Hello ! I find it amusing that some people here think Laveyan Satanism is the same as Theistic Satanism...it is not...the former encourages individuality and is more symbolic , and the latter worships Satan (Enki) as an actual God Daemon, don't just take my word for it, google it.

Just because a god is SIMILAR, that does not mean that they are the SAME ~ Satanists like to back-date their religion to appear older than Christianity, older than any other religion on this earth...all in an attempt to seem esteemed, great and full of ancient knowledge

The most naughty thing Faust ever did was 'go it alone' - without the Christian church to dictate to him what he should and should not do - this is was the character of Faust represents - but of course, there is a risk, freedom is not the safe option, but at least you will dieor go insane a human being instead of an animal/slave.

@VenusSatanas its really interesting to hear you say CoS lacks freedom or is restricting - because the Satanic Bible is liberating and all about personal freedom - thats the core message of the book is it not? please elaborate!

@shawneci - what is in the book is not the same as what they preach. You can google the name of a HP who left the CoS - he left because he wasn't able to have the freedom to know Satan as a real entity. According to him, he believes Satan to be as a 'literal prince of darkness' - his name is Diabolus Rex. I commend him for standing up and declaring his own freedom, the freedom that the CoS never offered him

@VenusSatanas interesting you say this HP believed Satan as a real entity - Lavey publicly said he didnt believe in Satan as a real entity - but privately Lavey did believe Satan was a real entity! so Lavey lied to the public about Satan's existance because he thought the reality of Satan was to contraversial - supposedly as he was dying he screamed out "somethings not right" "its not supposed to happen like this"! as if something terrible was starting to take hold of him.

I do not follow Satanism but i do find most of the religions out there fascinating. When I first got on my path is it was so god damn hard... after many many YEARS of study and error i am in a good place on my path. never ever give up on something you feel is impertinent to you and that you love.

First and foremost. You do a great job of explaining satanism to someone like myself who is just starting out. I was wondering about the Al-Jilwah. I am very interested in the book itself. I downloaded it as a pdf file the other day. Exactly how long is it? Because some websites have only a few paragraphs up to Chapter V and some go into explaining only excerpts from it. Is there more to it than the five chapters? Thank you

@shawneci - yes you are right - the church itself was formed in 66 - and then opened officially to the public in 69. perhaps lavey back-dated the origin of his church so that it could appear as 6/'66' - who knows
