WTF is a "god" gonna do with 10% of your income? That 10% is much better spent buying sandwiches for the homeless people of your city, or something like that.
Why give it to the church, where most of it goes to paying people who work for the church and new pews for people to nap in on Sundays and such when you could give back directly to your community?

10% is just an estimate- It's just a figure Christian's use.
Most churches use money to help the community (our church uses a lot funds to do that). We do it because God wants us to reach out to others in need. Money can also be used for Missions, or for a Pastor's income. Pastors help support, council and lead the church.
We Christian's are God's heirs; we inherit much more than what we have on Earth. What's the point of sulking over not owning what isn't ours anyway? Earthly things belong to someone much more deserving. It's pathetic if we don't think that's fair.
