I have taken this from the GA DNR website: Hybrid & white-striped bass: You may only keep two fish that are 22 inches or longer, except the minimum length is 22 inches on the North Newport River and Medway River. Saltwater: The minimum length is 27 inches on the Savannah River and its tributaries downstream of J. Strom Thurmond Dam (2 fish limit).
Why protect the fish up to 27 inches (which are the best to eat) Why not protect the over 27 inch which are already spawning and would be classified as brood stock.
Kinda contradictory to say to let a fish go that meets the size limit for spawning reasons. But yet you cant keep fish under 27 inches that are not yet sexually mature.
My advice - whatever kind of fishing you enjoy, book a charter with a reputable capt. and see how a pro does it - pay attention then do what the pro does to catch that kind of fish. I still love taking charters!
what they said was they are protecting the younger fish to give them a chance to breed

Matt says in the vid "it's a 27 inch mimimum size limit which allows the fish to get up to 5 yrs old so we can guarantee they'll at least spawn once"
Matt also said "we're trying to protect those fish until they can spawn"
Sounds to me like the fish are protected 0-26 inch...I think you got it reversed!

...and nor do you as you also confirm the (2fish limit) 27 inch "minimum" length on the Savannah.
You are also saying the fish are protected 0-26 inches. Make up your mind!

I stand corrected - Redfish down here have a slot limit of 14-23 inches to keep.

Think you got it reversed - you may keep fish up to 27 inches but must let the larger ones go - yes, those over that limit are the breeding stock.

I'm not a good fisherman, but I love watching these kinds of shows. It's very educational for a newbie fisherman like me. Thanks for posting!
