  • Im tired of seeing peoples comments about how much they can lift when 90% of the time it's bullshit. ''Im 16 and i can deadlift 500 lbs, is that good'' LOL if you have no idea that deadlifting that much is good or not then i seriously doubt you're lifting that much and if you're your form must be horrible as fck. NOW SHUT THE FCK UP ! I'm 20 years old i am 210 lbs 8% body fat and i would struggle with 500 lbs myself.

  • knees move in, suggesting glutes are not balanced in strength with quads. work on them glutes, and you'll be able to increase your lift a lot

  • i finally just broke the 500 mark i turned 16 last month

  • I might have miss counted but that first guy did 10 not 12.

  • The bodybuilder was doing full deadlifts in very good form. The powerlifter's deadlifts were closer to stiff legged deadlifts which are actually harder to do than deadlifts. Clearly he's the stronger of the two. Nonetheless, the bodybuilder's performance was excellent and it was good to see such fine form.

  • Ya I did 900 and I'm 12 y.o weigh 200

  • @archer1389478 Oh nice!

  • I'm 16 years old and I just maxed on dead lift for the first time. I got up 405. Is that good? I mean I've trained for a while but I never bothered to max. I have really nothing to compare it too so I mean if it's not that good, tell me because I'm really curious.

  • @MrJunior81095 For sure. I started when I was 19 and it took me a full year before being able to pull 405. 405@ 16 is great.

  • @MrJunior81095 405@16 y/o is pretty good man, had the same max when i was 16 and got second place on a minor meet(the guy who beat me had +20 years of training experience on me)

  • @MrJunior81095 uhh thats awesome at your age, how much you weigh?

  • @MrJunior81095 im 16 too and can do the same weight. and yes thats pretty good for our age

  • @MrJunior81095 Wow! That's cool. I'm 3 years old and I did 600. Do you think that's good? I never really bothered checking.

  • @MrJunior81095 I coach High School Powerlifting in PEI Canada. Our biggest deadlift on record is Matt Rice: 575lbs@195lbs bwt and 17 yrs old and for squat Matt Dehmel: 530lbs@242lbs bwt and 16 yrs old. Matt Dehmel also benched a strict 300lbs with a pause. Both competed at the IPF World Juniors and are Canadian Sub Junior Champions (18 and under). Both are on our school team. Yes, 405lbs is a very good deadlift.

  • Lol, the last guy where lifting with recoil, wich means it is alot easier in the beginning.

  • where's the bodybuilder?

  • Damn.

  • Powerlifter FTW!

  • This looks like a recipe for injury.

  • Are you guys all friends?? the ones in the video im meaning.

  • Touch and go deadlifts are completely different from dead stop like the first guy did. you are comparing apples and oranges.

  • @tmcg007 yep and also it depends how good a person is at deadlifting, some find it easy some find it hard

  • @tmcg007 Agree, many people confuse these two. The definition of a deadlift is what the word means, the weights are lifted dead from the ground, and not "touch-bounced" up as I see so many do. It's not wrong, it's just wrong to call it a proper deadlift

  • holy nut balls

  • btw, I am 22yo filipino and a proud father of 2.. *kisses biceps*

  • hey there i need tips for deadlifting. First I must say, I see you guys worked hard to get where youre at, very impressive and thank you for posting!

Several months ago I was deadlifting 365 for reps with the pause deadlift style like the first guy in this vid. 2 weeks ago I did 385x9 touch n go like the second guy in the vid. Last week I did 405x8 touch n go again. My point is, is touch n go good for building strength? Am I just going up from noob gains? Im currently 5'9, 173lbs. Yell at me!!!!

  • AGREED THE POWERLIFTER GOT STRETCH REFLEX, DO THE CONTEST AGAIN BOTH PULLING FROM A DEAD STOP!

  • Obviously the powerlifter is stronger but the bodybuilder used dead stops and no momentum to get the bar off the ground.

  • rage against the machine and deadlifts, dosnt get any more awsome than this.

