I'm more into stuff like Pink Floyd and such these days but Rod Stewart is the guy i started(37years ago) with and still do every now and then. Can't get enough of his songs...truly pleasing to the ears!!
hi rod fans..its tim here!!so who thinks this is frackin orrsumm.??this is the best singer in the wold.and the faces are the best band that ever came out of the uk.and rod is the only clean rockin roll singer that i no and he is still alive to bring us the music that we need to hear??god bless you mr stewart..
he is happy with his new woman, but like i said originally, angry that she come back, bringing up the hurt, however we inturpretate it, it is a great piece of work, so emotive, it causes debate, love it
@spaceman979 Thank YOU! now you are reinforcing my point, Happy? no at all, he doesn't sound happy 'cause obviously he isn't... he sounds like crying kind of moaning causing him so much pain knowing she is "the ONE", the true and only woman of his life who makes him feel alive even while he suffers...again resentful and depressed... I prefer him singing "Do you think I'm sexy?"

well,yeah, there's something I still don't get, if he's so over that woman from his past and he has a new and happy life with a beautiful woman how come he sounds so recentful and depressed???

This sounds more like a weeping, crying kinda of confessing a deep frustration, and he’s trying to auto convince himself he is happy n in love with someone new, although he lives buried in a wonderful past with the other woman; a past that makes his present shallow. He actually sounds like is drowning into his own tears… but anywho, everyone have a different perception about “happiness” …
@spicasil who said anything about happiness, i cant see where i wrote that , relieved, and annoyed, is that happiness in your world ? i never mentioned happinnes,, i do probaly have a different perception, which i didnt put here, we can have different views about what the song means, but wont really work if you state things that were not said, cheers
@spaceman979 We are actually talking about the song, right? so yes it's understood he ask her to go away 'cause he is "happy" now with another woman, right? and because he states he got over her, right? so for instance, he actually should sound happy and not miserable as he does, right? he doesn't even sound relieved but once again very very depressed and resentful; most definitely that's not happiness in my world...that's all...
@spicasil I disagree with you. It's more like gloating. He has suffered the pain of her betrayal, but has found a more beautiful and loving woman during the this time. It's a sad, yet joyful song. I love it.

GLOATING?? haha once again he sounds like moaning kinda crying and shivering for fact she's alive and back! and obviously the effect she causes on him isnt nothing compared to what he feels for that poor nice woman who he used as her replacement. Anyway, this kind of story happens aaaall the time, I guess... So, finally it became a tune.. Very sad though, poor thing...
Man I love this album. Not many Stewart fans agree but I rank his efforts different than most. Every Picture/ Smiler/ Foot Loose/Coast To Coast is how I start his list of bests but I know it is not a popular list. But who cares, thx 4 posting.
