, but FUNimation is streaming full episodes of shows on their YouTube channel and website for people who still can't afford it. How's that for making it more fair to fans?
@fletchttjluevery Wow I wasn't aware they had that program. I usually get my anime through f.y.e so unless it's used, it's outrageously expensive and takes me weeks to save up for it. I'll have to check out that program FUNi has. And I watched all of NDB on YouTube through FUNI, and intended to buy it. My problem is that the base retail price without S.A.V.E. is far too high and if they lowered it to no more than $6-9 more than the amount of episodes per box set, that would be better. $30 =24ep
@Ryuzaki492008 Ah! Well, I get my anime from amazon and FUNimation lowers there prices a lot. You can buy complete series from them for no more than $15(?) with the S.A.V.E. thing. It's pretty cool. I think they've only done it for shows that have been out for a while, though. Still, they're selling the first 26 episodes of Hetalia for only $26, which is very nice. ^_^

I think the English singing sounds better than the Japanese ones. And the English versions of the sons are funnier than the translations. But either way this show is genius.

I like the Japanese music better, mainly because of Shigeru Matsuzaki, who has a kickass voice. But Greg and Chris did really well. Luci did well too, but I don't like the accent she used in Nerima.

It beats Disney, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, etc. Detail and proportion, which is something mostly every anime except moe monsters possess, is a sign of superior art. For example. Further, the detail and proportion are not necessarily the be all and end all of quality. One of the biggest aspects of animation is the illusion of movement and the fluidity thereof.

Hellsing Ultimate is an OVA series; a short run series released on video. Due to a less strenuous release schedule and a traditionally higher budget when compared to a televised animated program of the same length. As such quality is almost guaranteed to be high. You're essentially comparing a summer blockbuster to an indie student film.
As for Devil May Cry I just looked up a few clips of it and saw numerous instances of the animation shortcuts I was referring to

(cont) If you watch a lot of anime you'll begin to notice the shortcuts the animators take to save time and money, things like panning shots over still frames, framing which negates the need to animate and the habit of only animating certain parts of a scene (ie the character's mouth).
Now, as I've said, not all anime do these things, but a very significant number do. There is an equal ratio of crap to gold in anime as there is in western animation

Great song! I don't think the Anime industry is tanking. In fact, the Anime industry is booming. Despite ADV's collapse in the foreign markets, (thanks mainly to their production factories beeing shut down in China during the Beijing Olypmics), Anime in the western countries has really taken off, especially here in America the past five years. I agree that Piracy has an effect on the industry, but there are countless amounts of people who still legally buy. That alone will allow anime to live.

We'd like to see it that way but the truth is the number of people who legally buy anime are minuscule in comparison to the piracy going on out there! The truth is the more anime becomes popular the more people want easy access to it leading to piracy. Its true Anime is insanely popular these days but people buy plushies and wallscrolls etc. and those are often unoffical (esp. plushies) and the money never makes it to the companies. The Anime Industry is still not out of the woods yet!

Its even worse in Japan Newtype (before it became that other magazine) expected it would collapse in the next 5-10 years. T-T Which means no anime for our kids. @mmdopeclown Lets put it this way. More people would buy anime if it wasn't so unfairly priced. Nobody wants to pay $60 for 13 episodes. I can see paying 60 for the entire series if it's a relatively short 50 - 100 or so episode series, but not for just 13 episodes. Or how they charge around 500 for just the first season of Sailor Moon. It's not fair, and people don't have a ton of money to buy cartoons, so we download instead. If the industry were more fair we'd buy more legit copies instead.

Many companies are lowering their prices to make it more affordable for fans so they don't watch shows illegally. I'll have to check out that program FUNi has. And I watched all of NDB on YouTube through FUNI, and intended to buy it. My problem is that the base retail price without S.A.V.E. is far too high and if they lowered it to no more than $6-9 more than the amount of episodes per box set, that would be better. $30 =24ep

I think they've only done it for shows that have been out for a while, though. Still, they're selling the first 26 episodes of Hetalia for only $26, which is very nice. ^_^

I have the whole series on DVD, I ripped the one of the episodes to my computer and then cut out this ending and uploaded it here