  • i weigh 145 and dead lifte 415 tonight actually new max im only 5'6 1/2tho but i do a mixture of powerlifting exercises as well as the typical body building style

  • Hey, i'm having problems improving my deadlift because of my height.. I'm 6"7 and i'm wondering should i start training it with blocks to give me some help at the start or should i keep on going full range with lower weight (like 20kg lower)?

  • @dollzandpinz No, I would not recommend blocks. All that will do is work on the lockout and if the deadlift itself is the problem then working with blocks wont help. The best way to get better at deadlifting is to deadlift often. 6'7 sounds like a disadvantage but as you get stronger you will be able to pull a lot. Height like that utilizes a lot of leg power to start the lift and makes for a good deadlift. Lots of really tall deadlifters pulling huge! The squat is where you will suffer...

  • @jlinteris Thanks a lot, really appreciate the advice. I wasn't sure how the blocks helped I just noticed they made getting the bar up easier, the lower part of the lift is the hardest for me. Once again thanks! And i really do suffer squatting :( like 90kg max :/ seeing people doing 200 easy

  • @dollzandpinz do sumo deadlifts! it will get you lower to the ground just like us short guys haha.

  • @dollzandpinz you only have to deadlift once a week. but like 2 times a week do stiff leg deadlifts, that's really good. do them for reps (7-10) and go all the way down. and if you want to go beyond that, stand on a bench or step and go past your feet. that gives you more reach

  • Second guy didnt deadlift. He didnt kenetic bump & bounce off the floor lifts.

  • surely the powerlifter will always win at a strength contest because strength is not a bodybuilder's goal.

  • im 16 and my max deadlift is 170kg, is that good?

  • @TimmyRonaldinho no your an idiot

  • @TimmyRonaldinho damn straight that is good!

  • @jlinteris Thanks for the reply, I currently weigh 75.6kg and have increased my max out to 180kg, usually do 6 sets of 6 reps for 140kg, is this average or what? (just want to know roughly where that stands), Cheers.

  • @TimmyRonaldinho

I have to see it to believe.

  • @TimmyRonaldinho I'm 15 and my max is 180kg!

  • @InferiorThanYou and your bodyweight is 100kg of lard! congrats bro! almost hitting double your body weight!

  • @TimmyRonaldinho Lard? Really? Thanks though!

  • @TimmyRonaldinho VERY good, i'm 17 and my max is only 150 :P

  • @TimmyRonaldinho are you black?

  • who do you think was going to win.. but amazing effort from both

  • Lol. The powerlifter is bouncing the weight. I train powerlifting and building, (depending on my goal) but either way i would rather lift like the bodybuilder. Exlosive up and controled down, let the weight rest to a stop and repeat.

If the bodybuilder lifted the same way i bet he could do more than the powerlifter in this case. And this comming from me who loooove powerlifting. ;)

  • if you keep your head up you may get an extra rep

  • It looks so easy!!

  • If i was a newbie walkin in that gym and saw these guys deadin 500lbs for a joke 3 feet from the door i would walk out scared shitless

  • Holy fuck, how can you breathe? After 4 reps with 500 I feel like I've just run a marathon.

  • im 15 and can bench 160 anout 6 times is that any good !?

  • @mico6945 You bet it is. When I was 18 and started I benched 95x5 the first time. That was pounds- not kilos so you are way the hell ahead of where I started.

  • @jlinteris It's good to see someone replying with honesty and encouragement - keep it up buddy!

  • @jlinteris so your basicly livng proof that you don't need good genetics to become a strong guy.

  • @WastingTime4ever Uh, sure?

  • @mico6945 yea thats good im 14 and i max out on 165 on bench so yea you do good

  • i find really funny the voice of the trainer. he sounds like a videogame or something

  • bodybuilding and powerlifting are both equally hard

power clean is by far the most difficult lift

but pressure to your muscles for numerous reps is extremely hard as well..

  • disappointing that you werent able to smoke him bc now all the bodybuilder fanboys are gonna go "see? bodybuilders > powerlifters" jk bro good lifts by both. thats a hella strong bodybuilder. im assuming he gets huge lifting big and then cuts out big time for BB shows which means hes prob all natural so props

  • deadlifts are supposed to be just that -- dead. lifts. not touch-and-go

  • idiotamerican guys!!!

