It sounds otherworldly...like something you would hear traveling through a blue night sky, seeing all the stars, planets, and suns...It's beautiful. And I thought Kraftwerk and Can were special. I need to start listening to more Neu! :D
everyone who loves this should listen to Sigur Ros` white album (). It picks just up where "75" ends. The only weird thing about is that the drums don't keep pushing forward like in this one but they try to slow it down as the high frequency-guitar lines want to break free. Neu! made the beginning but each year so much great music is reaching the surface. don't just end after finding one treasure ;)
Flea referenced this band when talking about "Animal Bar". It took me forever to figure out this band is spelled Neu!, not noi or noy. I did discover a good american band named Noi in the process haha But yea, Neu! rocks! Glad I've found them.
As a Neu! fan I would rather take the pointlessly defensive stance.
That aside I guess you are going for the everyone has a right to their opinion angle? Yes? Well here I am on the internet doing that. Still I am sure there are people you deem to be morons based on their actions or beliefs. Is that not the case?
I love listening to this whilst smoking a joint on a saturday morning, after having to put up with all the mon-fri work bullshit. Wonderful relaxing tune. Cheers.

... to continue, Neu! were there first, realising the potential of electronic instruments. They created a whole mood with Hallagallo & Negativland which PiL would develop for songs like Albatross but while everyone else caught up they had already moved on to adding in synthesizers and splitting there work in 2 with one being long, sprawling pieces of industrial minimalism & the other being more melodic possibly even ambient music with pianos & nature sounds.
The most underrated band. They owned the 70's as everything good from the decade owed something to Neu! (Brian Eno, David Bowie, PiL, Faust) and going into other decades as well, right up until todays music.
Any idiot can make music on a computer and a keyboard but you need real talent to create something as beautiful, melodic & lovely like this. Everyone, quite rightly, thinks of kraftwerk when they think of the influences on the electronic music boom of the 80's, 90's & 00's...
It is so pleasurable reading the comments here. Neu! was always one of my very favorite Krautrock bands.
I once filled in for the owner of a small specialty music store back in 1978 and one of the records I spun was Neu! 75 and it got such a great reaction from the patrons in the shop at the time.
It sucks that in the technological age of auto-tune and MIDI, good music like this tends to be overlooked. I mean, these guys were making this kind of music without the assistance of any pre-programmed equipment whatsoever! Now-a-days any idiot with a computer can get credit for making "good" music, and they don't even have to have any skill or talent at all. These guys started something that was way ahead of it's time. Too bad thier whole concept sort of back-fired on them as time went on.
Stereolab is 95% Neu and Silver Apples. The track Mellotron on Peng! is a 100% note for note ripoff of Silver Apples' "Ruby", minus the awesome banjo. Stereolab has almost got together a whole album's worth of ORIGINAL material after almost 20 years of being together IMHO.
They were using vocals, but mostly only as another abstract instrument. I would qualify only two tracks of their cannon as songs- Lieber Honig and Hero.
Reminds me of early 80's public television, when I was growing up. It's funny how the early electronic era has such 'human' qualities when it comes to emotion evocation.
Never heard of this crowd till the Sunday times wrote about it. Anyone remeber a free game on the old imac's where you played a little bug running around collecting stuff. Alway's loved the sound track to that game. Sadly could never finish it...Neu! like it...

Such a great song, such a GREAT band. It's 2008 and still Krautrock bands and prog bands are more or less emulating the sounds that NEU! Can and all the other greats pioneered back in the 60's and 70's... Man, this song is just beyond words. The closest thing to perfection and magic that I have ever heard... Barring Damo Suzukis live improv shows.
DAMN !!! I Have Been Looking For This Song For close to 13 years i was to young to know the artist but tonight they played it on the radio and said this is about the only time you will ever hear this song on here again.Good Thing we have youtube :-)
I never could stand Krautrock but this is pretty good. What am I doing here? Wanted to compile somestuff for my krautrock/ prog rock admiring brother. Can see where Kraftwerk took their inspiration from and then a few groups 10 years later
Got an old cassette recording of NEU! off the radio, circa 1976, where John Peel says, "I suppose it's perfectly possible that it was the other member of NEU!, Klaus Dinger, with whom I sat on the steps of the church opposite and who had green hair, but it's all part of the BBC's 'hands across the sea' policy that means we have to entertain these loonies."
