I can remember these sign-offs when I was a kid. Does anyone out there in cyberspace remember a guy that would dress as a cowboy and do commercials for WVVA? Perhaps, he was sponsored by RC-cola or something? This would have been in the early 70's. I have very vague memories of this.
@n8tureboy ~ Yes I do, ; ) It was Scoop and Snoop, they did commercials for RC cola and a local supermarket too!! They did a great comedy routine and would appear on the March of Dimes Telethon that we used to televise.
"I knew it was really time for bed when this came on. lol" -drsambone!!
Me too!! I left Bluefield in '92...but I can still remember this and the jingles from, I believe, a '85 or '84 NBC network campaign!! "Makes no difference where I go. You're the best place that I know, Hello West Virginia...Hello Virginiaaaa!! Channel 6 Loves You!!!" Thanks for the memories Signsoffguy! I now conclude my broadcast day!
wow, that was recorded around the time i was born, in the same area.

I remember that jingle too when I would visit my grandparents in WVA.
There was channel 10 in Roanoke that had the same type of jingle.

Do you know where I can find WLUK's sign off, with the custom-made "Come Home to NBC" ID for the channel?

Did You Know That WVVA Stills Sign-Off? They Do So At About 12:00 AM (Midnight) And Come Back On About 5:00 AM On Monday Mornings.

Neat test pattern at the end! I also like how they listed the installation dates of their transmitters at that time.