  • @rakoonloufa88 get a life

  • @steriods4champions get a roids

  • @rakoonloufa88 learn to spell

  • @steriods4champions i take steroid anabols and synthol! you?

  • @rakoonloufa88 synthol isn't a steroid. it's for pussys like you

  • @steriods4champions i now is not steroids ...!i take all ever ! anadrol, testosteron, all...! synthol is good.

    u? you take nothing?

  • @rakoonloufa88 is that a bad thing if i'm natural?

  • u need to wear a belt but good performance tho.

  • @iceman5422able Thanks. The first guy wore his belt under his hoodie.

  • @iceman5422able and mabye something good for the feet? maybe a shoe :P

  • yes I agree, the bodybuilder is obviously better.

  • wow thats alot of lower back usage

  • @millachipmunk thats the nature of the lift, son

  • @lyzedpara oh thanks for the lesson, pops.

  • @millachipmunk youre welcome.

    any more questions?

  • @lyzedpara don't think there were any questions to begin with

  • @millachipmunk hey...

dont be going around correcting me. respect your elders, boy

  • @lyzedpara Be quiet before I beat you with your own cane old man

  • thx for replies

wish you quick recovery and hopefully gonna see new cool lifts soon.

  • that's bad. how did u hurt your back? actuall hernia or just constant soreness that stoped you from your deads? looking at your deadlift technique it's pretty good. and how did u repinched your neck, when and how did it happen?

any cure for that, coz friend of mine has the same problem or something similar to that, at arround 220+lbs on benchpress his arms start to shake like crazy and he's doing uneven extention everytime plus his bp dropped like 80lbs

  • @cr0azy I have never actually hurt my back deadlifting. It is always squatting. Last time I hurt it was about 8 weeks ago and I was doing beltless squats. Set went awesome and as I walked the weight in to rack it my lower back went bad. I could actually hear it go out of place.

As for the neck, the pinch is in the c7 and I am unsure how I have done it both times. Just woke up with a stiff neck, go to lift and the right arm doesnt fuction. Took 6 months last time to recover.

  • @jlinteris now that makes sense :D

anyways respect for both of you, good job guys

any new vids coming soon? are u still into powerlifting?

  • okay this is retarded. bodybuilder is actually doing better job than you are. do DEADlifts instead of touch and go.

  • @cr0azy I wasn't doing deadlifts. I was pretending. They were modified hip-thrusts.

  • @jlinteris okay that makes sense :D

anyways good job for both of you guys.

    any new vids coming soon?

  • @jlinteris well that makes sense :D

    respect for both of you

any new vids coming soon? still lifting?

  • @cr0azy Cut weight from 260 to 230. Lower back was constantly injured and I re-pinched my neck, which made my right tricep useless. Right arm can bench about 80 pounds less that left. I decided to back off and get into better shape for now. I still lift but nothing worthy of videos

  • .......................

  • RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE!!!

  • this is good considering most bodybuilders are massive pussies

  • Prob with this vid is it's not showing that the powerlifter repped more than the bodybuilder all it's showing is that touch and go method reps more than pause method. Do a video showing you can actually rep more than bodybuilder using pauses.

  • Im gonna have to give that comp to the BB. Pause reps are much harder to accomplish than TnG's. And he was only off by 3. It would be like benching 15 reps with a 2 sec pause on each rep or just repping it out on tng's. You'll get less on the pauses than the other. Taking nothing away from the PL though 500x15 is big regardless of the technique. But the BB kind of looked like he had the power in this one.

  • @armyspc101 2 sec pauses at the bottom of the bench, sure. Not when on lockout.

  • @DWarrior666: of course at the bottom of bench. i was comparing it to the BB in this vid who paused on the floor to reset every rep unlike the PL who just touched/bounced it off the floor for each rep. who cares about pausing at lockout? thats only needed when you are in a comp.

  • p.s. I'm so sick and tired of listening to people make that stupid comment about body builders training for size and not strength and power. For one most people who call themselves bodybuilders are wanabes and they dont actually lift like they claim they do becuase they can't get over their ego's in the gym. So they are actually training more for strength then size, thats why they never suceed. Also its all still weight training and weight training makes you stronger, PERIOD.

  • The compeition wasn't ever fair, you should have specified whether it was going to be touch and go or dead stop, the 'bodybuilder's' reps were significantly harder.

  • Comment removed

  • Bodybuilders train for muscle growth not strength or power so I don't get the point . the body builder was bigger muscles and the power lifter has more power so their training is working. I'm sure if you let Mr.Bodybuilder train for power lifting for 4 weeks he would be able to keep up quite well.

  • @PsychedelicSexDream but I bet if a bodybuilder trained like a powerlifter for 4 weeks he wouldnt look as much like a bodybuilder.

  • @jlinteris

I disagree because muscle growth and atrophy occur at a lot slower rate than strength and power gains.

I think 4 weeks is short enough to preserve most if not all the muscle mass and increase speed and whole body coordination mostly central nervous system adaptations. I don't know haven't tried it, you guys could be the first.

  • @jlinteris: not true at all. i would take a lot more than 4 weeks. theres still higher reps incorporated in the assistance exercises (or at least there should be) and the heavy weight would give him some more mass. but his body wouldnt change much after just 4 weeks on a PL routine.

  • @PsychedelicSexDream you cant train for muscle mass or for strength only

fact about healthy muscles: the bigger the muscle, the stronger it is.

as the muscle develops, the strength does too.

pro bodybuilders just inject different stuff like synthol and other crap into their muscles to look bigger.

  • @suparpowers

That is a myth. the truth is" the bigger the muscle the more space it takes up".

You can't train for only size , you will obviously gain some strength but if its not your focus or your goal there are many types of training that put muscle size ahead of strength and power. a lot of strength is not even muscle growth its central nervous system adaptation - the brain can send a stronger signal to the muscle and the muscle without growing learns to contract with more force.

  • @PsychedelicSexDream well thank for telling but that sounds like a myth to me.

    id look it up...

but the thing i told you is not my own idea, but it was stated by many doctors, scientists and even bruce lee...

  • @suparpowers

Doctor Who? haha, oh yes and Prof. Timothy Scientist and if I'm not mistaken Bruce Lee was HUGE... appeals to authority aside I stand by my original statement.

unless by bigger muscle you mean properly hydrated and full of glycogen vs smaller slightly dehydrated , glycogen depleted muscles which will affect performance and strength output.

muscle growth is a tissue adaptation to types of strength training not strength its self. We might just have to agree to disagree. peace

  • @PsychedelicSexDream oh the irony, good ones...

huge? i didnt know you need big muscles to have a working brain

btw just keep your stuff in mind and ill do the same, dont try convince me

  • @PsychedelicSexDream

I don't agree that the bodybuilder will easily keep up. But I do agree with you about the muscle to strength aspect. The bigger muscle doesn't necessarily mean the stronger muscle.

  • @suparpowers exactly! they also dehydrate themselves before competions to look more "cut" also bodybuilders work on more little insignificant muscle groups to look more toned.

  • @PsychedelicSexDream nice name

  • I'd love to see that physical trainer do something already.

  • Amazing power from powerlifter...especially from those legs

  • good strength from both of you. how much do you guys weigh?

  • 11 "Let's go" from who ever filmed Jordan.

  • How many pull ups can you do?

    and how many push ups?

  • @pixelside Best wide grip pullup set is 24, and best set of pushups is 80ish.

  • So the first guy to lift was the bodybuilder and the 2nd guy was the powerlifter?

  • Comment removed

  • where's teh body builder and powerlifter? all i see is two fags showing off to each other in a gym. Lifting weights does not make you a "bodybuilder" or a "powerlifter". You are just two homos that decided to cal yourself that. What a joke

  • @MultiTrollHunter LOL! Well the first guy, Ashley Whittington, is a competitive bodybuilder that recently won best overall at a competition. Look for him at CDN nats this year. Look up Bodybuilder vs Powerlifter 3 and look at the picture of him at the end. I was a competitive powerlifter and if I competed and pulled the 765 in a comp like I did in a gym, I would have the biggest drug free deadlift in CDN history. My 3 lift total was nearing the record as well.

  • @jlinteris Ashley is pretty ripped, i apologise for talking shit about him. However, as soon as you (or anyone else for that matter) has to write "Drug free" by their achievements it automatically makes you sound jealous and stupid. Sorry man but taking gear doesn't automatically make you a powerlifting king.

  • @MultiTrollHunter Man, I have NEVER used gear! I competed in a drug tested federation. I am trying to get into law enforcement. I have no use or intentions of using gear. I just didnt write that I was "drug free" because compared to Ashley I am really not that impressive and I didnt think anyone would assume I was using.

  • @jlinteris I never said you did take gear i was saying that people who label their lifts "drug free" are suggesting that if there were on gear they would be as good as the top level elite who are on it!!

  • @MultiTrollHunter You jelly>? Faggot got nothing better to do but troll on ppl ha>? Lets see u do this faggot? I would be braggin..

  • solid guys i can rep 500 for 5 at 20

  • @beadednecklace That is a great start. As you get into your 20's, you will get dramitically stronger so that is one hell of a good starting point!

  • second guy needs to hit the squats....HARD

  • @texan31337 Cool! Are you like one of those personal trainer people!?

  • STRONG!

Form isn't bad and who cares? It is a competition anyway and some decent numbers are being put up.

Have seen people with "perfect form" still manage to fuck their back up. As long as they ain't in serious pain is all good.

  • Part of the difference I think is that the bb'd was resetting each rep. Which means he loses that elastic stretch and has to do each pull full on. the tap and go of the pl'er allows him to conserve more energy for each rep, because he isn't using a lot more on the initial pull.

other than that, you guys are both pretty damn strong. good job.

  • Sorry, I refuse to take lifting advice from someone completely failing to use their legs in a deadlift. I've been powerlifting for 20 years. You're just some wannabe punk kid who's probably been at it for 6 months and if your form is anything to go by, make that 6 weeks. LEARN TO DEADLIFT.

Referring to world-class powerlifters in an effort to justify shitty form in a medium weight rep pissing-contest with a bodybuilder is a joke - and so are you.t The bodybuilder had better form ffs.

  • @Kopp203 Ha, I would argue except 1)I have competed many times and 2) you DONT HAVE ANY VIDEOS. People without videos are shit talking keyboard warriors. You are a skinny little bitch. I will put money on this.

  • Take it on the chin and spare me the sarcasm. The deadlift isn't a lift, it's a push. Drive through your heels and try put your legs through the platform, push forward with the hips once the bar passes your knees, keep your shoulders back and above or behind the bar and keep the back tight. Look at your upper back, it's rounded with your shoulders dipping down in a c curve to the floor. If you powerlift, you should know how to deadlift properly by now. You robbed yourself of reps here.

  • @Kopp203 Haha, you have no idea of shit. Your upper back CAN be rounded as long as the lower is perfectly straight, as mine is. Look at Konstantine Konstantinov. Go tell him he has bad form as he is one of the top 3 strongest deadlifters on Earth. As for the tips, I almost pulled 800 at my best. Last thing I wil take seriously is some youtube idiot giving me lessons. Take it on the chin and go and try to sound smart elsewhere. You have no clue.

  • @jlinteris konstantinov = fuckin' beast.

  • @slayer666metallica Fucking rights!

  • Ones doing roids, the other probably isn't. Both have gawd-awful form. The "powerlifter" is on a fast track to lower back injury. Practically zero push with the legs, repping out notwithstanding. Back to lifting school.

  • @Kopp203 LOL. Thanks for that. I will hire a personal trainer A.S.A.P!

  • That's an amazing feat not to mention being as tall as that fellow!!!

  • Chuck norris could do that one handed

  • Ash is deadliftin in Chucks, props! thats tough!

  • To be fair there are various kinds of bb'ers out there, some of which use a powerlifting routine for their workouts (in addition to filling out other muscle groups). But I guess the difference is in muscling out a lift vs. exploding it (strength vs power).

  • To add to the defeat, it's also pretty hilarious that the powerlifter beat the bodybuilder on reppers. Nice job Jordan.

  • Wow who is this Ashley Whittington guy? Do you have more on him? That is one strong bodybuilder.

  • @Sylar000000 He is a bodybuilder who lives in Terrace B.C and owns a gym there. He is pretty new to bodybuilding competitions but has been doing really well by winning the comps he has entered. He won the Sandra Wickham fall classic and won overall best lifter as a heavy weight. Google his name and some pics and srtuff should surface,

  • sweet vids guys

  • @ChrisSierra408 Thanks, a lot!

  • To make these contests fair you all need to agree on one specific type of repetition tempo. That's the only way to truly know who is strongest when repping out a specific weight.

  • @Fir3fly798 I see what you are saying, but before the contest started we agreed to use whatever form would potentially offer us the most reps. I chose touch and go, he used paused. This was hard for me and wasnt any easier than pausing. If you watch my other vids, I pause every set so this was completely screwed up feeling. As for being strongest when It came time for singles I would beat him so the outcome is the same.

  • You guys are both strong dudes, but the first guy did all dead-stop repetitions which is a helluva lot harder than touch and go. For me it cuts the repetitions I can do with that weight by approximately half.

  • who the cares about reps, powerlifting is about max weights and im sure that he can do more that bodybuilder.

  • @MrKrezz Yeah for reps and for a single I could edge him out. Not by a lot though. He is a strong bodybuilder.

  • @jlinteris well maybe he is, but generally, powerlifter and bodybuilder is quiete different. For example one of the most powerfull bodybuilders done 450kg deadlift, but record is far away for this weight :)

  • @MrKrezz I think only Andy Bolton and Benedict Magnusson have pulled 450 kg. (990 pounds). As far as I know these are the only two on earth to do it, Bolton edging that out with a 1008 pound pull. I cannot think of any bodybuilders that even get remotely close to that. Ronnie Coleman pulled 363 KG but that isnt even on the same planet as 450 kg.

  • This isn't a fair comparison. The first guy did all of his reps restarted while the 2nd guy did almost all continuous. Restarted reps are way harder. I give the crown to the first guy.

  • @sgberta couldn't agree more

  • @sgberta i agree man resets r way harder

  • Oo the bodybuilder has an "inzer" tshirt and the powerlifter has an "ultimate nutrition" tshirt .... x)

  • @thedustbrothers Supplement shirts add reps to your sets!

  • bodybuilder is impressive as fuck

  • The bodybuilder is a nice bit stronger, the deadlift stop pause and go done by him involves alot more strength then the continous smash off the floor and up by the powerlifter.

  • @miseljeddore Actually in the deadlift I am stronger. Whether we rep out, both do paused reps, pull a max single or anything. Those were not smashed either, but controlled touch and go. I am sure it is pretty obvious that both of us handle that weight pretty effortlessly.

  • @jlinteris I didnt say anything about the way you handle it, I can clearly see its effortless. Im just saying I know its screwing around , i know its for fun but if you are saying vs. you should both use the same repping technique because the one you showed is easier, the weight is still moving but none the less a whole lot easier once you rep it past say 6 times, it just shows off how great the bodybuilder is at explosiveness and how u can handle alot of weight in an unorganized pattern

  • @miseljeddore Yup. Actually before this started we agreed to do as many reps as possible, regardless of form and I chose touch and go and he did dead stop. Touch and go felt really wierd for me because I paused every single rep in normal training, but yeah.... we were just playin around.

  • @miseljeddore Cool man, Yeah I didnt mean to be offensive or anything Im not one those douche bags on youtube goes around pointing shit out when they are prob 290lbs 68% BF and plays world of warcraft for a living, I was just throwing it out there becuase touch and go is prooven to be easier but I cant tell you know your shit, look at you in the video for god sakes lol your a big boy, Lift hard lift heavy man.

  • @jlinteris nothing rong with it though I use to do it the same way, and im not lifting no where as much as you. I was just saying brother.
